I was talking with my friend @FadedSkies the other night and he introduced me to this cool little show called Martin Mystery :D

post-20419-0-79387500-1409271949_thumb.png

It runs out kind of like a Scooby Doo episode in the fact they're usually investigating monsters of some sort. The cool part to me is, though, that unlike Scooby Doo, the monsters aren't some dude in a costume, but they're real. Some of them are even based off of folklore, which I find to be fascinating :D

The characters are also very interesting. There's a lot of bickering between Martin and his step-sister, Diana, and Java is a Caveman who they found on a mission once, as seen in one of the episodes somewhere :D

The animation has a bit of an anime style to it, as well, and even though I don't really like anime in of itself, I really do appreciate how beautiful the animation and the art style is.

It also takes place mostly in Canada, but that makes sense because it's a Canadian cartoon meant for Canadian audiences. I find that interesting as well, since all the locations in the show are real places (for the most part.) I love that in a show :D

Lastly, the main characters are from Quebec. Go Habs :D

Yeahh. I've been marathoning it for the past couple of days and I was just wondering if there are any other fans of the show on these forums :D If you're interested in watching it, you can just find the episodes on YouTube :D

Also, I just want to point out that Tabby voices this recurring character :please:

And that this guy also has the same voice as Double D from "Ed, Edd, 'n Eddy" :D

Um...it actually did air in America, I remember watching the heck out of it and recognizing it as being from the same guys that did Totally Spies.

Oh, oops. I'll fix that real quick :please:

I'd never even heard of it until the other night :please: My bad.

Yep, I watched this. I honestly can't say that it jumped out at me and got my attention,  but I found Java hilarious at times and I did enjoy a few of the episodes. You are dead right about it having a bit of that Scooby Doo spirit though.

Megas XLR is an American animated action comedy television series created by Jody Schaeffer and George Krstic for Cartoon Network. The series revolves around two slackers: mechanic Coop and his best friend Jamie, who find a mecha robot from the future called Megas (Mechanized Earth Guard Attack System) in a New Jersey junkyard. Coop modifies Megas and replaces his head, the control center, with a classic muscle car, and names him XLR (eXtra Large Robot). Together with Megas's original pilot Kiva, they must defend Earth from the evil alien race called "the Glorft". The series is an homage and parody of mecha animation

Ah, I still remember this show terrifying me at times back when I watched it as a kid.  What I most remember about it however is that during a random facts segment that ran parallel to the show, they mention that it's very very loosely based on a comic of the same name. How loosely am i talking here?

Well, the characters all have the same names but not only is there no secret organization called The Center, but the two main characters Diana and Martin are step siblings in the show. In the comic however...they're lovers and later husband and wife.

I never got to see this one, but it looks fairly interesting and the animation looks decent. I might have to give that one a watch, alongside Cypersix. :D

I think I only saw a few episodes, compared it to newer Scooby-Do and Totally Spies, and then shrugged it off due to it not being my thing....

It was made by the same people who made Totally Spies, me thinks :D I think it's a lot better than the new Scooby-Do, though, for sure. New Scooby is kind of...blah. Martin Mystery has a good chunk of humor as well as a very dark atmosphere for a kids show :D

I should pick up on some episodes, now that you've got me talking about it :P I watch it before I go to school in the morning on ze YouTubes, but I kind of want to cheat a little and start one up now :please:

Never really liked Anime, much, but not for the style. I've just always felt the stories being told were...er, asinine  :please:

The animation style is beautiful, though :D I can see some minor anime elements in the animation style of both Martin Mystery and Totally Spies :proud:

I actually agree very much! Most anime is really stupid, but it really takes some digging to find anime that is worthwhile. Just as there are cartoons for everyone, there is an anime for every person....Most anime I go for are more realistically mature and human...not giant gun/sword wielding skinny people who fight each other  and have romantic relationships that lead nowhere fast....

The anime I watch is often very niche, but sadly the clique of anime involves many girls kicking butt....hence why I mentioned that...Of course back then, I was sucked up into Naruto and it took a while for my current taste to develop.

I do like Totally Spies animation, I also read about Magnus XLR here, and the animation is quite similar...but so is Ben 10 and a lot of action-y cartoons that are/have been around since those days...

I remember watching it when I was a kid

Thought it was cool, I certainly did

If you liked that, you might like Code Lyoko

Similar, though it looks less like its from Tokyo

?That last rhyme is a bit of a stretch. All this thinking will make me retch.
