The Worst Night Ever - I Watched Rainbow Rocks in Theatres (SPOILERS)

NOTE: This is meant to be tongue in cheek, it really wasn't all that bad.

Okay, I could have added this to the Rainbow Rocks thread, but this story is a bit more personal. I made the mistake of seeing Rainbow Rocks in theatres instead of just waiting until it was leaked on Youtube.

I saw the first Equestria Girls last year on Youtube, and thought it was okay (for a ripoff of Monster High designed to sell dolls of inferior quality to Monster High ;)).

Anyway, so the only theatre nearby that's actually playing RR is in this unfamiliar and really sketchy looking part of town I've never been to before (it actually turned out to be a renovated district next to a college).

Apparently, I obviously look lost when I'm walking through because a lady asks me if I need help and I say I'm looking for the movie theatre. She asks me what movie I'm going to see and not wanting to admit my crippling pony addiction, I say "I'm not really sure." (I did feel bad about lying).

So I end up at this little hole in the wall theatre that turns out to be one of those fancy independent/art house deals. The ticket only turned out to be $7 whereas many places its $10.

Yet another awkward moment occurs when the manager asks which movie I'm going to see. The register at this theatre is a digital display panel, and not wanting to say "Rainbow Rocks" I just say "this one" and touch the title screen.

"My Little Pony, then?" the manager says. I sheepishly nod.

I was secretly hoping there'd be at least a few other bronies in the theatre, but I had no such luck as it is mostly parents and small children. (Although there was one girl on the same row as me by herself who was a brony (pegasister?).

So I'm the token lone adult male in a theatre full of parents and children, feeling very awkward and sketchy.

I'm hoping that the movie itself will make me forget my embarrassment, it doesn't....

TO BE CONTINUED...

Well i whent to rainbow rocks and i was with bunches of bronies as in the whole theater was full of them and there was only like one or two little kids it was a very friendly enviroment and i only payed 4 dollars and i got a free round of laser tag at the arcade next door. Not to mention i absolutely loved the movie and walked out thinking i would have payed 3 times the amount of money to see it. Then i whent to a party afterwards for bronies. I thought the experiance was fanominal and i hope they come out with a third one next year. I still see it as MLP just in a view point of people rather than ponies. Its really much of the same concept with the messages and character personalities so i loved the first one and the second one but i can see why most wouldnt enjoy it

The theater I went to had several obviously organized meet ups along with a few smatterings a 2-3 Brony groups. In the end it was about a 50/50 Brony to Target mix. Outside of a few collective gasp and applause moments ... all the Bronies were well 'behaved'. A few times before the film started there was what I can only describe as 'A baseball game type wave - but with plushies'.

I took my two teen daughters, who by attire and paraphelia, definitely fit right in. Though I could tell that I was seen as a curiosity ... which amused me to know end

:D

That's good. It wasn't easy for me being the token male brony.

Im down Utah. Its something like cinimark studios down in west jordan near salt lake.

Sounds pretty cool. I do like laser tag. If only it weren't so expensive.

Yeah i loved it. The teams were all composed of bronies and there was red and green team so i named our team, green, team crysalis and i attempted to claim the title queen crysalis, even though im a boy haha, and they said that i couldn't have the title so i told them i would prove my power and earn rights to the title so we all agreed and i tripled the second placers score and put those ponies in their place for crysalis is all powerful and any who disagree should be put to shame hahaha. Itwas a great laser tag game!

I almost wanted to go to the theater and see it. But I don't have a car yet and I don't have the tin foil balls to ask for a ticket; albeit in hindsight I could've ordered online. Dang. I don't think I'm going to go see it, I'd mainly go to meet bronies irl.

Man, i'd feel the same way. Though, I have a couple brony friends, so I'd ask one of them to see it with me, and I wouldn't feel awkward going to an MLP movie.

I'll buy just about any sort of MLP merchandise in public, but it would take a lot to get me to go to Build-a-Bear and buy a pony plush.

Oh boy, you have no idea how embarrassing was to wait for the clerk to plush my plushy while I as the only 6 feet tall dude in the store. I averted my gaze to people around me

When I went to the Theater, I was wearing a Pinkie Pie shirt. So I came in and said "I'm here to see a movie" and the security was like "My Little Pony, right?" And I said "How'd you know?" And they said "Your shirt." And I was like "Heh." So I opened my ticket which was on my phone, they took it and scanned it, and then gave my phone back to me, they told me where the theater I need to go was and they said "Enjoy the movie" Oh you don't know how much I enjoyed it. But when I got out I told them that it was great and I enjoyed it, it never felt weird to me, or them. I mean. I never felt that embarrassment from that.

For me, the theater was good, the food was good, the movie was good.....

The sad part was that my friend and I were the only pegasisters in sight, there wasn't a single brony/pegasister there besides us. We were the first ones in the theater, and five minutes later, a stream of kids ages 5-8 walk in with their parents, and my friend and I thought we were doomed to watch the movie in a room filled with screaming children. Lucky for us, the kids were well behaved, and the whole experience was amazing.
