Anybody Want Sunset to Replace Twilight on the Front Lines?

After the last film, Rainbow Rocks...is starting to have Sunset Shimmer rise on his Waifu chart? To the point of wanting her to replace Twilight???

Twilight is a PRINCESS now! Does the really "belong" in a group of "lesser" ponies? Think of it this way, with Twilight as a Princess (IE royal leader) the remane5 are now "knights of the round pony table". Twilight has no real place in the field any more, she is ment to lead from afare, to protect the ideals of FRIENDSHIP, not enforce it.

 

Wouldnt Sunset Shimmer, fill the role of sub leader, and enforcer as say the new Element of Harmony "unity", in place of Twilight? I am not saying, put Twiley in the background, ala Luna or Sun-butt, but she really shouldnt be "fighting on the front line" anymore, you know?

 

I am sorry, but Sunset, had me squeeeing (manly style) through out the entire film..she is sooooooo, close to passing Rarity as best Pony (ok..not that close).

I feel somewhat the same way. I never liked Sunset Shimmer until after Rainbow Rocks, to the point of her almost beating Applejack as my favorite character. I enjoyed how Sunset was more of the main character than Twilight in Rainbow Rocks too, and I want to see more stuff like that.

 

So to answer your question more completely... yes and no. I'd like Twilight to stay as a main character in the standard MLP series, however, I do want Sunset Shimmer to replace Twilight in the Equestria Girls series. Now that Sunset Shimmer will start writing letters to Twilight ( As revealed at the end of RR ), it would only make sense.

The show doesn't need a new student-teacher dynamic, leave that in Equestria Girls land. Been there and done that. Instead an active and dynamic Princess of Friendship, which it appears we'll be seeing in S5, is far more interesting because her friends remain an important force.

At first I was about to say: "Lol what are you serious that's never gonna happen" but upon reading your whole post I see what you mean. This actually would be pretty cool. I can see Twilight having a lot of responsibility now and Sunset having to team up with the other 5 against villains. Plus she can wield the element of Magic too since Twilight is technically her successor so why not?

I want Sunset Shimmer to replace Twilight in EqG, they're actually very similar, i think that if Twilight hadn't learnt about the magic of friendship she would have ended like Sunset Shimmer in the first movie, and new Sunset Shimmer has the potential to be the element of magic, i'd really like her to be in one season 5 episode, but it wouldn't like her to replace Twilight in the actual series, Sunset is meant to keep the magic of friendship alive in the Canterlot High, not in Equestria. The humane 5 need her because like Twilight in Equestria, she keeps them united, when Twilight left Canterlot High they started to fight again, and it was Sunset Shimmer who made them stop.

Well, she is already set up to replace her in EqG, as she will most likely be the twilight sparkle, apprentice of friendship in Equestria Academy, the EqG spin off that comes out soon. Twilight has far to strong a group dynamic established in the pony world, and Hasbro would never remove her due to her massive toy sales. But with her going through a similar journey to s1 Twilight, it would appear that she will take her role in any further continuations of the EqG universe.

I'd be all for expanding the crew. Hell, even Spike got his own throne and Discord was a part of the group shot in the end and made amends to Celestia in the Season 4 finale. It'd be just as cool to add Sunset Shimmer to the Council of Friendship considering all she's had to overcome, and her status as a potential future student of Twilight Sparkle herself, continuing the "student becomes the teacher" motif carrying over from "Magical Mystery Cure" and the overarching theme of Season 4.

 

However, I have my doubts about this becoming a part of the main series as the Equestria Girls movies seem to be in a sort of loose canon with FiM. If anything, it might become a part of the upcoming "Equestria Academy" project if rumors prove to be true. (Personally, I think the Equestria Girls story would be better suited to a short form like a series, considering I took a bit of issue with pacing and characterization throughout the first act especially in Rainbow Rocks.) It would be great to have it either way, and I wouldn't count it out.

This would be perfect for that Equestrian Academy spin off. I think Sunset would be the "Twilight Sparkle" of that world. I would love to see a spinoff series of EQG. Sunset could send reports to Princess Twilight in her journal, just like how Twilight did with Celestia.

Well, this is a difficult topic for me. Particularly being a fan of Twilly.

 

What I say is this could be potentially G5 material. It would be good then. But I'm not ready for Twilly to fade.

I'd be totally cool with this. Let Sunset have adventures as a student, and Twi have adventures as a rising princess.

HELZ YEAH! Sunset would be a great replacement, cuz she's such a relate-able character and she's already on HER way to becoming a princess as well. Plus, she's be great for helping out in combat, given the fact that she has already been a villain and would give the mane 5 an advantage over their enemies through her. And Hasbro would have many new lessons to give through Sunset that would help those who feel unaccepted as well. In fact, that's like the entire community against the world. Shimmer is like the intense shout out to all the Bronies, and they should really use and develop this character in the future.

While I do feel you might be pushing it a bit, you have a point... Never thought of it like that.

I agree. Have Sunset be the main character in EG but NEVER replace Twilight in mlpfim! I think the writers wanted to have Sunset replace Twilight in EG a bit anyway. Sunset knew Canerlot High better and also had just enough pony know how to fix things. Twilight felt to pressured and could not focus, to the point where she did not see the flighting yet luckily still contributed to the movie.

I thought the same thing about the journal as soon as I saw the end of RR. Such an awesome idea!
