Hey guys,

Considering how diverse the world's national anthems are, I decided to start a poll where you guys can vote for your favourite national anthem! Here's a huge chunk of the anthems right here

You can always look it up as well! :P

Anyway, my favourite's this here anthem, just because it's very patriotic and musically rich:

My favourite national anthem isn't officially a national anthem, but don't tell that to the fans at Hampden Park.

Oh Flower of Scotland...

Canada is my favourite, I've always loved that one! :)

Honorable mention to France.

I would like my own one a bit more if it wasn't so Queen-centric :okiedokielokie:

I voted for the French one.

There was a debate not so long ago about changing it. After all, the French Anthem was created during the French Revolution. It speaks of war and blood and a lot of people find it too  "violent"

EDIT : WHAT???? Where are the songs ? Why is the video instrumental only??????

My favorite is Germany's, probably because I grew up Lutheran and there's a hymn with the same music. I also like Canada's, South Korea's, Uruguay's, Belgium's and USA's, but I had to pick one.

I don't know any other anthems, and I think the (US) National Anthem is great :).

It's not as pretty as "America the Beautiful" though. There are some really gorgeous arrangements of that song. *tear*

The 4Kids national anthem is the best XD nah, I'm just kidding the United States one is. The 4Kids one is a disgrace to the USA.

The romanian national anthem is freakin' boss.

But so is the North Korean, if you'll excuse me.  :P

Although it's on the list, England doesn't actually have a national anthem.

In cases where a national anthem would be required (e.g. at sporting events where England is competing separately from the other parts of the UK), the choral work Jerusalem is often used as a substitute. Jerusalem is a poem by William Blake which was set to music by Hubert Parry, and it's absolutely lovely. Much nicer than the UK's unofficial national anthem, God Save the Queen/King.

So I voted for England here.

I'm tempted to vote Australia's because of pure Australian patriotism, but I really love New Zealand's Maori national anthem. So my vote goes to New Zealand.

I've always admired "God Save the Queen", it has a haunting and irresistably beautiful tone, and has been also used by Liechtenstein and the US at one time or another. This is the one that got my vote.

Before the Soviet national anthem you all know of, the Soviets of Leninist times used "The Internationale", an originally French song whose message and meaning transcended national borders and stood for revolution the world over in hundreds of languages. It stands as the anthem of leftist political movements in many countries the world over, but the Soviet Union, in the pre-WWII era and throughout the war itself was the only country to use it.

Finally, I have to give it up to my home country. "The Star-Spangled Banner" not only has historical significance, but has been noted as being difficult to sing. It is no shortage of solemn, beautiful, and interestingly entertaining at the same time. When struck just right, it can bring a tear to my eye, but when screwed up, it can be very laughable. There is just nothing like it in the world.
