Forceful with your Fandom ?

Jonquil Earthpony

Recommended Posts

hi everypony :) I was wondering, how forceful are you with being a brony ?

What I mean by things is do you constantly talk about MLP to non-fans ? Are you very open with it but know when to stop talking about it ? Do  people get annoyed because you talk about MLP non-stop?

I have noticed  that a couple bronies I know are very open with being a fan ( which is good ;)) but sometimes they drive people ( myself included) nuts by just going on and on and on.

but the worse part is when they get defensive when people disagree with their opinion and become hateful; I thought bronies would know to love and tolerate non- MLP fans.

what are your thoughts on this ? Is it wrong to get annoyed by fans like this ? :wat:

Some people may be more passionate about the show than other people. We can't stop that. We need to understand their viewpoint and their passion about the show. We can't change who people are we can only change who we are ourselves.

but the worse part is when they get defensive when people disagree with their opinion and become hateful;

If you say "Lol MLP is shit get a life" I'm pretty sure many of them get defensive, because their reaction is based on your action. So they don't get defensive if your action is not offensive or insulting. Some may still get defensive so you have to pick your words carefully. When people feel that they are attacked they attack you back and that is the reason why people tend to get so pissed of. You should be kind and understanding if you don't want them to get defensive. Listen what they have to say and don't try to force them to stop.

Offer them kindness then you should get kindness from them too.

If you want to disagree with their opinion You should say something along with lines: "I see your point but and I totally understand why you think that way, but I think that..." then say your point of view. You should try to be nice to everypony, because you can't know how they will react to different situations.

I think people are allowed to speak what they want to who they want and that is their own decision and if they think that is good decision I accept it.

It is not wrong to get annoyed by this, you can get annoyed if you want and that is your decision. However if you get annoyed the other person may notice that and they may react differently that you expected them to react.

Well, to love and tolerate is not this fandoms mantra, it was actually a semi-sarcastic remark made to reply to trolls in the original /co/ threads before the fall of 4chan.

And as for forcing my fandom, I enforce my rule with an iron fist, crushing all opponents before me in a wave of iron pony power. I will stomp out the heretic that dares to disagree with my perfect rule and order, and all shall bow to the might of the pony empire.

so to answer your question, no I am not forceful at all. Now pick up that can citizen.

Yes when bronies are attacked being densive is completely reasonable. When non fans just say "i dont like mlp " theres nothing wrong and bronies shouldnt get angry or upset . I heard one of my brony friends was trying to "convert" people .( his words not mine) To me it just seems a bit odd to want to convert people into liking MLP

People know I'm a fan, and I'll talk about it if someone asks. Occasionally happens. And I may make some jokes about it at my expense (because I know it's kinda weird) but that's all. I'm not going to be "that guy" who won't shut up about something nobody else cares about.

I wear my Applejack short with pride. I don't hide my bronyness. However, I'm not going to start fawning over MLp with somebody whose not into the show. That's not being a fan, that's just being annoying.

If it comes up naturally in a conversation, I'll talk about MLP. Otherwise you'd never know I was a brony. I just assume it's something that most people don't care about.

This was something I suspected but wasn't really around for. When I've seen things like "I'm going to love and tolerate the shit out of you" it was hard to think it was anything but sarcasm.

It's really weird that people take it seriously now.

Daniel Ingram even included the phrase in this really sappy version of the theme song.

Literally everyone in my grade knows I'm a brony now.  It just happened so quickly...

Occasionally we talk about MLP, or they comment on my stuff when I draw or write something related to it, but other than that we're pretty cool. We've had about two/three conversations related to it in the past month, and it's just to poke fun at it. P:

I'm not really a brony, though. Not too much...

A younger friend of mine became a brony this summer. He's not annoying talking about it, and I can talk about it informing it about things I know that could be interesting for him.

I'll occasionally talk about it to people that don't like it, but not a whole lot. I prefer to talk about it with other bronies.

Yes. It's one of the reasons anime fans annoy me so much.

I pretty much almost never bring it up to anyone. Ever.

However, once I do...I can't stop. It's like a floodgate. I hold it back, but the second it opens it all comes rushing out. I've always been a bit obsessive with the things I like, I can't seem to help it. I have a hard time finding other people offline who are interested in the things I'm interested in. So, the second I find someone who shows even the slightest hint of interest, or a certain situation comes up, I just start talking and talking and talking...

I know others find it annoying. But once I get into that excitable mood I just completely forget about it. I usually eventually realize I'm making them uncomfortable and then I just sort of awkwardly apologize and slink back into my dark, quiet corner. Then I pretty much just don't talk at all for a while.

There are Bronies and then there are fanatic Bronies. Fanatic Bronies are like people who have found the light of God Celestia and wont shut up about it. Even going as far as to leave pamphlets on your doorsteps and hope you convert.

I find It really annoying to be honest on non mlp sites when they spam chat about how awesome MLP is. Yes we know you have seen the metaphorical light please shut up your making us all look bad.

No one knows I watch my little pony. Every now and then I give little hints to see if anyone around will pick up on it (really obscure mlp references that fit with the moment). I don't tell anyone about it because I don't really see the need to. My second phone background, right now, is sunset shimmer, if anyone notices it good on them.

I once sent a link to a friend on twitter and said watch this so your life can begin.

but to be honest, I only said thins because he had an MLP avatar and had never seen the show.

>_> and he was following all these mlp twitter accounts.

at least watch one, I said.  ^_^ *sigh* he must have really liked the art or something.

I only talk about it if my friends are really bored and want to watch a TV show (I showed one of my best friends a Canterlot Wedding recently and she liked it) but otherwise no unless someone brings it up.

 did somepony just make a joke about Jehovah witnesses?

hehe well...

I really haven't met any bronies like that , not that I doubt they exist.

I guess some of the bronies I've seen on twitter might count. I have been trapped in flame wars between fellow bronies and brony haters.

sometimes I just wanna shout "just block the haters","don't feed trolls when you know that they'll follow you home", or "UNTAG me"

I see this all the time but I normally end up staying out of it.

:okiedokielokie: lol

NO ONE MUST KNOW.

There aren't many bronies at my school anyway. I make references here and there, so whoever understands those references just thinks of me as a mysterious brony.

I recently became a brony (always loved the show but just got more serious about liking it), so not many people know about it. I don't have friends who are open about it either. If I did, I would be talking about it all day. :P
