I've always wanted to be a part of music

The title explains itself. Ever since I was a small child I've not only wanted to write music, but be able to play it and start a band. Sure I may specialize in a small part of technology but music is what I really wanted to do. I don't know where to start or who would even accept me. I am pretty good at singing but I've always preferred drum and bass, I played bass for a year but sadly I gave it away as a gift because my fiances little sister wanted it and I thought my dream was no longer achieveable. The drums I've played on and off at a local bar, but can't play/practice as much as I would like. If anyone could show me a small path or a direction to send this music loving stallion he would really love the help. If you're woundering what genre I listen to, I am heavily influcened by Blink-182, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Avenged Sevenfold, and Green Day.

All stringed instruments are NOTORIOUSLY difficult and take YEARS to learn and master. Writing songs that sound good take quite an amount of musical theory. Think of a painter with only a few colors to work with. Think about what instrument appeals to you. Do you want to be musical and write like guitar? Or would you prefer to support guitarists and play bass? Drums is very hard but the musical theory isnt required. Vocals is pretty easy but relies on a lot of natural ability. If you arent the type to work with music with your hands try electronic music of DJing

I try to write music, yet I am not very good at it. I play guitar, bass, and drums. It took me a while to get good at them. Oh, and you might want to invest in a guitar if you want to write music. Guitar or Piano/Keyboard.

I really want to make music too, I have a vast knowledge of theory, I can play the trumpet, am currently learning piano, And I have been singing since I was about six. There's only one problem, I'm still in high school, living with four other siblings, in a pretty small house, with no place for recording or equipment to do so, and no job. So the only thing I can do is wait. Oh, and I am also terrible with lyrics, but I can try to offer advice or help where possible.
