What if Hasbro licenced a professional Japanese animation company to create a MLP anime series with either humans or ponies, what would be your reaction to the news and what would you like from it if they was going to be one made?

Not sure if Hasbro would ever make their own, but the fans could...

Since "furry anime" exists,  I won't be surprised if there'd really be a "brony anime" at any point (though I am almost sure they won't be making it too similar, that'd be a copyright infringement)

If I ever heard an announcement of an MLP anime (in pony form mind you) after FiM has ended (it being a continuation to the show), I would be ecstactic. You have no Idea how much ideas I have for it.

The main ongoing TV series would be the core format of the anime. While still having SoL and comedy elements with bits of adventure thrown in, the more adventure based arcs would have more action and suspense then what you'd usually see in FiM. On top of seeing many new characters (including more stallions), we would also see new places in Equestria, as well as places beyond it. We'd also see more new creatures and races. While having recurring villains (like Trixie, Flim Flam brothers, and Chrysalis), there would also be new ones along the way. Plus, Sunset Shimmer would play a bigger role in the series.

On top of the ongoing series, there would be additional media for the anime, such as movies, OVAs, specials, short films, music videos, spinoff shows, and ONAs.

The movies would come out once a year with a theatrical release, and have larger scale adventures than the adventure episodes in the ongoing series, also having their own villain(s). Each movie would also have more elaborate animation than the TV series. They would all have their share of funny moments, as well as dark and sad moments, as well as moments of exciting action.

There would be two kinds of OVAs. The first kind would be side-stories that would be compared to the arcs of the IDW comics. When I say that, I mean that each chapter of an OVA would be the equivalent of one or two comic issues depending one how long the arc is (each side-story OVA would have two chapters). The other kinds of OVAs would be a series called "Equestria Chronicles", which would be a worldbuilding series that would each have an hour long episode that talks about an even in Equestria's timeline. The animation for the OVAs. wouldn't be as great as the movies, but still better than the TV series.

The specials would basically be movies with 1-2 hour long broadcasts on TV. They would mostly be background stories involving certain characters, like one about Twilight's first day at the Canterlot School of Gifted Unicorns.

The short films would be equivalent to many fan made animations, including ones like Snowdrop and Fall of the Crystal Empire

Music videos would be equivalent to PMVs made by fans, with them having a song as the dominant element, such as Children of the Night, No Matter what we're Friends, and this. They'd be typically shorter than the short films.

There can be numerous spinoff shows on TV, like one about Daring Do and one about Power Ponies, just to name a few.

There would also be ONA (original net animation) shows would would be about background characters, like Derpy, Vinyl and Octavia, and Lyra and Bon Bon.

If the anime TV series ever does it, there would be a successor TV series to be made after it (Just like Naruto Shippuden after Naruto and DBZ after Dragonball). It would be basically be about Next gen characters (offspring of shipping pairs), the best candidates for the show being Kilala97's characters. That series would also have different movies and specials to go along with it, while Equestria Chronicles would still continue.

That might be interesting, but I have my doubts if it would be that great. I have the Japan exclusive manga, and from what I've managed to read so far, it's not bad, and I would best describe it as cute, but if you're looking for epic, I'd say stick to the show or read the IDW comics. If an anime adaptation were to be made, I think it would be fairly similar in style and execution. If you like the slice of life side of the show, it probably wouldn't disappoint, and if you want to see Japanese style randomness, it would probably have that in spades. Personally, I'd rather the Japanese dub of the show continue so I can hear some of my favorite songs from more recent seasons in Japanese, but if fans want to make their own anime adaptation I might actually be quite interested in seeing how that turns out.

If it's done the way I envision it, it could end up being better than the actual show itself.

I for one would most definately watch it. I remember that April Fools thing with Spike in space in some kind of transmission I got legit excited only to later find out it was a prank XD.

My Little Pony: Dragonfire was the name of it.

I was kinda mad when i found out it wasn't real...

I would be super excited if Hasbro announced an anime for MLP! I love anime art styles and even if the entire story was the exactly same, I would watch it all with great enthusiasm!

The possibility of an anime of MLP is about 0. Taking direct things from the storyline would basically just be cheating. If anything they would create a new plot + characters, but could easily base it off MLP. I mean the previous Gens have a lot of content they have yet to use in this gen that could make a nice storyline.

I used to have one idea that it could possibly be like its own gen, like being a seperate universe but still being MLP. Maybe some Japanese company would work with Hasbro so they could make their own MLP show, but have a different setting, different plot, and different characters.

Not a big fan of anime (as the only one I watch is DBZ) but I'd totally LOVE to see an anime of MLP, with either ponies or humans   I would get way too exited about it!

Although IMO, MLP already has some kind of anime feel.. with the expressions they make and 'big' eyes :muffins:

I'm not sure how to feel about that.  I'd have to see the art direction first.  I mean, I'd hate for the series to become sexualized like so many anime, and also, just because a Japanese artist is doing the drawing doesn't immediately make it good.  Not all japanese animations look good, although I'll admit it's rare to find one that doesn't.

My main problem is that, to me, MLP is already an anime in a way.  If you were to change the art style, and perhaps a few of the "cutesy" words, the show would be in par with any anime in my opinion.  It might already be there as it is actually.

I'd probably end up watching it, though whether I'd still watch it depends on quality. That said, I'd have high hopes for it as the main show does have some ideas and tropes that would make for a good Magical Girl anime
