Which brand of headphones or earphones do you prefer?

I've tried both.

So personally I pefer Audio Technica.

You get a much better sound quality.

It sounds clearer and a little less muffled.

Plus they're very durable.

So which brand do you prefer and why?

Anything > Beats

Mind you, my current headset is a pair of Monster: Inspiration, and Monster is a brand that broke from the Beats brand(stated to want to focus less on celebrity highlights, and more on the actual sound quality). So far, they've been amazing(owned for just over a year).

Haven't tried Audio Technica, but I'm still awaiting a dream pair of BOSE.

Audio Technica and it's not even close!

I got the ATH-M50s a few years back and they are truly amazing! Beats don't sound nearly as good. They just look cool and that's about it. And considering the ATH-M50s can be purchased for much less, I would 100% reccommend those if you're looking for good headphones

Audio Technica is for sure superior in a lot of ways. From what I've gathered from some of my friends, their Beats headphones break easily, leading some of them to own up to more than 5 pairs. Personally, Audio Technica headphones are more reliable and you can get them for less.

I've been thinking about getting a pair of Bose headphones, anyone know if those are good?

If you're looking for noise-cancelling headphones, Bose are the best in the business. Otherwise, you can do better for the money.

I don't think I necessarily need noise-cancelling headphones, I'm more concerned about the sound quality. What brands would you recommend?

I own a couple pairs, some of my thoughts on them:

Audio-Technica MTH-M50 - These are really nicely built, punchy bass on the low end without being overwhelming. They might be a bit bright for some people but I liked them. Closed-back so the soundstage isn't quite as wide as an open pair but still good overall and great if you don't want sound leakage. A little tight around my head but I have a pretty big head so, there you go. :P

Sennheiser HD 598 - My current pair. Durable and well-built, but still very lightweight and probably the most comfortable headphones I've worn. Very neutral and balanced, great for all kinds of music. These were actually a Gold Box deal on Amazon last night for $99. At that price, they sold out EXTREMELY quickly but even around their normal price (~$180), it's hard to beat.

Grado SR80 - Really bright, great for acoustic music. My main issue with them is that they aren't really very comfortable for extended periods. Also open, so sound leakage.

As far as brands go, Sennheiser, Audio-Technica, AKG, Beyerdynamic, and Shure to name a few all make excellent headphones. Unlike some other more... marketing-centric brands out there, these companies specialize in audio equipment. If you're able to find a local shop that sells headphones (maybe a guitar shop or something like that) it's well worth your time to stop by and listen to a few of these to see which sounds best to you, and more importantly is most comfortable for you to wear.

If you're gonna be spending that much, might as well get something that works best for you. :)

Audio Technica everyday. I plan on getting a pair of MTH-m50x's at some point. Same as the MTH-m50s, only difference is the "X' version has a removable audio cable.Either that, or a pair of AKGs

Shure, Bayer Dynamics and Plantronics are all very good brands.

I own a set of Bluetooth Plantronics BackBeat Gos, and they are great...good sound quality and they stay in my ears.I don't even notice I'm wearing them.

An of the above are a great choice. Some of them are at the same price point as Beats as well, with MUCH better sound quality and range.

I have a cheap set of $30 Trittan AX120's, they're a gaming headset and the sound quality of them is about the same, if not better, than that of Beats. Both of which have 40mm drivers in them.

Hell, I got a pair of 1970's "Realistic NovaPro" headphones, with a coiled cable and a 1/4'' jack, that I use on my PC, and even they sound on par with Beats headphones.

Beats are all about marketing and promoting their product. They're a fashion accessory.

(Sorry, I rather despise Beats stuff.)
