Alex Kennedy 1,228 July 31, 2014 Share July 31, 2014 (edited) (Rp thread: http://mlpforums.com/topic/106472-false-haven-superhuman-rp/) Okay, so first of all, in case "human" being in the title didn't already make it obvious, this is going to be non-pony. Second of all, I'd just like to clarify that I said superhuman instead of superhero because I don't think most of the connotations that come along with being a superhero don't really apply here. And for that matter, characters don't really have to be heroic in nature, either. There's nothing wrong with a good villain. But I digress. This is going to be set in modern day, possibly slightly in the future, and the idea I'm going with- although I may change this slightly- is that while there have always been metahumans, they've become far more common over the past few decades, for reasons that nobody is quite sure of- though there are plenty of theories. In addition to becoming more common, metahumans are appearing with far stronger abilities than previously, and again, nobody seems to know why. Due to this, the government has created an organization to monitor metahumans and people with the potential to develop metahuman characteristics. One of the first things this organization did was to gather metahumans by drawing them to cities known as "Sanctuaries" where hate crimes against them were more strictly enforced, and where metahumans were known to already live in large numbers. While metahumans are by no means forced to live in these places, they are very much encouraged to, both so for their own good, and so that the government can watch them. The RP is going to be set in the oldest of the Sanctuaries, a city called Haven Point (I may very well decide to change that name, though). In Haven point, the government is more concerned with observing it's inhabitants than actually running the city or enforcing the law, which leads to quite a few problems. The city is essentially run by it's most powerful and influential citizens rather than elected officials, and most of those influential citizens are metahumans. These can generally be split into two groups, those who use their power for personal gain, and those who use it to help and protect people. Of course, as with anything, there's plenty of gray area in between. Beyond that, the RP is basically going to be a group of emerging metahumans arriving in the city and trying to make a life there, eventually getting caught up in the power struggles going on. Its going to be somewhat episodical, rather than focusing on a larger overarching plot, but things will still progress and escalate as time passes. Rules: 1. I reserve the right to reject any characters submitted. If I do, I'll try to explain why. 2. This isn't exactly a rule, but romance is allowed and perhaps even encouraged. While it isn't the main focus, it's another dimension that's always nice to have as long as it doesn't completely dominate everything else. Just make sure you take it to PMs if you want to do anything x-rated. 3. Cursing is allowed, but try not to go overboard. Generally if a character is cursing in every line, it just seems stupid after a while. 4. As usual, no godmodding, no mary sues, etc. 5. Seriously though, no godmodding. 6. As DM, I am the one in charge. Respect my authority. 7. Please try to use proper spelling and grammar. It's one of my biggest pet peeves when people don't. I understand the occasional mistake, but at least make an effort. Please. I may add to or edit these rules later. Gyro Zeppeli 120 July 31, 2014 Share July 31, 2014 How interesting that I just was working on re-reading the original super hero rp from back in 2012. I'll finish constructing a character or two (If I am allowed to have multiple) and then post an app.
Alex Kennedy 1,228 July 31, 2014 Author Share July 31, 2014 @@RunsWithSquirlz, Of course. It wouldn't be the same without you. @, Yes, you can have multiple characters. I only ask that you make sure you'll be able to handle playing multiple characters, and that you make sure to clarify which character you're writing for at any given time. Gyro Zeppeli 120 July 31, 2014 Share July 31, 2014 Totally, I've used like seven characters in a single rp before. Im good at this stuff. Ill just finish up my characters and then post them. @@Alex Kennedy,

Alex Kennedy 1,228 July 31, 2014 Author Share July 31, 2014 @@Dji, For the most part, whatever you can come up with. The nature and intensity of powers can be extremely varied. There are only two things I don't want to let players have, which are mind reading and seeing the future. Otherwise, anything goes, pretty much. Whether it's super strength or psychic powers, or pretty much anything else. @@RunsWithSquirlz, Given that I've never really seen you play less than two, I see no reason to limit you to just one now. Gyro Zeppeli 120 August 1, 2014 Share August 1, 2014 Name: Alec Snow Appearance: Approximately 5'11" with short brown hair, hazel eyes, light skin. He wears rectangular glasses and has slight stubble on his face. Thin and not very muscular, Alec likes to think he could win fistfights, but he probably can't. Bio: Alec was born and raised in America and lived an abnormally average life with subpar grades in school. Eventually, his powers awakened, and when they did they awakened with a bang. Abilities: Alec can control the weather. Rain, snow, hail, thunder, he normally just lets things happen as they do, but sometimes he will twist the weather to his favor in some way, usually minor harmless ways, but he is learning how to use his powers for self defense, in isolated areas of course. Notes: -Alec plans on eventually designing a super hero costume and parading around as a vigilante called "Snowfall" -Alec is a chronic procrastinator. And now character two! This one is a bit weird, so I understand if it won't be allowed. Name: Bloodstalker. (Real name Kain Neman) Appearance: He is always seen in a red sleeveless morphsuit with jeans, sneakers, and a jacket worn over it. (His real appearance is shaggy black hair, red eyes, light skin. He is approximately 6'3" and has a muscular build.) Bio: Kain doesn't like people. He is socially inept and rarely leaves home. But when he does, it is often under the guise of the Bloodstalker, a man who fancies the act of killing. Abilities: Hemomancy, the ability to control and solidify his own blood and any external blood he comes in physical contact with. (So he cannot control other people's blood while it is still inside of them.) Notes: None really, all that needs to be said has been said. Again, I realize that the second one is kinda out there, so if you say no, then I fully understand.
Alex Kennedy 1,228 August 1, 2014 Author Share August 1, 2014 @, Alec is accepted. I'll have to think about Bloodstalker. I like hemomancy as a power, but I'm not sure how well he'll work out because of his personality. I just feel like it might be hard to have him really interacting with the other characters. He also might end up being a bit too similar to a villain I was planning. But I'll think about it.

The Dark Lord 332 August 1, 2014 Share August 1, 2014 (edited) Here's my submission. What do you think? Name: Zen Appearance: Bio: Born to a single mother, Zen grew up with the name James West. He had a relatively normal childhood, though he didn't have as much as other kids. Things were good, until he started to manifest his powers. On his 11th birthday, as soon as he blew out the candles on the cake his mom baked him, his powers surged with a vengeance. A dome of energy, originating from him, expanded rapidly, taking out every living thing within his town as well as knocking him out. When he woke up, he saw nothing around him, not even enough to be considered dust. Once he realized what had happened, and that he was the cause of the event, he broke, mentally at least. Just like that, his entire world was taken away, and to make it worse, he caused it. Young James decided to try and detach himself from society all together, leaving his former home before news got wind of the event. He, like all the others of that town, were pronounced dead when authorities got there. He took up the name Zen, not believing himself worthy enough for the name his mother gave him or worthy enough to be forgiven. As the years went by, he discovered that he aged at an astonishingly low rate, barely growing an inch in 3 years. Now 17 and still looking like a kid, He simply travels, mastering his powers. Abilities: Atomic manipulation Notes/other information: Suffers from severe depression and socially distant. Alex Kennedy 1,228 August 1, 2014 Author Share August 1, 2014 @, I'm not sure about this one. It sounds like it's going to be really hard not to make him extremely overpowered. If you keep it under control, I'll allow him. Just don't make me regret it. @, I think, having considered it for a while, that I can let you use Bloodstalker. Just try not to spend the whole RP on a giant rampage. Killing here and there is fine, as long as it isn't all he does.
