Dragon =/= Dog in Equestria girls

So I was reading up on the reasoning behind making Spike a mutt in the last movie and came across something interesting. Apparently Megan Mccarthy stated that the only reason Spike was turned into a dog is because "it would of been weird to have a boy hide in twilights backpack"

Of course the plethora of logic errors behind such a decision boggles my mind now.

(First being Why does spike need to "hide" if he made very little attempt to last movie. If dragons are not dogs why only Spike then? He appears to be around Cmc age and they go to the same "school" so why could he not pass as a student? Does Twilight need his assistance so much he has to take a role of a pet just to be by her side? We know thats not true, so does Spikes see himself as less than a pony and more of a pet? Does the portal go by self image? Was it calibrated to make him a dog? Ect ect ect)

At least we can walk away knowing Clifford the other dimensional dragon dog isn't running around. What do you think about Spike being a dog despite dragons not being the equivalent of dogs?

From a story perspective, spike being a dog actually mkes alot of sense....  LEts just say that the mirror was totally meant to be used only by equine, and that the mirror turns any equine that travels to the human universe, into a human by design. Now lets say our mirror creator got lazy, and put in a randomizer function on all other species, turning all non-equine into a being of similar size. And now by sheer luck spikes form in the other world is a lovable pooch!!

I think that Spike himself, even as a dragon, is equivalent to a dog. Think about it. Twilight considers Spike as her "faithful assistant." Or, in other words, her companion . Guess what we people consider our dogs as? That's right. They're our companions, just like Spike is to Twilight.

Another piece of reasoning I have about the whole Spike/dog/human thing: it wouldn't make sense to make both Twilight and Spike into humans, as Twilight and Spike are two different species. In EqG, when Twilight and Spike went through the portal, they basically traded places, as far as anatomy goes. Twilight became a biped, and Spike became a furry. Final conclusion: Spike becoming a human may seem cute, but it's illogical due to the fact that two different species can never be/look the same, even if there's portal magic involved.

True.... but the diamond dogs are dogs in equestria, which means that if the human world had magic, they would become dragons. But, the human world DOESN"T have magic, so naturally they are humans in the human world. I hope that makes sense.

I would by this theory if there were other dragons like spike running about being companions and there were not actual dogs in equestria. Spike is probably the child of some evil dragon Celestia beat and she kept the egg to raise it for good or something like that. Remember his Nature is based on selfishness, greed, and hoarding while his nurturing has made him giving, selfless, and keeps almost nothing but the bare nessesities for himself.

Rule #1 of cartoons: Don't try to put logic in a fictional world.

Including the world of marshmallow mutant mutli-technicolored singing horses.

@Darker Once again I cannot express more disdain for such an unimaginative and boring position and post. Especially from someone clearly smart enough to think outside the box and suspend disbelief. Step up your game man, I know you are capable of it.

Huh. What a comment.

Don't judge such a stupidly fun comment like the one I just made. It's true, in most, if not all cartoon realism is gone, even if they try to show us, it's still just animated pure fictional characters.

Also, MLP is full of insonsistencies, for the fact that it's a very strange setup with strange characters and fantastic creatures, with elements from different mythologies.(That's a problem to me, all mythologies can't coexist, they are different universes and they can't be brought together.)

It's also that will probably never be explained here. Maybe when creatures enter from one world to another they don't always turn into a certain species. Maybe it's because in MLP dragons are usual companions? And that's why Spike became a dog, because dogs are human's companions?

Cartoon logic doesn't always makes sense. So many theories, it always hurts my brain.

I know it doesnt always make sense just as much as you. Personally I find a lot of enjoyment finding the order in chaos. Its like the whole Helix "religion" that popped out of the massive online game of pokemon, they found their own head canon collectively and it was glorious. Its fun to find reason where there its not always present.

Whether in jest or not its comments that dismiss the persuit and tell others to do the same that irks me. lose yourself in the fantasy a bit, no harm will come of doing that. I am not even mad at you, just fustrated that you choose to deny something so immersive and wonderful.

Now what is your theory for spike being a dog, humor me a sec.

That still wouldn't explain why EQG!Spike is an ordinary dog while Mane! Spike can speak. Or why EQG! Spike is still a dog. (Que end credits of Rainbow Rocks) That just seems degrading to Spike..poor Spike.

I've stated in the past that I think the in-universe reason for Spike the Dragon becoming a dog in the Equestria Girls World, while the Diamond Dogs' other world selves are human is simple.

The Ponies and Diamond Dogs are mammals in Equestria, right? right. Spike is a dragon, which is some kind of fictional reptile, right? Right.

Well, I believe the sentient beings that are mammals in Equestria become the human species in Equestria Girls World. Being sort of a reptile, Spike became a different species than the others. Think about it like that.

To me, it doesn't matter whether Spike's a dragon, dog, human or whatever. He's still the Spike we know and love and he's still there for his friends.
