Its Sonata time!

So with RR going to DVD in a few days, and being a huge Fanfiction reader that I am, i can not help but notice the massive suppourt for this Villianess.

I would ask, why, but I think I know why. Lets look at the air-head, would be valley girl for a sec for a deeper digging into what is making hundreds of Bronies wish they had a Taco-tuesday in there lives.

Personal opinion, I think we all know, or knew, someone exactly like her. The follower, the tag along, the kick stand and the breezy type. Some might say she isnt a "bad girl" villian like say shimmey was, or Aria is. Some might say shes just stuck in the wrong place at the wrong time, attracted too her blank eyed view on whats really going on around her.

I can't give her that easy scape goat. And I LOVE Sonata. Next to Gilda she is my fav "villian" of MLP. That being said, the girls evil, period. She is just a differnt kind of evil, then her two Sisters. She is a Naive evil, she is doing it because its fun, because she IS that follower. All you need to confirm this (again in my opinion) is the scene with the three of them circeling Shimmey, and her line and facial expression of "Too bad...So sad!". With those words in that tone and her posture at the time, shes almost like a snake cornering a mouse.

I love her, I read every fic about her I can find, and if i had ANY skill in rational thought and the ability to write, i would ship her and an EQ Gilda (BTW!! WTF why is there no Gilda = School bully character!! You freaking put the Diamond dogs in the damn film...COME ON!).

I think another reason why some people prefer to view Sonata as a protagonist is she's kind of like Pinkie Pie. They're air-headed characters who usually tend to tag along with the main lead. Since these sort of characters have a reputation of being the good guy as well as the fact that we've seen a lot of Pinkie, some people want to see Sonata turn against the other Dazzlings.

I personally always saw her as a villain, despite her ditzy personality. I'm not against anyone who prefer to think of her as a protagonist, but it's a little jarring for me to see fan works of her betraying the Dazzlings.

I'd kind of have to agree. I don't think she's evil, in the sense of intent malevolence, but rather out of being naive and ignorant.

She just seems like she's on Aria and Adagio's side just because they're who she's most familiar with.

Yeah, this right here.

That's not to say she's not evil at least a little bit. I'm sure she is, but in the same sense as Silver Spoon being mean.

While i posted this post to begin with, i hate to bump it, but i have to say this.

"Air headed" or "Follower" or even "Mindless drone" doesnt = free pass on the level of evil. Evil is a mindset, it can be "I WILL OWN THE WORLD" or all the way down to "...I really don't want to dissapoint :insert character here:...i will do anything to please :insert character here:".

You can rank Sonata, wherever you will in this chart, but the reality is, she IS, evil! And you know what?!? THATS OK!!

Evil doesnt mean, you can not like that character. I LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE Zira, from Lion King 2, and she is beyond evil/misunderstood/mother in agony missing her mate.

Sonata Dusk IS a follower, she IS a corrupted soul, she IS born to do bad, based on what her persona is, A FUCKING SIREN. A siren= i will allure you to me, to suckle upoun your very LIFE BLOOD/ OR SOUL, because she is cute, she has solid one-liners, doesnt make her any less EVIL.

That all being said, she is just as evil as Rarity, or Applejack, or even Fluttershy, she is filling her role..and for that, i have SOOOOOO orderd a shirt and sticker (wish there was a poster of her) from Redbubble.com, Sonata is the best Villianess (depth wise) since Gilda....GIVE ME GILDA BACK YOU FUCKERS AT DHX!

Evil, to me, by its very definition is something or someone who has traits or ambitions viewed as contradictory (and, in most cases, dangerously so) to the moral belief of common society. And thus, I believe it goes beyond the malevolence typically associated with the term.

With that said, I repeat myself when I say I believe Sonata is evil. However, unlike the other two, she, herself, doesn't seem malevolent, despite her (/Dazzlings') intentions. But rather just a naive follower, just doing it because she thinks it's right, and because it's simply in her nature (what with being a siren and all; also, she's stuck with Aria and Adagio for 1000+ years. Do we really expect her to believe differently than them, or turn against them? Especially considering her childish personality). In that sense, I agree with you: She is evil.

But I still like Sonata (Admittedly, I was a bit disappointed when I learned she was going to be a ditzy character, and the dumb one of the Dazzlings).

Who or what is Sonata, never heard of her?

In case not b8:

She's one of the 3 Dazzlings ( the villains ) in Equestria Girls: Rainbow Rocks. If you saw the trailer for RR, it's this girl:

This isn't exactly relevant to the topic, however I do want to mention that I feel the animators really did outdo themselves with the Dazzlings' collective unique facial expressions.
