Maybe a scout character from some world with a bad way of life for Sunset to teach friendship which it takes back to its world. Or maybe a new non-Equestrian villain that would require some new concept to defeat it?

I think it would be very interesting. I don't have a strong view on EG either way ("It was okay." - IGN) so it would be interesting to see a plot twist of this nature.
