We tried. They said they detect no problems.

Of course they didn't detect problems, because as long as the ISP gets even the slightest signal they say it's fine. May I ask what ISP you have? When I had AT&T I brought the modem itself in and they tested it and ended up fixing a error. That and you also need to know your bandwidth limits.
