Spiritualism, Wicca, and Pagans

I know I have spoken allot about my knowledge of spiritualism briefly but I've been notably vague on the topic. I am more then happy to explain myself but do keep in mind that I want this to be an open minded topic. Any hate or flaming will result in being reported. Now let me explain what I know and if you have questions, ask away after reading my explanation. Any fellow spiritualists, wiccans, witches, or pegans are also welcome to bring their input in.

Now there are those who believe in ghost that are considered spiritualist and explore the unknowns of the spirit world. But there is a level beyond that which revolves around the religions of Wicca and Pagans. Those born with a gift to detect emotions on a deep level even without being in that persons presence is the first sign of having powers beyond the moral one given to us through our lifeforce. Those of us who are gifted have a slightly enhanced lifeforce and can channel that energy along with surrounding energy forces to fuel our gifts. With wiccans like myself, we abide by the wicca pentagram which is a star with five points wrapped by a circle. Each point represent one of the many powers possible for a wiccan to have. Those powers are: Water, Fire, Earth, Wind, and Spirit.

post-28764-0-95125700-1417539557.png

This is a traditional wicca pentagram and the common misconception is that it is the evil pentagram used for satanic rituals. This is far from true. This is merely a symbol that represent our powers. Those of us lucky enough to have a major element or two, will sometime have a lesser extent of the others. Those of us that harness all 5 elements can reach a super charged state known as Spirit Form. Spirit Form is a enhanced version of powers we already have and is accessible to those who mediate and practice their powers every day, keeping a peaceful state of mind.

Spirit: This is the top most point of the star and is most relevant to most wiccans. This will give you a enhanced understanding of the spirit world and you'll have higher chance of earning white magic power.

Fire: A cleansing, burning element. Fire is an element commonly found by those kinds of wiccans who have a more confrontational, but protective nature. Their power cleanses evil from the body much like white magic.

Water: The flowing, peaceful element. This gift is give to those who go with that flow and have a relaxed approached to life, but if angered has the capability of consuming and over taking foes. Ice is a sub element that can form as a offshoot of water.

Earth: This element is a more commonly known element similar to Spirit. Those with the gift of earth magic have a improved understanding of herbs and wild life. Plants and animals are your best friends and you have natural healing capabilities similar to one with white magic but in a more organic sense to heal inside the body as well as outside.

Wind: This element is a flowing element which supports Fire and Water. Wind helps purify the air of dark winds. This is a reflective force to remove and repel darkness. A very powerful element for protection, much like white magic.

Then there are the pagans, which are much like wiccans in some circles. There is a lot of crap thrown on them for their beliefs though they are no less important than wiccans. Their studeies can go into the darker reaches but that isn't all bad, at least not as bad as most religions would make you believe. I know a few a pagans that are pretty cool.

There is a lot to understand from both spectrums, and not all we know is all that there is to know. This is why the spirit world is interesting. We learn things everyday and grow stronger from it.

In anycase, if you have any questions, ask away.

What on earth is a Pegan?

*pagan

Pagans are like wiccans in the sense of power but they study in the darker arts. Those who use such powers can sometimes be referred to as witches but that is touchy to explain. I'm sure you know about or have heard of satanic rituals. Paganisum has relation to such rituals if one who delves that far in to dark magic does such such acts.

I was referring to the incorrect spelling of the name. :P It's not "pegan", it's "pagan".

I have a close friend who's a Pagan, though i've never really delved too much into it with him bar the odd discussion, I tend to be quite secular when it comes to matters of belief. But Spirituality is always something I've found fascinating to read on philosophically, and to how its practiced in society.

Are pagans and wiccans pretty much under the same banner? I've heard terms like Wiccan Paganism being used and my friend refers to himself as a Pagan Polytheist. I assume its all more or less in the same area.

Ironically, I am quite curious about Wiccan. I have recently acquired a few book about it and hope to study it when I have the time to read (in school now, no time for time)...

I will point out why; I am a Bible Theologian, and something that I noticed early on in my studies are 2 two things.

One- There is some Truth in every religion/beliefs

Two- Ignorance of other religions/beliefs equates to ignorance of one's own personal beliefs due to the limited amount of knowledge of said ignorance...

Even though it is for my own personal studies to widen my worldview and theological grounding, I am curious to learn more. Not only that, but my younger sister has turned to paganism, and although I understand why, it's just one less thing I can relate with her on.

Yes, Wiccans and Pagans are in the same basic category when it comes to sensing and having special gifts. The differences lay in what type of magic is studied. Pagans are more commonly known for studying darker arts but the good kinds do know some white magic as a counter balance to be sure they are not consumed by the darker side.

I am glad to hear you be so open minded about it. Wicca and Paganisum are more spiritual religions and revolve around the study of magic and the spirit world. You are always welcome to continue any pre-existing religions while being either a wiccan or pagan as it doesn't forcefully abscond you from Christianity, Catholicism, Celtic, or any other known religions commonly practiced. The few catches with Wicca and Paganisum is that: Firstly, you must have some pre-existing history in your family of such practices thus being born with such gifts. Secondly, these two kind of religions open you up much more to the spirit world then most other religions would. As a Wiccan I can tell you that it can be fun but also dangerous because if you do have a gift, you will be more likely able to detect negativity and come into interaction with demons. When it comes to demons, wiccans use powerful symbols like dragons, foxes, or what ever my relate to their spirit animal to ward off negativity. Sage is a common herb also used in unison with salt to keep out and seal away negative or otherwise very bad forces.

It's hard to know with my personal family history, since my father is deceased, and my mother's whereabouts have been unknown for 13 years. I don't know my family history, but I do know that I feel a great deal of closeness with nature and highly respect it.

I am able to befriend animals fairly quickly, even ones that are knowingly unfriendly to strangers. I spent a great deal of my childhood summers camping solely on my own. It's a long story as to why, but it was a sanctuary from my abuse and neglect.

For the past 7 years, I have used rocks to help with emotions, clairvoyance of mind, and calming of my self. In my mind, they are tools to help maintain homoeostasis of the body and mind. I am not sure how far connected that is with Wiccan/Paganism, but I've been told that it has to do with Wiccan/Paganism.

Something that has intrigued me since learning about Hinduism and Buddhism is the concept of Chakra's and Auras. These concepts are not denied nor confirmed in Christian theology, and in fact, these are actually hinted at in the Christian Bible.

You are a Nature Wiccan, which means that you would closely relate to Earth Magic. Rocks and many forms of basic life will bring you wisdom and peace. You innate ability to befriend animals comes naturally with your power and makes you a child of mother nature herself. Mediation among the natural life that surrounds you maybe the best method to help seek your answers. I highly encourage using stones as your guardians in a current living space of your's due to your strong meditative connection with them. That will aid in putting up a spiritual barrier to repel negative forces inside you, along with those that may try to attach to you. Due to your ability to be one with nature, sage and other healing herbs will have extra power for repelling dark or demonic spirits.

The practice of certain religions take from wiccanisum/paganisum as much as they do from other religions. This is part of the reason why practicing wiccanisum will not interfere with other religious practices. In some cases they will go hand in hand.

This thread should be locked. Being a Pagan doesn't mean you practice "darker magic" and it doesn't neccassarily have to be connected with magic, unless one wants to look more into Pagan rooted magic.

To say that Paganism is divided between "good Pagans, and bad Pagans" is like saying that Hinduism is polytheistic. It's just not true.

Pagan is an umbrella term for early European based beliefs, ranging from Greek to Norse, so there is no "good" and "bad" side. While there are Pagans who give the public a bad image of Paganism, such as the Troth and other such racist groups, there is no defined allegience in Paganism.

I understand your concern and I thank you for the correction. I am not honestly trying to bash pagans, this is merely a talk about the difference and to see what people may know more of than even me. Who knows, I may just learn something from them. Even with my knowledge, I don't know everything. I'll keep what you said in mind and apologies if I offended you any way.

I see...so you were just misinformed? Well, sorry then...my apologies. I just really hate it when people give false information about Paganism, especially when it's harmful information that could make Paganism seem like something it's not.

Being a Pagan myself, a Norse Pagan to be exact, I have pride in my faith. So forgive me if anything I said offended to, in turn. If you have any questions or concerns about anythibg unknown to you in Paganism, I would be happy to tell you what I know.

I had no intention of harming the good name of Paganisum. I guess I was in some way misinformed and I am aware that Paganisum as a whole isn't all bad but I've just heard about some of the bad things that can happen with that kind of thing. Wiccanisum is kind of more my territory obviously but I'm a always glad to learn more about either. It's as I said in the beginning, I am welcoming any input given and I do want to keep this topic on a open minded bases. Again, I do apologize if my information was a bit off or sounded a bit closed minded. That wasn't my intention.

I'm pagan! (much the the chagrin of my Christian parents)

I'm an ecclectic pagan. I need to get back into my studies. I keep putting it off, and I really shouldn't.

It good you know what you are. There are some that don't know or are brainwashed to think that what they are is bad. I want to tell you that what you are is something to be celebrated no matter what. If you ever wish to share any of your knowledge on here, I'd be happy to see imput. I am made this thread to talk about these kind things.

Though... I really should fix the pagan part of my first post... yeah.

I am Pagan as well. Mostly eclectic(A combination of Hellenism, Celticism and Shamanism).

I find it odd that Wicca is the focus here and it is interesting. But its worth pointing out that of all the branches of Paganism, Wicca is the most recent, having first come up in the 1950s. The oldest branch is most likely Shamanism, as many indigenous tribes, including many Native Americans such as the Lakota, practiced it.

As far as the gods go, and I think this is worth mentioning, I don't believe in the gods any less then I believe in the sun and the moon, they are in everything in the natural world, as close as one's own breath. It is different from the Abrahamic faiths.

I think Paganism is a good path if you are a nature-lover, vegan and the like, seeing as its always been, at the core, the honoring of our mother, Earth herself.

I think this brings to mind the words of three chaps:

“Man’s heart away from nature becomes hard.” – Standing Bear

“The earth does not belong to us. We belong to the earth.” – Chief Sealth

“The goal of life is living in agreement with nature.” – Zeno

Yeah, sorry if it feels a bit wiccan dominate. I am always happy to allow pagan discussion though. I do not wish to limit what is talked about here so, if you want to mentions things about pagans here, feel free to do so. I just was expressing my knowledge with wiccans and, unfortunately enough, the little I know of pagans. Oh well, it's not like I would like to know everything but it's nice to see others thoughts and opinions on this.

Can you prove that your belief system is factual and not just a mental conjuration of ideas? I mean, I don't see you guys actually doing what most people would call magic, and I doubt that half of what you say as Pagans can actually be shown to be true. I'm not bashing up you guys, just wonderin' how you can believe this, and why you believe something that to me is good ideals (being in nature) but has erronous practical applications (burning sage).

Firstly, we cannot just show our gifts willy nilly. Even if we could, it would require sense and feeling over the unreliable eyes. The gifts we have cannot be seen a physical plain. Not under normal circumstances. Our abilities are much like a spirit that walks our plain of existence through the invisible veil of the spirit world.

Secondly, the experiences should be trusted over mere speculation and ideals. For those who have a gifts, we feel it in us and around us. It's always ever present through us. For those on the outside looking in, the ability to feel what we are will prove what we have and have not in our being.

Thirdly, the power we posses can still do many things from healing, to causing pain. Though it also depends on how powerful our will and understanding of the arts really are. As the understanding of one's energy and life force commands the abilities we have. For the power of our gifts are our life force. Us gifted will have life forces that grow stronger or weaker from certain circumstances. We get tired easily after a major use of our gift because we are using our life force to form this energy. What we have is honestly a curse more than it is a gift sometimes.

Correct me if i am wrong.

But a Wicca is someone who deals with spells and magic.

And a pagan worships idols. Like "Thor, Zeus, Astarte".

Have talked to some Wicca, different but nice people i feel.

Well you are not wrong. Wiccans do deal in spells and magic but on a certain level. Very few can truly master such skills. Most masters that do exist are few and far between, but are very wise. The thing is wiccans and pagans may have differences from typical people, but we walk around as typical people. We are no different as mortals, we just have gifts that make us different in spirit.

I wouldn't know with pagans though. I would assume you are right but I wouldn't trust my word on that. My knowledge lays more towards wiccans.

1. Wicca concentrates on ones connection to nature, not simply belief in magic.

2. Please don't call pagan gods and goddesses "idols", its offensive.

Odd that I did not notice this thread before now. My wife practices and while she would consider herself eclectic, she had been initiated in a Dianic coven before studying a few solitary disciplines.

All squares are rectangles, but all rectangles are not squares.

It's always been my understanding that all Wiccans are pagans, but not all pagans are Wiccans.

A pagan is a person who is polytheistic, and believes in many gods. A pagan can also be a person who just simply worship/revere nature. Before Christianity came to be, the majority of us were pagan. We worshipped Greek, Roman, Egyptian, Celtic, and Norse gods, and so on. Not all pagans participate or believe in magic, and there isn't anything dark about them.

A Wiccan is a person who believes in and practices witchcraft, or magick, and was introduced in the 50's or 60's. Because the Christian Bible has caused many Christians to believe witchcraft is evil, you will very rarely find a Christian who is Wiccan. It's for this reason that Wiccans do not associate with Christianity. Paganism doesn't look down on witchcraft and ritual, so this is why many Wiccans are pagan.

I identify as an Eclectic Wiccan, and also a pagan. I don't think of the gods as literal beings, but mere representations of the aspects of this world. I could technically be an atheist in that respect. I do worship nature, however, and I believe in reincarnation. I do practice witchcraft/magick, and I do observe the quarters and cross-quarters of the year. It's my belief that we all have powers regardless of what religion we are. It's just up to us to study and develop them further. Many Christians will not do that because they are told that it's wrong. It's the Wiccans and pagans who accept their abilities/ the existance of these abilities, so that's why all this paranormal stuff gets associated with them.
