i'd call them other dimensions, simply because if they were anything less they'd be some serious canon destruction being rained upon by FiM on the previous generations (not that I mind FiM standing victorious over the smoldering corpse that was Gen3 lol)

Other dimensions, most likely, because FiM has in terms of canon distanced itself from the previous generations enough that it'd be difficult blending them together. I still like to think there are lots of FiM equivalents of previous generation ponies out there though.

Yes, I guess they're other dimensions, other worlds. They have nothing to do with the G4 world.

I view them definitely as connected to have having took place in the same world as g4 just on a different part of the timeline. It's hard to debunk that when you see the Mane 6 retelling of adventures that they went on that the gen 1 ponies did, and proving that giant bees/ Flutter Valley/ the Sun stone exist in g4. Or that places with the same names from past gens exist the same as in G4 (Unicornia), and have since been renamed (like areas in our own world) as time progressed

MLP:FiM is inside a Multiverse, a Multiverse formed by 4 Universes, one with G1, another with G2/1.2, and another with G3 connected with G3.5, along G4.
