movies/tv Why doesn't Nick report any 9-14 ratings anymore?

Unlike most kids networks, which continue to keep kids as they grow into early adolecents, Nickelodeon these days seems to shut off any appeal to those 12 and older, this is most apparent in their ratings reports. Back when they had TEENick, Nick would've bragged about its tween ratings all the time. Now, they seem to care less about middle schoolers. Look at most of Nicks recent ratings reports, all of them only report 2-11, or 6-11. This proves my theory about Nick wanting the 12+ crowd off the network for good. I get that Nick is a kids network, but there's a difference between targeting kids, and pandering to them.

It's probably because they keep trying desperately too hard to pander to kids to the point where they only think kids will watch their network. It's like they think only that demographic will like it, leading to some implication that they think kids are stupid. You can tell that they do'n't care about any audience older seeing as how on their official Facebook page, they delete any comment criticizing them. I think they don't care about the criticism they get. As long as they continuously have people watching their crap, they will be happy. Or they just shrug it off with the "It's for kids" mentality thinking that's an instant shield from criticism. That's like saying, "This is supposed to be bad so you're bad for wanting it to be good."

This was kind of the same thing Cartoon Network tried doing to Toonami. Toonami's core audience was preteen viewers 12+. By 2004, CN became desprate for 6-11 ratings and thus, banished Toonami to saturday nights.

Probably because nowadays they have a separate network for that, TeenNick(formally known as The N).

From what I understand, TeenNick is directed more towards the 14+ audience. Well, at least its SUPPOSSED to be (outside Degrassi and 90's are all that).

There's really nothing stopping them from attracting that audience either since more often than not they'll have some of their shows that would appeal to that demo like their tween sitcoms

And of course there's also Nicktoons which is basically the Nick version of Disney XD. Right now, aside from bring the network where cartoons that don't get astronomical ratings go to die, they seem to put a lot of emphasis on action cartoons, and for some reason they plan on burning off the rest of Korra there

Well, I can't say anything that hasn't already been said. Nickelodeon has suffered from mismanagement and corporate apathy for so long now. I have no idea how in the hell these executives keep their jobs, but I know Nick will never die because of the stranglehold they have on the market along with Disney and CN. It sucks, but unfortunately that's the reality unless someone within the company can stop kissing ass and start standing up and dealing with the problems. >_>

I'm pretty sure Nicktoons was geared towards a slightly younger audience of 6-11, while Disney XD is more 6-14.

Reading all of this "9-14" demographic stuff makes me wish Nick would've aired an Uncut DBZ Kai in some way or at least the original version. Too bad they lost the rights since I think it would've helped

Because all their shows are crap and cater to young boys, and not to mention, shows that used to be good before they went to shit, i.e. Spongebob and Fairly Oddparents.
