Hello everypony.

I was wondering if anypony here knows about a strategy game series called Total War. I personally have Empire Total War and Total War : Shogun 2 and I'm planning to get Rome 2 and Napoleon.

For those of you who don't know what this game is, it is basically a strategy game divided into two parts. You have the first part, which is turn-based. In this part, you move your troops on the campaign map and you improve your territories, construct farms to feed your population, manage taxes to improve your economy, recruit new soldiers, etc. You also have access to the diplomacy screen where you can manage trade agreement and make treaties and stuff with other factions.

The second part is actually the battle part where you lead your troops on the battlefield. It is real time strategy and quite realistic.

I don't like Shogun 2 very much. Not because the game is bad or anything, it's just that I don't like the era it is set in and I think the diplomacy is seriously messed up (For those of you who have the game, I'm talking about realm divide).

About the difficulty setting of the campaign map, easy is too easy (other factions are passive and only move troops around the map without actually attacking or doing anything offensive). Hard is too hard (other factions are like destroy, destroy, DESTROY). So, I'm playing on medium and  I'm happy...

There is a separate difficulty setting for the real-time battles and I play on very hard because I'm awesome

Yeah, I have most of their games.

I didn't like Shogun 2 at first, but I do love the Fall of the Samurai, however I don't play it much because it seems like it takes 5 minutes for the battles to load and everything. My favorite game would have to be Napoleon, as I like the 1700s and 1800s, and the Napoleon just seems to run a whole lot smoother than Empire

I just got Empire (my first total war game) a week ago and I love it. I'm also surprised how hard some of the tactical gameplay can be (handling so many units can be overwhelming). So yeah I'm a bit of a noob there, but so far I'm doing well conquering the world as Prussia. If you want I'd be down to do a multiplayer battle sometime B)

I have shogun 2 and Rome as well, and I suck at both of them on every difficulty. I tend to suck at games that require me to think. But that's just me.

You got the hardest ones. You might want to try an easier one, like Empire.
