Is anyone else here a former brony?

Most former bronies leave because of the brony fandom itself, but tend to still watch the show. That's what I've noticed.

I consider myself a casual fan of the show, mainly because although I do enjoy it, I do not particularly like to associate myself with Bronies as they kinda...Trashed the whole fandom in less than a year. I've always liked MLP and have seen a lot of the previous generations, as I grew up with G3, G1 and MLP Tales, so I suppose I can be considered more of a loyal fan than a casual one. Love G4, can't stand most of the fandom. I used to call myself a brony but all the negativity the majority creates and immature behavior kinda drove me away, lol. I also associated myself with Pegasisters for a time before stopping altogether.

Well, i've known like 1-2 different people on here that I can recall that were not bronies, but liked the community here so decided to stick around here.

There's probably more, but regardless.

I am not a former brony myself though, I still love the show, and I still love the community :D.

Even if I didn't like the show anymore though, i'd probably still hang out here. I just like a lot of the people here.

Pretty much what zygen said.

I am not a *diehard* brony I have some shirts and that is about it. I love the show absolutely its great but the fandom itself a majority is well to extreme when it comes down to a lot of things.

Nope, if I ever do become a former brony which is possible it will probably be because I simply lost interest in the show. I will never understand these arguments of "the fans ruined it" but I can understand the concept though of people being more casual fans and not wanting to take on the "brony" label. That argument makes me serious question if a lot of them were even fans to begin with, if I like something I don't let anyone affect my enjoyment of it for the worst if anything I often use my enjoyment as a screw you to the people I don't like in whatever fandom I am in sort of an "I am here and if you don't it that is too bad."

Haha, yup, I fit the description of the original post perfectly. :P

I used to be a big MLP fan throughout 2012 and early 2013. However, I gradually lost interest in the show, as I became more interested in other things. I haven't watched all of the season 4 episodes and I don't plan to. Still, I stick around the forums here because I've made so many great friends that I would never leave :)

Yeah, I'm feeling not so positive about the fandom nowadays. Especially not after I saw everything that happened (I was really living under a rock, so to speak). Nevertheless, I never considered myself a 'Brony', just a MLP fan. That was mainly due to not seeing the term as gender-neutral, but also because I don't tend to apply fandom titles to myself (do I really want to define myself by a show I like? No thanks!). However, now I have even more reason to not like it!

I still love the show, however, I've found myself more comfortable interacting with/being among non-Brony MLP fans. Even though I never considered myself a Brony, always embraced the fact that the show is for girls (much younger than I), etc.,etc. I still formed some almost 'Brony' mindsets that I really am not proud of... Like I took the word of this fandom that the older generations weren't so good, even though I had no opinion of them one way or the other myself. Like, I even somehow took-in the idea that they were 'too girly' even though I am a girl! >.<

Yesterday I started watching G1, and although it is cheesy... It is really only cheesy in the same way that other 80s cartoons were (everything was cheesy in the 80s, seriously xD) and I actually kind of like it, and feel happier opening my mind to the early generations. Curse this fandom and its - painfully ironic - shunning of things being girly. *sigh*

I started watching near the end of season 2,and loved most of S1 & S2,but afterwards i gradually lost interest in the show.I still watch, but am not really interested in the show anymore,I missed one or two S4 episodes and don't plan on watching them.

I still stay around here just for the non mlp stuff.I may not go online for long periods of time, but that doesn't mean that I've left.I would never identify myself as a brony because the term is ascociated with bad things.

I think most bronies delete any accounts related to mlp. I still like it but I'm simply losing interest because of the waiting time for s5 and eqG

That does happen I just wait I lose (little) interest since there is not so much going on around that time but when it is near my interest comes fully back however even when the season ends I am still a pegasister I just lose a little from not so much being around from that short time.

In thought I consider myself a brony but I just don't talk about it.

Having a few friends who do not wish to associate with the fandom, it's very much the same story again and again; having been at the receiving end of a group of bronies attack or harass them, friends or brony artist(s) that they follow.

am i the only one living under a rock here?

what negative behaviour do you guys speak of?

i honestly haven´t seen any of it, at all.maybe i just go to the "wrong" places.

go to any other community, video game forums ,anime forums, you will see so many weirdos and dickheads its incredible.

maybe you just refer to the "dark side" of the fandom ,i personally just ignore that.

anyways, i am not a diehard fan either. i dont have any merch at all(which might change in the future), but still i consider myself a fan and i am really looking forward for what season 5 has in store for us.

I certainly qualify. Started losing interest about halfway through season 4, and I still haven't finished the last batch of episodes. I'll get around to them sometime, maybe, but it's not a high priority for me anymore. Feels more like something I'd do for the sake of completion rather than fun.

The community has its share of elements I dislike as well, but I stick around for the handful of wonderful people I've met through here. I feel they've genuinely enriched my life and I'm thankful I got on this ride because of them.

I am here for the ponies, not for the bronies, although I have a close cadre of friends, I tend to be leery of the fandom. The show has done so much for, and I will always watch My Little Pony, someday I will do something with the show, maybe an internet show of my own, but I am not much of a fan, sometimes I call myself a brony, but I am a fan of the show itself. I have made many good friends here, and I will always be there for them, also for new fans that come to the forums, and need a person to talk to, they could talk to me, yet as far as I go on the forums, I try to keep away from the shadier sides of the fandom, that could be aggressive or vitriolic, in defending the show and the fandom, or stating an opinion that could be mean, forgetting that friendship is magic, however, I am not a former brony, there is some good people here, and if they need to speak to someone, I am here.

I only called myself one because people would do it anyway, I never much cared for being one.

In many ways the fandom is more of a turn off than the show, not that I hate it. I joined here just to interact with them more and like them more like I used to.

In some ways I like this fandom more than many others, in part because it's one of the likelier places online to have a civil discussion. Some parts of the fandom are a bit too extreme for me but honestly, I even understand those parts of it even if I don't participate in them. I understand the appeal in it, but it's not something I will do. I like losing myself in imaginary worlds and I write fanfics to indulge those fantasies, but they don't really go beyond the show themselves; I don't have an OC or Ponysona or whatever you want to call it.

The characters have their world, we have ours. I like it that way, because if the worlds were to blend the fictional world loses its magic.

Anyway, I'm getting derailed. I'm not a former brony as I still watch the show, but I don't espouse the same values as many others do, and since the extremes dominate the general view, you could say that from that viewpoint I'm not a brony.

I drift in and out it seems. Every time a new season comes along I hop on board and when it ends I get off. Mostly because the fandom gets restless/weird in the off seasons...

if only there was an easy way to leave these forums... but there isn't.

Just piss off the right mods enough and they'll pay for your ticket and hold the door on your way out.

Not a "former brony" as you define it, but more of a semi-brony. I'm a fan, not of the show, but of all the fan art that has been made of it. I'm less active now because old friends I had back when it was really popular have not been on here in such a long time.

There's also what I'll call the "toxic bronies". They are the bronies who try to shove MLP down other people's throats and get all butthurt simply because someone doesn't like MLP. They are the bronies who don't uphold any of the values the show teaches about, and they think just because you don't like MLP, you're the worst person in the world.

I'm not a fan of the newer seasons either, especially with how Hasbro titled the first two episodes of Season 9 as "Beginning of the End - Part 1 and 2". I feel like they're pushing too hard that the show's ending soon. Like, come on Hasbro, we know its gonna end soon, you don't need to shove it in our face.

I don't watch the show because I've basically lost all interest in it. I've also heard of rehashed morals from earlier episodes and not great writing, so those are possibly other reasons. I'm more here for the fanart nowadays.

I have three MLP posters in my room (along with one from when I was a really big fan), and a Rainbow Dash shirt, but in terms of brony merchandise, that's about it.

Lastly, pure lack of fandom activity.

Again, I'm a semi-brony. I don't watch the show, but I do draw fanart of it every now and then and occasionally go on here to post. But I don't really talk about it as often as I used to these days, having mostly moved on.

Former-former-fan, if that makes sense. I started watching in season 1 and stopped after season 3. Glad I came back, because I found some new favorite episodes that came out long after I stopped.

I've never considered myself to be a brony, but rather a fan of the show. I lost interest in it lately tho and haven't kept up with the show since the middle of season 8. It's possible that I may catch up on it at a later point.

Still love the ponies tho and plan on hanging around here

I feel like I'll always consider myself a brony, even if I stop being in the fandom as much at some point. The show's done so many good things for me, that I don't think I'll ever stop being a fan of it. I have become more disappointed with the fandom recently, but that's mainly just a disappointment with people in general, so I try to not let it discourage me.
