Should Discord have been executed for his treachery?

I think Discord did genuinely learn his lesson after being betrayed by Tirek. He is Twilight's key-giver after all! I don't think Discord faked his emotions when he was trapped in the bubble and he realized he had lost his closest friend (Fluttershy). But he did regain the trust of all his friends at the end of Twilight's Kingdom.

He had never known friendship ever, and as far as we know, for most of his life, has been shunned by most regular creatures. For quite a while, the only way he could have any sort of connection with anyone else was by being a tyrant.

 

Once he met Fluttershy, he began to kind of understand what friendship was.

 

However, it's hard to be happy with having one friend when everyone else around you STILL HATES YOUR GUTS. The other Mane 5 did slightly annoy me with the way they expected him to be absolutely perfect while refusing to put their own prejudices aside long enough to attempt to connect with him.

 

Therefore, when Tirek offered Discord power, this was he choice.

 

1. Be loyal to the ponies, yet still have only one friend who seems to care for you. (Remember, Discord didn't know Twilight was starting to warm up to him, as she showed when she saw that he had specifically marked helpful passages.)

 

2. Join Tirek and force every single pony in Equestria to respect you.

 

One friend, or nation of fearful respect. Pretty hard decision for someone with his past.

 

Discord should absolutely not be executed. Especially now, when it finally seems to have gotten through to him just how important to him these ponies are. And not now when the Mane 6 seem slightly willing to give him a chance!

 

I'm sure we'll see more of this conflict in Season 5. It's not just going to be forgotten, I'm sure.

 

 

 

Also, EXECUTION?! I understand it's just hypothetical, but I'm pretty sure that would never happen in the Equestrian Universe. I mean, look at all Tirek did. He's just stuck in a cage in Tartarus. If they aren't executing him, then they're not going to execute anyone.

As a fan of the show: No, partly because it is a kid show and partly because he seems to have magically learned his lesson.

But I wouldn't. The rest of the mane 6 outside Fluttershy didn't seem to treat him very well, and even tried to run away when he was "ill". So I can understand him (even though it was rather weak) betraying the ponies, as most of them still did not trust him, or shunned him outright.

And this is the show were "friendship is magic", so I couldn't really see them going Marie Antoniet on discord.

 Didn't she do that with some sort of magical rainbow of light? That's not her own ability, she's a normal human girl from what I've seen. Take away that Rainbow of light and she's about as tough as your average human child.

He just teleports in and grabs it. Discord can teleport at will. And shape shift.

And she never had powers without the locket, she would just be a average teen girl. Take away the locket, summon a ak-47, Bip Bap Bam megan is gone.

 

And the sub title of the show is "friendship is magic", it would be counter productive to this to kill off discord.

Discord probably can't be completely destroyed even if that was something that could happen in the show through a decree to punish. At most, he could be sealed away but the princesses have judged him to be fit to continue to live among the ponies, so neither punishment would be imposed.

Do you execute every friend who makes a horrible mistake? Because that's what Fluttershy would be doing. If they executed him.

 

I won't argue about G1 with you, but I do know that none of the ponies from G4 would never execute anyone.

 

And before you mention Sombra, let me remind you that it was the Crystal Heart, not the ponies.

 

Even with the Elements, the punishment seemed to be what the Elements thought was fitting. Nightmare Moon was banished the first time, then miraculously turned normal the second time. Maybe the whole fact that there were six of them changed the output.

 

They turned Discord into stone both times, which shows that stone was the only option for him until his friendship with Fluttershy.

 

Anyway, I just kinda feel... sad. That you would hate him so much that you'd want him completely destroyed.

 

Though, I really don't think that's possible. 'Spirit of Chaos' implies that he exists as long as chaos exists. And we really don't know how old he is, sooooo yeah.

do you really want someone worse than discord with the powers of chaos itself? you might be able to kill the being holding the power but you cant kill chaos itself.

besides this show is about the magic of friendship and forgiveness is a big deal on friendship.
