Notes before we begin:

1. I need dedicated people for this RP so if your not going to stick with it, then don't bother signing up in the first place.
2. I This will involve a good deal of headcanon so if you don't like, don't join. It won't be revealed until later really.

 

The Story:

 

An unknown pony arises from and area north of the Crystal Empire, commanding a horde of shadowy creatures known as shadow ponies. They wear armour, have a constant wicked grin on their shadowy faces, have ghostly blue eyes, and are literally made up of shadows. They resemble Earth Ponies or Pegasi, but no Unicorns.

These are not actual ponies, but manifestations of shadow itself-- so killing these is just dissipating them into shadow again. If enough of these shadow ponies gathers on a single pony, they can dominate its mind through fear and bend its will to their master's cause.

 

Their master seems to be a regular Pegasus, but he is decked out in terrifying armour that hides his identity. This unknown Pegasus master slowly starts conquering the world with his vast army of shadow ponies.

 

Where you come in:

Now, the actual Rping starts a few weeks or so before he even appears. At this time, his existence is more or less just whispers of something dark on the horizon. As an RPer, your Pony can play any of the following roles:

1. A follower of the Pegasus (AKA Mind controlled)
2. A Slice-of-Life regular pony (meaning you don't really have an allegiance)
3. an Equestrian Hero (you owe your allegiance to Equestria and the Princessess)

These aren't like jobs in RPGS, but more so alignment status, and where you start out in things. For example, if you choose to be a Follower of the Dark One, you are one of the few ponies who starts hearing his voice in your head. You aren't intimidated into joining him, but persuaded by his beautiful vision of the world. As an Equestrian hero, you might be in the equestrian army or something, and be one of the first ponies to first-hand witness fighting against the shadow ponies and their Dark Lord. An SoL pony is basically a villager/citizen.

 

Canon characters will be available for claims (This is one reason why I need dedicated RPers). Luna and Celestia will probably be controlled by me as well as the Dark Pony. (Obviously)

Now, I'm going to mention a Romance that is a later plot point that takes place in the past. The Dark pony and the two main Princessess (Celestia/Luna) already know each other from 1000+ years ago, however, they will not recognize him right away. It will take a while and some actual first hand accounts... So there will be headcanon history. Just a warning. Also, your characters is free to develop romantic relationships, but the main reason for the Romance tag was the headcanon history. The entire history will be presented throughout the RP, so don't worry if its a little confusing atm.

I have an entire story in my head and this is just probably 15% of it revealed to you, maybe less. If you're interested, dedicated, and a fairly good RPer, just submit your character here, and if I have enough people liking the idea I will turn it into an actual RP. Basically my plan is that when this RP is all done, it will play out like a very large story from many different view points.

Rules:

 

Before reading remember that I have strict rules for this RP as I want it to be actually GOOD. These apply in combination with the basic RP rules for this forum.

1. No Gmodding or metagaming (Especially no metagaming since I gave you the info here)
2. Be at least able to type 1 paragraph of text per post. (Thats 4-6 sentences, not much to ask)
3. Be respectful of other RPers!
4. Try and keep in the post order (If you do not post within 3-4 days your turn will be skipped unless you give us notice of absence) 
5. No killing! (I want nonlethal damage. Im trying to keep at least 1 aspect of this RP similar to the show)
6. Canons are available for claims, but you must PM me a really good example of you RPing as that character. I expect 2-4 paragraphs to be accepted. However, during the RP you only have to post 1 paragraph as canon character.
7. I have high expectations for OC's as well. At least 1 paragraph of personality and at least 2 paragraphs of history. I want some characters that have actually had thought and time put into them. Not rough OCs that were just made because somepony liked their look : / Also, no mary-sue/gary-stu. This isn't so much a rule as it is a warning... If I don't accept your character, this might be why.
8. Try to post 2-4 times a day.
9. Try to use proper grammar and spelling. It won't get you kicked if you don't, but at least attempt to spell check and grammar check yourself. (Or PM me your post and I'll look it over for you before you post it : ) )

I might Enter Dusk Shade, Lunas guard who served her since the fall of Discord. As for how he and Tyrannosaurus's character survived that long, when they swore to serve and protect the Princesses, they were granted the gift to live as the Princesses do, near undying as to serve them as long as they were needed. So, he would also know the pony since he was around then. Now the only problem is I am currently in the process of redoing his bio and I really havnt gotten a chance to do his back story.

@ Child of Darkness. While it is mostly dark and war themed, I don't plan on the dark army causing any deaths. Their main goal is domination through fear. Of course there will be combat, but it will probably be nonlethal. I mean dead slaves are rather useless >

 

@ Moonbacon. OC yes, as for joining as Twilight you would have to send me some really good RP samples as you RPing as Twilight Sparkle. Don't be intimidated by that, but just know my expectations are high for somepony RPing as a canon character.

 

@ Swinton, well by Fairly good I basically mean that you should be able to post at least a paragraph (5-6 sentences) with good punctuation and grammar and no OP crap. Example being teleporting all over the place and basically being a troll. As long as you don't do any negative things mentioned and post with proper spelling, punctuation, and grammar we'll get along nicely.

 

@ Cerebrony Understandable for Bio. I guess that would make sense, but still on the fence about the long life. The Luna's guard thing would make things very interesting. A guard of Celestia and Luna that would know the Dark pony.... Delicious idea for the plot, but bias might be driving my head. Just make the bio make sense and keept it interesting. : )

 

And for that I will finish by saying, if you really want to join this you will have to be dedicated. I don't expect 20 posts every day, but at least LEAST 3-5 posts per day. I'd even drop it down to 1 post per day, I know people have lives and stuff. As a forwarning I probably won't setup the OOC thread and RP thread until the weekend or Friday, that way I have time to pay attention and get the ball rolling on this thing without having to worry about Real life.

If fear is the weapon that this 'army of Shadows' are trying to utilise against the ponies of Equestria, I guess I'll have to reduce the number of ponies that I planned to put to the sword, but the occasional public execution is always a valuable commodity to have when inducing fear into the hearts and minds of common folk.

 

Also since I did not specify before, the OCs that I have are naturally evil and dark characters that relish in destruction and control. So no confusion in that I would not be very nice and want to be on the Side of The Shadows.

As a investigator/undercover royal guards. He stops danger before it happens and has huge respect among many Guards. As well as having the right to command them as a Lieutenant. 

 

I bet you can see why he would get involved. 

 

Also, he would clearly be on the Equestrian side.

Child of Darkness, Im sorry but Im going to have to put a firm No on your OC. Just the fact that he does have some powers that prove way too OP is what drives me to the negative. It also makes me feel like you put more work in your character's abilities then your actual character. Too Godlike in my opinion and the history really makes things weird for the RP. So again sorry, but firm No.

Tyran, need more personality and History descriptions. Just get very detailed.

 

I like the idea of the charged magic armor. Like a wizard casting spells in DnD (Nerdness showing) Just be careful not to OP it.
