Good or bad Sunset Shimmer?

I loved her character development, and how she was more of a person than when she was a villain.

I think Sunset Shimmer was a good villain in the first movie. The kind of villain you love to hate. But I really liked her in the second movie, that's the Sunset Shimmer I want to see more of

There was some definite character development post-reformation. She would have had more potential as a villain had they expanded on her background as Celestia's student and if they hadn't gone with the whole "take over the world" thing with her, instead have her motivated to take down Celestia and/or Twilight alone.

 

It's nice to see that she's still getting over her past demons (no pun intended) with the rest of Canterlot High and is actively working towards getting on good terms with the Mane 6 and the others, and she may turn out to be a great asset to not only the EqG universe Mane 6, but the narrative there as well, as she was in Rainbow Rocks.

Yup, she's a real cutie  . Anyway, I really love Sunny as a good girl rather than a bad girl, she received great focus and development in RR, while in EG barely received any. It was more: "she's the bad guy, stop her".

She even became a sixth ranger in the group of human girls  . Who knows how that will affect the show in the future

I'd have preferred if she'd kept a little more of her bad and manipulative side, but she's a character I wanted to see more out of and character development is gud. Going with the new Sunset Shimmer.

I just saw the movie again, and I'm now realizing how detrimental to the plot she was. Which was great. She did her very best to change and it payed off. I also think that dynamic makes her character really interesting. I'm very happy to see her redemption.

That's actually a pretty hard choice for me. She was an excellent villain, but I'd have to say I like her even more as a reformed character, similar to my feelings regarding Discord in Friendship is Magic. She has her flaws but she made a sincere and genuine effort to do good things, which was great to see.

It was wonderful to see her part in defeating the sirens. Goes to show how the elements of harmony are not limited to the mane six: anyone can embody harmony and love if they choose to.

Yeah, Sunny was a lame villain, but I blame the pacing of that movie for it, not because she couldn't be a good villain. Oh well, she was received with mixed results, but with the improved pacing of RR, she won our hearts big time, so, not bad for Sunny

Sunset Shimmer would have been a lot better if she was persuaded to stop by Twilight instead of magical force. Basically, Sunset is just lashing out because Celestia didn't think she was mature enough to handle the power and responsibility, while others got dragged into it. Rather than Celestia trying to get Sunset to steer away from grandiose thoughts.

Especialy since in Rainbow Rocks it showed

how decisions can have consequences (the hate and distrust from the other students) and so it is not always easy to turn over a new leaf. Thus her reformation is not easy and is more realistic.

I was gonna say the same thing, plus I enjoyed her more as a protagonist than a villain. I felt sorry for her in this, because everyone except the mane 5 hated her and still didn't trust her.
