I don't eat with chopsticks very often, but I can't seem to ever do it properly.

I'd say I'm slowly getting better, I'm good enough to pick up larger pieces of food, but even eating something such as rice can be a bit of trouble without cheating a little!

Noodles are an impossible task though, I don't know how people do it...

I find eating with chopsticks a bit fun, if a tad annoying. Rice is easy so long as it's not lubricated with soy sauce or any kind of cooking oil. Most people I've seen eat white rice eat it plain, because it clumps together easily.

Well, going out with my ex-gf (she's Chinese btw), she taught me how to use chop sticks so whenever I eat Chinese or Japanese food, I always use Chopsticks.

To not be able to eat with chopsticks would bring dishonour to my family!

Srsly though, how else are you supposed to eat instant ramen? 0.o
(apart from eating it dry sprinkled with the seasoning packet, like it was a packet of crisps or something  )

First of all, they are called hashi (among many names though). Second, I can eat lots of food with them and I am quite proficient at eating the standard foods like rice, noodles and other things. They can be used for miso soup as well. My friend from Japan gave me personalized hashi made of wood with my name on it which I save for special occasions. I like my hello kitty hashi too. :3

Thanks to an old girlfriend i find it easy. If i ever had dinner with her family it was a traditional japanese meal which meant chopsticks. I like using them and find it hilarious when my friends who dont know how try.

(edited)

Yep, I can.

I remember the first time I went to China, I was invited to a restaurant along with Chinese people. The first time was kinda humiliating. As a stereotypical European, I ended up asking for a knife and a fork.....

But, I learn fast, and it was much better later on.

I'm British Chinese. The way I eat rice is to have the rice in a bowl, and when you want to eat the rice (as opposed to the food on the dishes on the table), you put the bowl to your mouth, and use the chopsticks to scoop into your mouth.

Now I have a question for you guys: how do western people eat prawns?

I was born to use chopsticks, literally. Though I had to use a fork during my younger days, as my fingers were too small. Unlike everyone else, I just eat chinese or japanese food with a fork(in case you get fried rice instead of white).

I honestly can't tell you the last time I tried or even IF I have ever tried. lol.

If you had any idea of exactly how picky I am in regards to food, there is no chance in the world I would ever be able to eat Asian food. >.<

I admit it might take a little getting used to at first, but anybody with the necessary dexterity in their fingertips should be able to catch on and learn how to eat with them.
