What went through your mind as you knew you were becoming a brony?

So I was wondering..

what thoughts went through your mind as you began to watch my little pony, and slowly, you knew you were becoming a brony?

During my time... which was around the time I was watching the middle of the first season, I kinda was conflicted. I knew I was becoming one, so I tried to humiliate myself by saying I knew the name of all of the characters off of the top of my head. Saying pretty much, "Yea, this is so stupid, yet im so in love with watching it."

Those were my thoughts... what were yours? If any... If none of you have any.. well then that's awkward.

As I watched the very first episode, I could only feel potential embarrassment and the words "Welcome to the herd" repeating through my head.

I didn't quite know the scale of the brony community when I first started watching it. As I got to mid first season I remember thinking "oh crap, this show is awesome and I love it...", not wanting to accept it. But with my decision to watch season 2 also came my decision that I may as well own it, and I told my friends.

Having watched every episode multiple times, I never expected to be this into any show, especially this one. Only happiness and joy has come of it though, and I'm so glad I gave it a chance :)

I do believe it was something along the lines of:

"Huh. This show is much better than I expected it to be.

Wait, what? Pull yourself together, man! This is a show about magical horses!

Cute, funny, magical horses. Oh, crap. I think I'm hooked.

Well, I guess this is happening. Might as well sit back and enjoy the ride."

And then I watched three seasons in two days, joined a forum, and dove down the fandom rabbit hole headfirst.

I didn't really get time to even think about it... I just watched some clips of it on Youtube, and somehow it quickly moved to the stage where I was actively seeking fanfics of it. Everything in-between just sorta blurred together. :/

After I liked the first episode I viewed in the middle of the first season, I wasn't sure if I was going to be a fan of the show or not even as I started to watch them in order from the beginning. Eventually, I came to understand that I definitely enjoyed FiM and I only wanted to watch more of it.

I said, "I used to think bronies were so stupid. And now I'm becoming one of them!" I never thought I would someday like My Little Pony and that it would be "okay" for people like me to like it.

When I was watching the show for the first time I was in love with it but then the next day after I started feeling depressed/embarrassed/confused why I loved it and I was basically in an emotional breakdown for some reason.  But I can say that it was definitely worth it

At first I was skeptical. I am openminded to new things, but I approach them at first with some... I guess doubts would be the right word. My friend actually introduced me to the series with his outward bronyness (However, later he abandoned me in the fandom and I have not forgiven him. He left the herd : ( )

My first thoughts were "Hmmm, lets see what all this talk is about." So youtubed first episode and found myself pleasantly entertained. So I kept watching. 8 hours later I realized I had just binged the entire first season in 1 night. I didn't know what a brony was except for my friend. So I did some researching and found out that I fit into the category of brony. I wasn't really surprised because I have a history of becoming a diehard fan of many different fandoms. Spyro, mass Effect, Halo, Old Teen Titans, etc. Mostly video games, but occassionally shows. MLP being one of the most prominent fandoms that I support.

In short, my thoughts were this. "Hm... Im a brony now.... cool!"

I was largely confused. At the time, which was when the first season was airing, I had bought into the notion that MLP was for little girls. I had little no knowledge of there being at least three different versions of the show, and that each were fairly different. Honestly, when I had first heard of the show, I was largely indifferent. I wouldn't be watching it, but I didn't really care who watched it.

At the time, I was a big user of FurAffinity and that's how I kinda got introduced to the show. I wanted to see what the hype was about, so I watched a few episodes on YouTube, and...I was kinda stunned. The pilot episodes were actually decent, and it just felt like a regular cartoon made for everyone.

I didn't have any mind-breaking revelations or anything, but I can say that I just fell into the fandom with little, to no thought. I just liked the show like I liked Blazing Dragons. :)

Hmm... I was pacing around in my kitchen just talking to myself.

I wasn't against bronies at the time, in fact I only just discovered them. While pacing my thoughts were like, "I like this show. am I a brony? maybe, maybe not.". It felt like there was a physical change at that point, and I wanted to learn more about the fandom.

The rest is history.

The most amazing thing was how long it took, and how slow it crept up on me. Throughout 2011, I saw MLP images popping up on some pages I lurked (yes, I was such a big lurker before I came onto this site :P ).

I didn't have the same initial reaction others did. I came in with an open mind and knew full well that a cartoon for girls can have appeal outside of its target demographic, as proven by The Powerpuff Girls.

I decided to check out a couple of episodes during the summer of '11 (at the time, I had DirecTV in my room, which was short-lived, and I was unaware of the series being on YouTube).

My initial opinion was that it was a decent show, but nothing extremely special. I said to myself that I would come back to it for some good entertainment but I didn't see myself becoming devoted to it.

By November of that year, I started to expose myself more to fan content like PMVs and compilations, as well as the MLP Wiki. Then I found out that episodes were available on YouTube.

Unlike many others who started from the beginning, I started with the episodes that sounded the most interesting to me. I continued to watch more and more and view more fan content. By January 2012, I was so hooked that I had watched every single episode.

As I discovered more and more of the fandom with each passing day, and each passing week, this summed up my thoughts exactly:
