What is the Worst City You've Visited and Why?

Cleveland

I remember visiting that place two summers ago and seeing 4 or 5 consecutive blocks that were under construction in the downtown area. To be fair there were some neat looking buildings and Cleveland State's campus looked nice.

On our way back from a family trip to Florida, we decided to stop at Nashville, Tennessee to grab something to eat and look around.

It's got a great "party" vibe. And if you like country music, all the better.

But if you are an asthmatic, this is not the place for you.

If you are a vegetarian, this is not the place for you.

If you are under 21, this is not the place for you.

(I am an asthamtic, and under 21. I was a vegetarian.)

All they really have to offer are bars and barbeques. And they allow smoking almost everywhere! Looking for food was an extremely hard challenge, since you couldn't really walk inside any of the places without being over 21, and we had children with us.

Chicago. Or, more specifically, the wrong parts of it. As long as you stay in a certain area, it's OK. But the moment you go outside of that area... just don't. I recall when I went there, we left the safe area and immediately saw boarded-up windows, what appeared to be several shotguns, and absolutely no police presence. It also somehow got significantly darker, and lightened up again once we turned around.

Moral of the story: stay out of the edge of Chicago.

las vagas. there is nothing but casinos.

Not so. Vegas is one of the few cities I approve of, simply because there's so much to do. Casinos are a big part of it, but there are plenty of other things to do if you look for them. :)

The three places I lived in when I was forced to move to Colorado. I don't remember their names as I've tried to block that time out. But ever since then I've hated that state. One of main contributing factors was bad people and schools.

Agreeing with anyone who's said NYC.  I know it's sacrilegious to say around here (NJ), but every time I go it's barely worth whatever attraction I'm trying to see.  It's filthy, loud, and you get stopped by drug addicts begging you for money.  The history's interesting and there's some good food, and Central Park is nice, but the subway is extremely ghetto, the air smells gross, and the overall energy is extremely stressful and somewhat hostile.  Not a huge fan.

Haven't been to many bad places. Most of the time I find ways to enjoy myself in the cities I've visited. If I had to pick the worst, I'd have to say...

St. Louis. Last time I checked, it was jockeying with New Orleans & Detroit for the American murder capitol.

I went down there to see Slayer live in concert. Man that place is a depressing looking s##thole. Miles upon miles of rundown, graffitied houses. Oh look, theres the gateway arch. And back to s##ty, burned out, junked up scenery.

The hotel we managed to get was nice. We managed to find a Jack In The Box, which was awesome. Best fast food hashbrowns anywhere. And they serve Breakfast 24/7.

There was a distinct separation between the ghetto neighborhood, and the street where the college campus and concert hall were. Like night and day. The venue was alright. More modern, but smaller than my usual go to. The fans were all cool. Ended up talking before and after the show, and making jokes about the guys in the crowd asking "can we get senior discounts for the Slayer show?"

I'd say the worst part was the security. I'm guessing the Pageant doesn't host metal shows very often, and sold out ones at that. There was security not only in front of the stage, but also behind the crowd on the lower floor. That's just asking for trouble by sheer proximity. I was trying to get into the mood of things, moshing like I had never moshed before to opening act and thrash legends Exodus. But apparently, unbeknownst to me, I got knocked into a security guard one too many times, and they guy went up and throttled me, yelling at my face that if I did that again I was getting thrown out. It's Not like I purposely crashed into the guy.  Not my fault he was standing next to the pit either.  That sorta killed my mood for the last few songs of the first set. I went up and apologized to the guy, but he said he was just doing his job. Talking to a few people after the show and it looks like it wasn't just me either. Everybody else had rough times with the guards as well.

It was well worth the trip.

Los Angeles, California.

It was filthy, it smelled terrible, and the sky was brown.

Sky should not be brown.

It's called smog BTW. It's not good for the air.

Just curious, we're you in Compton? I've heard many bad things about it. Edited by CC_FlutterMaud

JK- Detroit IS NOT the place to be.

Downtown by the riverfront and stadiums is OK for the most part (at least in the day), but go a few more blocks than that and...

Shit gets real- real fast :o

All I know is that if I make a wrong turn and can't see the Renaissance Center building- My comfort level gets 20% less cooler each minute. I get on I-75 at the base of that building.

Well taking into the fact that I've traced many a miles around this globe, i can honestly answer with any major metro area in southern California or East coast metropolitan city.

Not a big fan of Chicago either but I'd live in any central city over the coasts any day

As far as Europe, I loved Munich

Detroit was a lot better in its hay days. I may be moving just north of there this summer with a New job offer (if it all works out)

The one city that I would love love love to move to would be Denver Co. That city is huge and probably one of the fastest growing city's currently in the US.

My grandparents used to work in the city back in the day. I live a little over a half-hour away from Detroit.

Ya most of my family was raised on GM. I'm originally from the Pontiac area and most relatives still live there. The rest of us has migrated to the northwest up near Travers City

For a small city it's a fairly nice place to live... Long as your expectations are just as small lol
