I have a confession to make. I am the proud owner of a nice gaming PC, but I really don't know anything about it. I had my friend assemble a shopping list for me within my budget and had someone else build it for me.

Do I still get to be a member of the PC Master Race?

As long as you recognize that the PC is superior to consoles, yes.

Mine's not quite as epic... Here's my parts list:

Silverstone Raven 3 (case)
EVGA GeForce GTX 760 (Graphics Card)
Alpenföhn Brocken (Cooler)

Kingston HyperX Genesis Grey (RAM, 8GB)
MSI Z87-G45 Gaming Series (Motherboard)

LiteOn DH-4O3S-04-B (Blu-ray disk drive)
BeQuiet Pure Power L8 530W (Power supply)

Intel Core i5-4670k 3.40GHZ (Processor)
Asus Xonar DGX 5.1 PCI-Express (Sound Card)
Icy Box IB-863-B (Front panel)
SanDisk Ultra Plus 128GB (SSD)
Seagate Barracuda 2TB 7200RPM (HDD)

Presently I only have the one screen - though I have a spare screen and a VGA cable to plug it in with. Only problem is my PC doesn't actually have any VGA inputs, and I don't know which type of connection is uses for monitors at all...

Shamefully, I also didn't actually put it together myself - I had Overclockers UK (a gaming PC shop near where I live) put it together for me...

But hey, this thing can run most anything on Ultra settings at 60FPS~

I never quite understood why people buy "gaming" RAM considering it is merely a marketing term and no better than stock RAM. Anyway, I am not going to post the whole of my specs. Just the important stuff :

Here goes :

Screen : ASUS VG278HE (Active 3D)

CPU : Intel Core i5-4670 (no K version because I am not into overclocking)

Graphics Card : MSI GTX 780.

The 780 is slowly dying (in terms of power, lol), I am going to replace it soon....

I am not and will never be apart of the "PC Master Race", but I did recently put together a PC that is (hopefully) perfect for running all of The Sims 3 + Expansion Packs (and hopefully Civ IV/V... Those can't require too much...):

Intel Core i5 4430 Quad Core 3.0GHZ Processor

Gigabyte H97M-HD3 mATX LGA1150 H97 DDR3 PCI-E16 2PCI-E1 Xfire SATA3 USB3 HDMI Motherboard (I am sooo "I have no idea" with all of that OMG)

Um... 8GB of RAM

256GB Crucial MX100 SSD

Western Digital Caviar Blue 1TB SATA 6GB/S 7200RPM 64MB Cache 3.5IN Hard Drive OEM

ASUS Radeon R9 270X

Corsair CX Series CX500W Power Supply

I know... Varying degrees of detail there. Decided to leave out info on the DVD drive, SD card reader and case. They're important, of course, but yeah...

You can compare that to my current PC which, IIRC goes like this:

AMD Athlon II 2.20Ghz

6GB RAM

Radeon HD 3200 (integrated!)

500 GB Hard Drive

Yeah, I think the games will run sooo much better on the new PC.

Can't upload pics just yet because I ordered in some new stuff to make it flashier, bb~

Also on my laptop

Now, my specs

GPU: Asus GeForce GTX 760 2gb DirectCU II OC 2-Way SLI
CPU: I7-3770

Heatsink: Hyper 212 EVO
Motherboard: Asrock Extreme4 Z77 LGA1155
PSU: CX 600M
16 GB Corsair  RAM
Monitor: BenQ 24" 1920x1080 16:9 60 hz

Case: Antec 1200 v3

2 TB HDD

Headset: Logitech G930

Mice: Special-built gaming mouse, Razer Taipan, cheap $20 Staples mouse, V3 Bloody mouse (recently got)

Looking to get more RAM and another HDD at some point, the rest of the stuff is irrelevant <3

My temps are never above 35 idle and under a load they will never get anywhere near 60.

FPS (approximate) in random games with latest drivers
BF4 (shockingly low): 70~ Previous drivers gave me about double that

TF2: 200+

Halo: CE LOL: 2.000+

BF3: 200+

CS GO: 170

Minecraft: 400 dips to the 100s when in heavy situations or lots of explosions or things to load

Metro Last Light: 200+

Fallout 3: 200+

Arma 2: Varies too much to give a proper answer

Borderlands 2: 200+

Sniper Elite III: 100

Watch Dogs: 70

Average FPS of all variable games: 173,63~

It varies so much that graphics are obviously not the deciding factor in how much FPS I get, but rather how optimised it is.

So, today, this kid in my Government class tried telling me that the only good games on PC were ones like "Diablo" and "World of Warcraft" and that consoles were better for everything else

I lel'd

:\ I'm not going to say consoles are useless because when I want to play with friends while slumped back in a couch I'd love a nice console, but does he know about series such as Battlefield or rather any FPS, The Elder Scrolls, Minecraft..

My PC is about 7 or 8 years old now, and I had to replace RAM and added 1 gb, so now it's 4 instead of 3, and I got a better video card. It works until I get better someday.

When I want to play with friends while slumped back in my chair, I hook up an Xbox controller to my PC.

I still love my Wii U though, and I can play that laying in bed, so I one up your slumpiness! :)

That's good for more than just The Sims...

It might be, but I really do not care. I ordered this PC specifically to be able to run The Sims 3 plus all Expansion Packs perfectly so I don't have to think about upgrading parts ever again.

I'm not going to get interested in other series, because I do not want to drain any more money on PC gaming. When EA blew it with The Sims 4, I had the perfect opportunity to upgrade for TS3 and not ever have to worry about any of the nonsense of upgrading, and I took it.

Oh, trust me. It's gonna happen. Back in 2009 I was on the same page as you and... look where I am now.

I have a ok Asus laptop, it was fun to play pc when i did, since i couldn't play those specific mmo's on console.  :maud:

Gaming is mostly dead to me outside of racers, so pc gaming is dead to me in general until something actually interests me. It was still a pretty decent experience tho.  :maud:

It's not. I have a very limited amount of types of games that I am interested in to begin with (I am not into anything violent). Most of those types of games are perfectly covered by Nintendo.

If it was going to happen, it would have already happened.

The only other PC titles that I am interested in (Civilization and SimCity), I also got into a decade or so ago. And how lucky for me... The new Civilization looks completely uninteresting and EA blew it with SimCity, much like they did with The Sims 4.

Gaming is one of those areas that I really am no longer into trying anything new, because I already spend enough money on games as it is, and I do not think it's anywhere near the best way to be spending my money. I already blew way too much money on this PC just to be able to perfectly run a "low-end, outdated" game. PC gaming is NOT in my best interest. Do you have any idea how much of a money drain The Sims is to begin with? EA is soooo greedy with that series.

Hmm... well, whatever floats your boat then.

And EA being greedy? No way.
