Equestria is based off North America

I just found out that the region of Equestria kind of resembles the layout of North America, mostly the US, southern Canada, and Mexico. A lot of areas remind me of North American locations but with a few exceptions Ponyville is like a rural town in the Great Plains in the center of the US. Others include Manehattan is New York City, Las Pegasus is based on Las Vegas but is also based on Hollywood, Vanhoover is Vancouver, Neighagra Falls is Niagara Falls, Filly Delphia and Baltimare are based on Philadelphia and Baltimore, Apple Loosa is like an old style Texas town and south of it is an area similar to Aztecs we've seen in Daring Don't. There are some exceptions such as Cloudsdale which isn't really based on any place, Canterlot which is based on a very rich, wealthy city, and the Crystal Empire is based off Paris.

I just thought it was interesting to point out.

Well with cities and towns with names like "Manehatten", "Fillydelphia"(Represent!), and "Appleloosa". Yeah, I'd say that's pretty accurate. However, Equestria still feels like a whole other world, aside from the sentient equines. It's run by two immortal di-archs, technology advances differently than in our world, and of course there's various other races of varying intelligence that live within it.

Not to mention that other parts of it seem to be modeled after non-North American cultures. Canterlot obviously draws it's name and some inspiration from the British "Camelot". But was, in truth, modeled after Minas Tirith. Even then, the armor of the Royal Guard owes much to the Legion of Rome while the Canterlot citizenry seem to be heavily Victorian influenced.

The civilization that Ahuizotl made his home in draws inspiration from South American cultures, particularly the Aztecs. What with their architecture, and reverence to the sun. In the same episode, Dr. Caballeron speaks in a faux French accent.

So, in some respects, Equestria could almost be said to be a melting pot not just for Earth cultures, but even Earth time periods and mythology!

What is Canterlot most likely? Montreal? Detroit? Portland? What do you think?

I think its based off the home of King Arthur and the Knights of the Roundtable, Camelot. (Haha, I almost forgot how to spell it, I am so used to writing Canterlot instead!)

The city names are like North America and a lot of the scenery too, ie: Auizotl's temple, and Appleoosa but honestly I think thats about where the similarities stop. Ponyville looks like a colorful medieval/Renaissance town, and Canterlot is Camelot and a city-castle mounted impossibly (but awesomely ) onto the side of a mountain. Plus the culture is totally different imo.
