Did anyone else hate the literal 'Plot Device' in Rainbow Rocks? (Spoilers)

I watched Rainbow Rocks last night and I actually enjoyed it quite a bit, way more than the first one yet I enjoyed the first one too. Almost everything was improved and that alone made it better to watch. However, there was one huge thing that bugs me. When the characters said that they needed Twilight there, I was thinking 'You mean that world's Twilight or something right? Equestria Twioight cannot come here can she...?' I was actually hoping that the a Twilight for that world would take the stage, the original poster thing hinted at that but I know it would be difficult given the plot.

Then, they started to pull things out of the air to make sure that Equestria Twilight can go over there, with that book connection. Fine, whatever, that was weird but tolerable. What really bothered me was the device that Twilight built to get into that world at any time. It was a literal plot device that came out of nowhere and purely exists to both guarantee sequels and to make sure she could go back there at any time. This honestly was the worst part of the entire film for me, and actually one of the dumbest things I have seen from this show overall.

Did anyone else find this literal 'Plot device' to be kinda stupid? I still enjoyed the film overall but that part still bugs me.

Yeah, I thought it was just a cheap way to allow for more sequels. Honestly, since they brought back Twilight from Equestria back into the EG world, they should have had the rest of the ponies from Equestria jump through the portal at some point, maybe at the end? Imagine the villains were about to overpower the EG Mane 6, when suddenly, through the portal comes another set of the "same people". This would be pretty chaotic, and would give the "Enter at Anytime" portal more use other than a cheap sequel-creator.

Of course it was a pretty crazy plot device, but they needed one, and I'm sure many of us saw this coming from half the world away. It's hard to read the plot summary without thinking of the possibility that they were going to use a plot device to force Twilight back into the human world.

I don't know, I think that the writers did it mainly for EQG 3 (it's rumored to come out in 2016ish) so that it would make sense for when Twilight goes to the human world AGAIN. I think that the writers are planning on having both Equestria!Twilight and Human!Twilight in EQG 3 (if that's really a thing), because they showed Equestria!Twilight finding a way to keep the portal open at the beginning of the movie, while at the end of the movie, they showed Human!Twilight recording strange activity at Canterlot High.

I have noticed many saying that the next EG movie is planned for a 2016 release. Is that accurate at all?

I think the way the next one will work is that the Twilight in that world will be like how Twilight was in the start of FiM and perhaps it will be the regular Twilight or Sunset Shimmer that teaches her the way of friendship, like the original series premier. Still bothers me that they had to use a plot device like what I mentioned just to get to that point. I thought they were going to introduce that Twilight in this movie but instead they kinda shoehorned the other one in there instead. It still worked and I liked the movie and the moral too, but it stings a little.

I am actually happy to hear the supposed 2016 date for the next movie or mini-series which I have also heard of. For some reason, I like the fact that we may not see another thing for this for a little while.

It's not just a bad plot device, but also Twilight telling the other Mane 5 they can't go with her because of the chance of misidentification.

We are all expecting Twilight is going to hypocrite this one in the next movie, people.

That's not what "literal" means. If it was literal that would mean it would literally be a plot device. That would mean they would use this device to literally alter the plot KNOWING they're altering the plot, thus breaking the 4th wall or something.

It is a device but it isn't a plot device from their perspective.

I am not talking about their world, I am talking about the writers and what they are doing. Here, they made Twilight build a device with the one purpose of making the plot advance forward and make it so Twilight can go to that world at any time even when it makes no sense at all. No, it isn't a literal plot device in their world, but it is in ours, in the world where this stuff was written.

I was fine with it, and this is coming from a guy that needs in depth head canon for everything. They got the point across as to what it does and made the explanation entertaining and thats all that really matters.

I hate NOTHING about this film. (fanboy)

Every film needs a "plot device", thankfully with MLP to get that plot, all we need is one of the girls to face her flank at the camera...eh..eh?!?! Daaaaaaaw! :drum roll:
