So I just realeised something. Anita Sarkeesian got 158 thusand dollars to make like 10 or so shitty videos, while our charity foundraiser is getting to 3 thusand maybe. What the hell is wrong with this world?

The thing is, she didnt even need the money, her videos are missleading as hell and she has 0 smart to say. Yet, with that money, a school could have been built in Africa or something like that.

Not every cause is equal in the eyes of all. If this makes you mad you'd be really pissed to find out that there are people who spend large amounts of money on frivolous pursuits like video games and cable (where MLP is watched, by the way) when there's starving kids to be fed and homeless people to house.

Well, I guess you are right, about the pony merchindise. Still, the amount of money people are prepared to give to shady kickstarters vs the amount they give for charity is dissapointing, If not worrying.

That's just how Kickstarter works though. You donate money while taking it on faith that the final product won't suck. Apparently enough people thought Sarkeesian was worth the risk.

 

For all we know this charity we're donating to might horribly mismanage the money we're giving them. We're acting on faith here.

@@Andaasonsan, I am 100% shure that at least part of the money will be lost to corruption. Its just the reality Ive some to terms with. Over here, people know that, no matter what polititian comes to power, corruption is gonna happen and 8 or so years later there is gonna be a scandal and then a new corrupt asshole will win the elections.

Nightflash- I spoke to somepony on here privately about something that could profoundly change this website for the better. There's no doubt in my mind you're right, and that's what I was exactly afraid of- corruption, a word listed on my thread about the most hated things. Let's hope the top dogs can at least keep it to the minimum if Im going to participate

I am not afraid of corruption from the side of the site, but the side of the charity. I have faith that fellow bronyes won't cheat us out of money.

While I appreciate the support for our charity fundraiser, and I can definitely appreciate wishing people would do more for awesome causes like the BC Children's Hospital, I am going to lock this thread.  This forum tries to promote creating a friendly, tolerant environment and a thread devoted to attacking people for how they choose to donate their money simply isn't going to go anywhere good.  Thanks to everybody for their support of MCM!
