I'm pretty happy that Dislestia isn't canon. I'm probably the only person who thought that Discord was apologising to Princess Celestia for his actions, but everyone else saw this as trying to flirt with her.

This is my entire experience being part of this fandom.

 

I'm glad however that not every potential ship really is going out there.

Mathematically maximally the function would be ((Total Characters) choose 2) but lots aren't ever even considered, like Tom x Bulk Biceps or Hayseed Turniptruck x Steven Magnets, which reduces the mess a lot.

Actually if Meghan is using the High Heel Face Turn trope when villain is changing sides because of friendship with good guy/girl then Fluttershy fits this trope more than Celestia.

Technically all she pointed out was that the flowers were meant as an apology and thus that scene was not a canon proof scene of Discordia. *shrug*

 

At this point between how poorly SW epi and the comic ship went in the mirror arc I would honestly be surprised if the writers try for anytype of canon romance. The series simply doesn't have room for any real healthy romance to happen on screen and with so many ships they can't please everyone, thus they will alienate/enrage sisters know how many people if they try for anything more then a passing fling or some random old flame coming into town. Personally keeping the shipping to semi vague stuff and not making anything canon is the safest route so that everyone can have their ships and know one can be right or wrong about it.

I didn't personally ship them, nor do I think Discord is even capable of that type of thing (yet), so I go unaffected by this. That said, they probably could have chosen something a little less suggestive than flowers and a wink. I don't blame anyone who was a little weirded out/inspired by that.

As for my thoughts, it really doesn't matter to me either way what they do, so Discord being or not being with Celestia either in the present or past makes no difference to me.

I'm not in the least bit surprised by the response, since I don't think officially they will do any ship whatsoever between any characters not already paired up (ponies under love poison effects notwithstanding).

 

However, for an apologetic gesture, Discord sure was making the eyes at Celestia.
