Auto-colouring text for posts.

i've noticed quite a few members, including myself, like to post using colour. However....to do so, for each post, we have to manually select all of the text in our post, click the text colour box and select the colour we want.

I was wondering if it's possible to custom set our default typing colour for posts in our "preferences" section for forum wide related settings. Kinda, set it and forget it thing. I've been on a couple other forums and it's been possible, but they weren't IP.Board based.

I think a lot of members would enjoy having this  little feature. :squee:

Along with this, perhaps setting a custom default font?

I'm sure this has been brought up before. But the search function seems to be broken still.

I sure wouldn't.

Colored posts, especially on white are hard for some of us colorblind people to read, as well as hurts our eyes.

I'm not saying don't do it, I just wouldn't want to have to copy paste every post into black so I can read it.  xP

As someone who posts in color often, I agree - this is something that'd be beneficial to those of us who use a color to write in rather than the standard black, and I really don't know why this feature doesn't exist. It shouldn't be too hard to find, it seems like there'd likely be a hook for it somewhere on the IPB thing, and it'd just be overall useful to those who prefer to write in color :please:

If this is doable, I don't see why it shouldn't be done.

But then more people would do it.

Colored text is harder for me to read and some colors are just too flashy/distracting.

But if there was an option to turn off colored text, then both sides of the colored-text debate would be happy.  :nom:

This is a matter I've had on my mind for quite some time. Not just color settings, but font settings would be a good idea too. This would certainly be a feature I would use quite often.

I agree with this as-well.

Have the ability to have a default color with the option to change the font.

Have the ability to disable this to your viewing (leaving it off for the default.)

It all makes a lot of sense to do this. Also agreeing that it would make the task of manually making your post a different color a lot more easier.

I think this would be cool because I could type like this. Isn't this a fun color?

Also yes I do support this idea.

As much as probably a surplus of users across the board would indeed love this feature, there would indeed be a complete necessity for an "ignore" option to be implemented. I did some searching around on the web and IP Board's site itself and there aren't any mods that would be able to be applied to the forum. (The only ones I did find were ones for Chat, which we don't have, and they were only suggestions as well) If this were to be accepted then it would probably require manual coding and be added to the large list of things our devs have to do.

I'd give a boost to this were its practicality more desirable. :\

I would only support adding this if there was a way for people to turn off seeing colored text in posts in their settings, due to concerns raised above.

That being said, I will do some investigation to see if there is some kind of setting for both already built-in, and if not, if there is a hook that would add functionality for it. If there isn't, the developers would have to design custom functionality for it, and I don't know how backed up they are right now. This would definitely be a lower priority.

I agree, but I'd also add a bold option, because bold text is way easier for me and others to see (even when in color, im assuming), and I think it just looks great with color added. Like for example, I'm using a solid bold blue.
