So rumor goes around Discord's going to be a janitor in the Equestria Girls: Rainbow Rocks movie, if he's in it at all, or something to the effect of a janitor. If he is one, it'll be really weird when he asks Fluttershy on for cucumber sandwiches and tea. Think about it. A 60 (or whatever age he is) year old man whispers into an 18 year old's ear if they want to meet later. And there's no doubt Discord likes Fluttershy. I mean, season 4. That is all.   If they're going to put Discord in the movie, I think they should lower down his age a bit. Just a little. At least then, it won't be so creepy and illegal.

The relationship is fine, I think, considering the ambiguity of the mane six's ages and the undetermined lifespan of ponies in the show, but having a 50-year-old janitor Discord would really, really mess with my fan fictions.

Then again, not like it's gonna be canon... right?

Besides, I doubt Discord would ever settle for being a simple janitor. Hm, I'd hate to see a humanized Discord, too. I don't think anyone would be able to pull that off well.

As Discord has appeared in one shot of an EqG2 teaser, I don't think he'll appear in any other place in the movie. It does not appear that Fluttershy is found of Discord just in doll form, either.

 

In conclusion, I really, really hope Discord's not going to be a janitor.

Please, be kind to my fellow shippers and me. Fluttercord is no more canon than any other non-canon shipping, but that does not make it less worthy of being supported. They are purely friends in the show, but so are the participants of virtually every other pairing. If you don’t like the shipping, I’d be happy to discuss it in a topic like this one— but isn’t this topic already somewhat an anti-Fluttercord? Yes, the majority of posters have been Fluttercord fans so far, but this topic is about how creepy the shipping would be if Discord was implemented in EqG2. I don’t think anyone here has claimed (yet) that Fluttercord is canon— which it isn’t— but that doesn’t make it an invalid shipping.

This is a discussion for another topic, though— I’ll add something to put it back on track.

 

If Discord were to appear in EqG2 as a janitor, their relationship wouldn’t have any hints of romance whatsoever. While moments in S4 of the show can be interpreted as romantic gestures (Discord handing Celestia flowers is a particularly popular one, though I personally prefer Discord’s squee), I really would not like for anything similar to that to be in the movie. It’s hardly appropriate for a 50-year-old and a female teenager to be close friends (assuming they are not family and the 50-year-old initiated the relationship, social protocol and rules, yadayadayada), much much much less lovers/implied crushers.

While I’m a (huge) fan of the shipping, I’d hate for the age gap to be present with any romantic implications in a human world. It’s weird as it is in the poniverse— even if I think it's adorable— which is an opinion, by the way, that I don't mind anyone here not sharing.

Make him some kind of student that got expelled at the school, reformed by flutters, and since in the show he had to go to canter lot make him work in the front office! I could see him as the secretary but he really does nothing but sit around and flip through magazines and maybe makes some paper air planes.  -_- but jainitor would make me feel REALLY uncomfortable...

I can just image Discord being a general pal if in EG2, I have no idea what his role would even be if he was to appear in the next movie. On another note I doubt Discord actually loves Fluttershy per se, they're just really good friends. I don't know how it'll work in the next Equestria Girls movie, but I'm curious to find out.

He will not appear in Rainbow Rocks. Based on what Meghan and Jason said, Discord along with Chrysalis and Zecora suppose to appear "in something else". Presumably "Equestria Academy". There was never anything else than assumptions and rumors about him being a janitor. He might be a troublemaking student for all we know. Age in Equestria Girls doesn't really make sense. Even Big Macintosh and Photo Finish became teenagers so its also possible for Discord.

It wouldn't be too creepy honestly. Canonically Discord and Flutters are just friends. I don't see anything wrong with a 60 year old and an 18 year old being friends. Age shouldn't be a factor in friendship. Besides, Discord from the pony universe is more than 1,000 years older than Flutters. That's a much bigger difference.

 

 As for shipping. Well, you could always ship the pony universe ones, and not the EQG ones. They're technically separate beings despite their similarities.

That being said I quite like ships with big age gaps so I wouldn't care much...though I see Discord more as a middle aged man then an old man, he's too energetic to be like 60+...35 - 45 seems more fitting to me.

We need to push our Earth standards aside. It is usually look down upon for 80+ and 20+ pairings because one of them is not "in shape" for a relationship or for starting a family. Its an age where  body fail to work, health is weaker and chances of natural death is raised. While its still romantic and seen as progressive in tv show like "Modern Family" (Pritchett family) we can understand why we dont usually see cartoons and movies with such age difference. We want to see happy endings with romance leading to family and kids maybe.

 

However, in this case this is Equestria and magic make impossible things possible. You can travel in time, teleport or change shape.

Discord fall to the category of a fantastic creature that is implied to be immortal or at least living for a long time. By the look of his shape, how he move and act, also by the look of his ponified version and fact that his hair are black and not grey (his beard and eyebrows are just taken from a goat) we can assume he stuck around his early 30's to late 40's. And since he never had a friend which would imply that he also never had a lover we can see that he is on the same emotional level as Fluttershy(they didn't discover love)

 

I also don't need to mention that there are many fictional characters that are over 100 year old that are being shipped with younger characters by millions of fans in many titles. And you can't blame them because in that case age is just a number. I will give you example of one in a live action movie and in an anime and 2 in a western animation- a male and female. Im sure there are plenty of other examples in video games(Planescape Torment anyone?),animations and movies.

No one's age in the movies is accurate, even the mane six are made a bit younger so that they can be high school students, but Discord is as ancient as the princesses, so it makes sense to group them together.

 

As for shipping, I'll admit it would be weird in that context. In fantasy, it's not about how old people actually are, it's about how old they look

Only in Equestria Girls. But just like Photo Finish is not a teenager, Mane6 are also at least 20  or at least considered "adults" based on various videos made by show analysts.

I guess that is one of the reason to ship them in canon. So people would stop having prejudices regarding age. These are characters with their own preferences, they will decide on their own about the age of their partners. Spike would not had a crush on Rarity but more likely on CMC if he based his preferences on age. You don't need to match them according to their age like some breeding animals.
