movies/tv Be Cool, Scooby-Doo! new character designs

They do look like Family Guy rejects. xP

That aside, I think it does catch the cartoon-y look very well. Then again, there is something about them that puts me off. I suppose they're a little too cartoon-y, but I can't put my finger on it.

Character designs are, in my opinion, subjective. Much like music and humour, almost everybody will have an opinion on a certain design, but at the end of the day, it's what the professions went with. Even if I have mixed feelings towards these new designs, I'd rather not think of the designers as people who are bad at their jobs.

No, just, no. This is not the Scooby-Doo we all know and love. It doesn't even resemble any of the million incarnations. (I grew up with the 2002 version What's New, Scooby Doo?, which was definitely great, and for animation, it was similar to the original, but in a much higher definition). I could forgive if it looked good, but this one looks like a little kid could have done it. I still can't put my finge on what really pisses me off, though. I still can't form a full opinion since we haven't seen it in motion, and it ends up being very different when that happens. Even so, Cartoon Network is a channel of originality and quality (with the exception of Teen Titans Go!), so I'll still check it out.

I'm not sure how many people still care about Scooby Doo... I never did much. Maybe a little at most. :P

I don't think these new designs are that bad though... though, I wouldn't mind, like, new characters or something... but eh, that franchise was never really daring enough to try something like that- I mean really, how many times do we have to see weirdos from the 70's with a talking dog meddling with men in ghost costumes before people get tired of it?

I'm more concerned with the knobs coming out of their knees...they may wanna get that checked out by a witch doctor. Eh? Get it? Haha

Anywaaaays cringe worthy jokes aside, like I have said in another Scooby-Doo thread many months ago, they should let the show die out naturally and stop trying to keep it alive; otherwise they are beating a dead horse over and over again!

It pains me to say this, because I grew up to Scooby-Doo, and no kidding, sat through every series they came out with growing up. However, it has run its course long enough.  :(

God those look awful! Certainly not the Scooby Doo look I grew up with. No offense to the artists, but I'm not a fan.  >_>

The problem with the new art style is that it doesn't even look like Scooby-Doo!, it looks like a parody of Scooby-Doo!

Sorry, but I think the designs are too weird. Certainly not as good as the Scooby-Doo I saw when I was younger (Scooby Doo, Where Are You and What's New Scooby Doo).

Scooby Doo is one of my favorite cartoons. (Scooby Doo,Where Are You. What's New Scooby Doo. Scooby Doo: Mystery Incorporated.)

So,they better not go the Teen Titans Go,route with this.

Ohhhhhh my....

This is atrocious. If they're so desperate for money to go down this path, I'd sooner see the show brought off the air. The only one to escape unscathed is scooby; Fred and Shaggy have been flandarized and Velma and Daphne look... Unnatural...

Edit: I think the trope "uncanny valley" sums up my feelings.

SHAGGY AND FRED'S KNEES ARE BACKWARDS! WHAT THE FUCK AM I EVEN LOOKING AT!?

You see this? This is a fantastic redesign from a fantastic show that really managed to pull off the redesign well.

Look at how detailed and stylish they are. They look amazing! I don't even like classic Scooby Doo, but the characters in Mystery Inc were just so damn good that they won me over in a heartbeat.

Those... things are not only a step back from Mystery Inc, nor a step back from the 70s, or even from the live action movies, they are a step back from terrible fanart. They are some of the most abhorrent character designs I have ever laid eyes on, and have sadly confirmed my fears that Mystery Inc's excellence was a one-time deal. We're probably not going to get another smart Scooby show anytime soon.
