There's a method on Pokemon called the "Masuda Method". If you use this method, then you can breed Pokemon and get shinies a lot easier! The trick, though, is that one of the parents has to be a from a country that speaks a different language then yours. So is anypony from a country that speaks a language other that English?

Hmm... I'm not entirely sure.

It looks like the region is saved into the game when you create a new one, so changing it in system settings won't work. Here's something from GameFAQs:

What you can do is change the region in your 3DS, start a new game, catch a scatterbug, send it to another copy of X/Y, change the region on your 3DS again, start a new game, catch a scatterbug, and so forth until you have all the different patterns. Takes about ten minutes from getting the starter, running back to mom, running back to the first town and buying your first pokéballs if you hurry.

No idea which countries count for what regions though - I've tried Netherlands in Y and Austria in X and ended up with orange (Continental) and turqouise (Marine) patterns.

Don't know if that helps or not, but there you go.

Interesting. But I'm not willing to delete my save file. :/
