Friendship 100 Years Later

I used to be a stranger

What do you think Twilight and the gang would be like, a century after the events of the first episode? Will Equestria still be around? Will they even still be alive? Will they have descendants? Will Spike have grown? What will become of Ponyville?

I'm curious about headcanons.

Well, if said immortality or longer lifespan applies to non-alicorn born ponies, I see Twily traveling incognito in all Equestria taking out threats, while her grand-grand-child (it don't have to be female you know) governs the castle alongside the descendants of the rest of the elements of harmony. She might have an apprentice, maybe Cadance and Shinning Armor's descendant. Ponyville might become a city by then, with the castle and all...

It's an interesting question.  On a more morbid note, I kind of think the Mane 6 would die as follows:

Rainbow Dash at 38, during a training accident where she was training new Wonderbolt recruits.

Pinkie Pie at 45 from Type II Diabetes (duh).

Rarity at 56 from a stroke brought on by decades of stressing over everything and not taking care of herself.

Flutershy at 61 from a heart attack caused by a mouse jumping on her chest.

Twilight Sparkle at 77 gets assassinated by her apprentice.

Applejack at 89 dies peacefully in her sleep.

They will certainly be dead, even Twilight. Maybe not Spike though.

Equestria will still be here and other ponies (maybe the descendants of the mane 6) will be the new elements of Harmony.

My best guess is that maybe all of their children's children will be friends.

And maybe Twilight will become immortal.

Spike will be massive and such.

Ponyville may become modernised, since well it hasn't been all that long since it's been around. Either that or it'll be consumed by the ever free forest.

If Twilight got Alicorn immortality, then i'm afraid she'll eventually outlive her friends. Though i'm certain if that'd ever happened, she'd find a way to immortalize them somehow. Spike'll probably be huge.

As for the populace in ponyville, a hundred years will have passed, so i'm certain nopony remembers the socially awkward bookworm that moved into the town's library anymore - by now they'll probably be awkwardly gawking at Twilight with awe and reverence, maybe something more akin to how they look at the other princesses now.

Such an arc/spinoff/sequel series would be interesting, but it would have to be handled delicately. It's possible Twilight will live on as an Alicorn, and that would be confirmation that Celestia and Luna have lived as long as they have because they're Alicorns. The rest of the Mane Six will be dead, but there can't be any reference to how and when they died. The implication that they're not around anymore on its own could be enough to make this proposed series or story arc too dark for a children's cartoon, so I don't think it should be done. Spike will probably still be around. Maybe he'll be like a royal bodyguard.

If this were just a story arc, it could be about Twilight coping with her longevity. If it were a spinoff/sequel series, I probably wouldn't have Twilight as the main character. There would have to be a new mane cast, probably of 5-7 characters. In all due honesty, when it comes time for a new series, I'd rather it be an entirely new series with its own premise and characters and whatnot. If someone wants to write a 100 years later fanfic, it might be a good read though.

My headcanon is that the Mane cast has highly extended lifespans due to Rainbow Power and the Elements of Harmony, and would be alive at the end of 100 years.

Granny Smith was in her youth at the founding of Ponyville, and when Diamond Tiara's great grandfather Stinking Rich was alive. Assuming generational averages, this would suggest the Granny Smith is four generations old or so, easily exceeding eighty years or more, and possibly even centenarian.

This leads me to believe that the lifespan of an average pony, assuming they are in good health, can live 25% longer than a regular human can.

Thus the Mane Cast would be alive, though for most of them not much longer. I would assume out of them Pinkie Pie would be the first to expire, probably due to heart failure or other long-term physical exhaustion-related decay.

At the end of a century, the Mane Cast's grandchildren would be nearing the prime of their youth. Equestria has a space program, Ponyville has expanded some, and in no small way the Elements of Harmony would've been employed numerous times to 'save-the-day-again'.

Seriously thinking about it, but the Mane Cast (alive or dead) are not principal characters.

If alicorns are unaging, then Twilight will still be around.  It is just possible AJ will still be alive, like Granny Smith but perhaps more so.   It is probable that some of the older ponies will still remember some of the Mane 6 or the CMCs.  (Some of the stuff they did will likely live on in town legends)

This assumes they don't all die in battle, of course
