Why are *some* bronies so feverish in converting and spamming?

This can be why our fanbase has been hated upon by many people.

For instance, in the Hub's Facebook page, you can see (or you had remembered) that sometimes a comment would reply "Needs more ponies". And there are also tales crackling on the Internet like wildfires where "the bronies will force people to convert"!

Why are these bronies doing this? WHY?

We may not figure out the meaning behind their actions, but we can't do anything about that these guys are doing this. People are different and they have different mindsets and sometimes we may not understand the actions some people are doing.

If you don't like that what they are doing you can ignore them.

I use the "needs more ponies" thing as a joke, so sue me if you don't like it.

I've never even actually seen people actively trying to convert people into bronies, I always chalked that up to oversensitive internet dwellers and fictional horror stories.

Also, lots of brony criticism threads lately. Weird.

People want others to be interested in the same things as them. It's a common ground that some people can't find otherwise.

Others push it because it's so unpopular and are just reacting to the overly negative views the series gets. The bronies can be forceful but so can the haters.

Others dedicate large portions of their lives to MLP and the more important something is for you the more you're gonna want people to agree with you. Some go to an extreme and push it on people whether they want to hear it or not.

Every path of life does this, it's not just bronies. Religion, entertainment, careers, politics...we live in a very opinionated world. With so many opinions around us we try to find ways to gets ours known and find others with similar opinions and this leads to the forceful "conversion" talks, for better or worse.

Perhaps they just want a better world who knows but atleast they arent preaching religion and I mean no offence but religion is pretty much a total nightmare for people trying to convert other's so much so I ended up giving a guy who was a jahovas witness a hard time trying to convert me I mean I didnt hit or flame on him I just questioned his belief but second time I saw him his wife was there and she was just a total bitch like the guy but his wife was so full of herself she had to basically look down on me. I would debate with the guy again but as long as his wife was nowhere in site but yeah I think let all make there own minds up and stop forcing it as its where we get our bad publicity from. Give respect and you will recieve respect.

You tend to read too deeply into minutiae sometimes. Sometimes a brook isn't an ocean.

It's again ... Tongue in cheek

yeah you are right but some take it too far and like you say some just misinterprate so its an issue on both sides so if some bronies toned it down and some people who cant take a joke would try to understand better perhaps there wouldnt be too much of an issue. Its just miscommunication really. Oh and its manly because of bulk biceps lol the most manly pony in the show :-s I hate the word manly to be honest. Edited by chaos rains

It's most likely happening because a lot of people are starting to figure out what being a fan of My Little Pony is than someone who spams ponies on comments and forces thier interest in everyone's face (like some certain fetish) Basically, a brony.

Yeah, it bugs me too.

If you wanna tell your friends about the show, that's cool. But, for heaven's sake people, stop acting like the Jehovah's Witnesses of the brony fandom.

This "needs more ponies" phrase is usually intended as a joke though I guess some people misinterpret that, but yes there are some annoying bronies who are a bit too pushy with trying to get people into it. It stems from a profound sense of insecurity, they want to feel accepted and in their mind what better way than to have people all share the same interest as them. Of course this is very short sighted as we have seen not every brony is going to necessarily get along with each other and as great as ponies are there are other things in this world as well that are worth trying.

So someone is not into ponies, but maybe there is another interest said brony may have in common with whatever non brony they are trying to convert. This same insecurity gives them a persecution complex which makes them think that everyone who is not into the show is against it and them which is clearly not the case. You have your hard core haters and people that will be a bit weirded out but there are also a lot of people that don't get much attention that don't care either way so long as it is not shoved in their face.

Why are we even talking about conversion its rediculous. All im saying is why are we talking like its a religion its a cartoon be it a good cartoon meant to do big things but its not religion or politics so dont treat it so badly as conversion is just bad for everything like it or hate it just stop harrassing people who dont think the way you do. Its simple as that and if others do the same just ignore and move on.

I didn't infer anything about "hurting". But to put it bluntly, non-bronies don't care. They especially don't like seeing it repeatedly in random situations.

If they don't care about it, then it shouldn't bother them should it.

What is with all of these opinions regarding the bronies being immature and insecure when they want people to like MLP too? That is not what I get from their fervent devotion as well.

I think the Jehovah's witnesses comment captures exactly what is happening, personally. They even act similarly. Jehovah's witnesses aren't incredibly insecure nor immature. Most of the time they want to help.

I think fervent bronies want that too.

I feel like the massive hatred for bronies on the Internet almost stemmed entirely from this back in he days of /b/ and /co/. Finding the show has helped a great number of bronies, especially the "first" group of bronies coming from 4chan where people are notoriously stereotyped as cynical and hurt among other things. I think there is some truth to that stereotype that shined through which is sort of how the show took off in the first place. The show brought a happiness to many people who had lost it. It certainly did to me and several of the people I spoke to when it first took off.

Now, before everyone pointed out the zealousness as an issue, what would you do if you found something that was practically an emotional panacea? You would share it with everyone! You would push it all over the place because it's really difficult to articulate "Hey, I was in a rough place, and this show about ponies helped me through a lot of it." Even worse, if that is articulated properly you just seem insane. So the end result is a bunch of bronies putting it everywhere, immersing their lives in it, showing it to their friends.

And because bronies had difficultly commenting properly on why they were doing it, and because we were so overbearing with it, it quickly became hated everywhere.

I find it a bit tragic, honestly. I don't think the bronies doing this still are bad, or demand everyone to be like them, or feel unsafe if people judge them. I think they are still doing this because the show touched them and they want it to work its magic on the world.

But the world isn't full of the same people. It doesn't work for everyone. Hell it doesn't work for the majority. And the result is Internet hatred for bronies (Though I think it's dying down.)
