How equestria could one day exist.

Now I know what you're thinking "how could that be possible equestria can't exist", well one day we might be able to create it via something known as transhumanism. Transhumanism suggests that in the future humans could upload their very consciousness to a computer and gain god like abilities such as immortality, now one of the benefits of said technology is augmented reality and AI. So in the future using the transhumanist technologies we could create equestria and the mane six(and maybe other characters), look up transhumanism for more information.

Well, there is always the "Friendship is Optimal" method.  (I think you might like that story and some of the many spinoffs)

 

Barring that, there is dimensional travel or space travel depending upon how lucky one is.

Isn't the brain thing supposed to happen by like 2050 if not sooner? I swear I read about it somewhere, but I doubt it ever really will happen. It would be like the holodeck where if it got invented everyone would work only enough to keep the lights on and that's it.

Well, it sounds probable, but then we would be only doing an advanced simulation of it. I think the way to find Equestria would be through some form of interdimensional travel. I think that's the only way where we would be talking about Equestria being "real".

Well it is theorized that in the future robots will do all our work for us so there will be no real need for money or anything, also if we lived in computers then we wouldn't need food or water.

We'd have to have multiple systems of back up though, same with the generators...and batteries, really the whole darn thing would have to be insanely redundent to keep from literally losing your mind, even with a.i. assistance. Plus there'd still have to be people outside to keep it working if anything did break. The dimensional travel method might turn out to be easier.
