Where does Sunset Shimmer live?

This is a question that's been driving me nuts since the first movie. When Sunset Shimmer first arrives at Canterlot High, presumably she is homeless, has no money, is a minor, and has no connections in this new world. Somehow though she seems to be doing just fine. She doesn't seem worried about where her next meal comes from, she can afford cool leather jackets, and can become the most popular girl in school.

 

I've joked about how Sunset Shimmer must have murdered that world's Sunset Shimmer and taken her place. Well now not even that theory  works anymore.

 

We have a preview of the upcoming holiday special comic

 

 

And apparently Sunny has not had anyone to celebrate the holidays with since leaving Equestria. So it would seem that she must not have found a way to have a home and a family in that world, or else it's a really cruddy family. The implication though would seem to be that there simply was no one for her to celebrate the holidays with at all,

 

So Sunset Shimmer is an anomaly and this preview just raises even more questions. My head hurts now.

I'm so getting that comic. I'm a sucker for those sorts of holiday happifests. 

 

I always had it in my head that she pulled a Twilight upon arriving in the human word, and maybe slept hidden in the school. Maybe she still does or was doing that during the events of the first film. Makes Twilight's library sleepover a bit more interesting if Sunset was in the basement at the time sleeping herself. 

 

Damn. Now I'm all depressed. I need this comic.

There was a comic (fan made) with Twilight sleeping on the book pile in the top and Sunset Shimmer sleeeping under a banner on a gym mat.

The writers haven't revealed it yet, but she lives in her house.

For one thing, you need to know that the comics aren't necessarily canon and should be taken with a grain of salt.

 

And for another, it's quite clear Hasbro isn't concerned with family details like this (like how we STILL don't know what's the deal with Scootaloo's family).

 

It IS an interesting question, but I doubt we'll get an answer anytime soon...

 

PS, she probably got that jacket automatically when she got her clothes like Twilight did.

Well obviously she lives in a house in the city where Canterlot High is. My guess is she's lived in the human version of Equestria for quite a while now. It wouldn't be hard to imagine her being adopted into a family, as someone else said most likely rather rich. They don't say because as Jangobadass said, Hasbro isn't too concerned with details like that.

She may well have taken some assets from Equestria to the human world when she first moved there. (Jewels such as diamonds seem far more common in Equestria than here for example.) So she could have a reasonable amount of money, and afford to rent (or possibly buy) somewhere.

I would suspect that Sunset Shimmer had problems finding a place to live. Although, we don't know how she managed to do so. I would believe that she must have a stable place since she wouldn't be popular otherwise.

dunno. But it would've been nice if Sunny offered Twi her house, instead of Pinkie

 

since she knows how to play guitar in the second movie, and we saw how manipulative she was in the first movie, going for the popular guys (like...ew....Brad), I can see her coming across some band that might've been touring in...whatever town or city EQG takes place in, after she came to the human world, and getting cozy with one of the band members, picking up learning how to play the guitar, maybe getting that cool leather jacket from them, and then being asked to housesit from one of the guys, while they continued on tour, and just making their home, hers, so long as she continued living in EQG? -shrug-

Either that or just like how it took 4 seasons to now that Scootaloo isn't homeless and how over 100 episodes in we still don't know any of her family members, the writers don't think it is something they need to show.
