Deep Web?

Hi everypony. Some minutes ago, my friend told me about the Deep Web, a thing that I've never heard before. We made a little research but we couldn't be sure about whether it's legal or not. Anyway, what do you think about it? Have you ever tried it?

The only thing I know about it is that a lot of illegal stuff happens there.I don't think its illegal to access the deep web itself, but some of the stuff you can find there will land you in jail if you get caught. Its my understanding that you can find child porn there, and black markets. I don't know how true that is. I've never been there myself.

Maybe somebody on this forum has actually been there and can chime in.

As far as I know, the Deep Web in itself is not illegal, and nor is access to it. However, most everything that takes place there certainly is. Never been there, but I've researched it a bit myself, and I'm going to have to agree that that's where you go to find black market weapons, child porn services, to find hitmen and assassins for hire or to find more obscure illegal drugs... Stuff like that.

I'm actually pretty sure that accessing the deep web on a known IP gets you put on some sort of government watchlist. Sure, going there isn't illegal, but going there in the first place implies illegal activity, which is enough reason they need to watch you. So I'd heavily advise against going there.

Dilema: I'm utterly disgusted by all of the things mentioned above, but I'm also incredible curious about how to access it

I mean, is "deep web" a website we can find by simply googling it, is it a web of sites that someone has to give you access to, are there viruses (damn my priorities) and so on...

Viruses? Almost definitely.

Like I said, this isn't a place you want to go unless you know what you're doing and you have to

Search it on Youtube. I think I've seen a video by like Vsauce or someone about what the Deep Web is.

Deep web by definition describes pages which are inaccessible through search engines.

However, let's discuss deep web in the context of Tor. There's nothing illegal about Tor as a whole. In fact, Tor is used as a way for people whose privacy/rights are being oppressed to share possibly sensitive information. However, due to the extreme sense of security behind Tor, people with malicious intents use it, which is how Tor has gained such as infamous reputation. You can access it using the Tor Browser. There are plenty of websites which index .onion links. However, please steer clear of illegal content, especially CP. If you have the mind to go on these websites even for curiosity, then you would be making a big mistake.

You can buy $5,000 worth of counterfeit $20s for only $2000 worth of bitcoins.

The same website also sells guns and marijuana through the mail.

It's probably not illegal to browse the shopping sites with Tor, but obviously I would avoid the ones containing child pornography.

@Pinky Pie and @Caleb Rosengard, what you are talking about isn't 4chan which we like to build up as the pit of the internet mostly for hyperbolic humor. I would recommend against too much curiosity with Tor (which has its place).

^ Listen to that advice.

@@Jeric, Well, I don't even know what Tor is, but I'm glad you're so worried, and that is the reason why I'd rather just watch the videos mentioned above, for I really don't feel like looking much further.

Tor prevents people from learning your location or browsing habits. Tor is for web browsers, instant messaging clients, and more. basically its like access to the deep web (at least thats what i assume)

You really don't want to go there. It's not illegal, but there are a lot of unpleasant, questionable and downright illegal things on the deep web. I've had freenet and tor installed before, but I never really did anything with them. Freenet was an experiment and a bit of curiosity and Tor was purely for privacy. I've also been on a few sites that use the gopher protocol too, but they're pretty much safe.

Here you go.

Names to know about the Deep Web are the Silk Road and BitCoin. And if you even bother trying to find anything there, MAKE SURE you use the Tor network. I still advise against even trying, but if you don't listen to me at least take the proper precautions.

Just avoid it. About the best thing you can do in regards to that 'place.'

I know a fair amount about the Deep Web, even though I have never been there before. But I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND to not visit, as there is disturbing contend all the time over there such as drug dealing, child porn, anything that is considered illegal, can all be found on the Deep Web. So as I said, ENTER AT YOUR OWN RISK.

I remember reading on Reddit a while back that the guy who ran most of the sites on the deep web was arrested, and the URLs were seized by authorities. Tor is funded by the FBI. Most of the exit nodes lead to the FBI. It's just a waste of time that's full of a bunch of illegal stuff. Avoid it.
