(Suggestion): Anti-Bullying campaign.

There has been more than 1 brony (and to be quite honest a few non-bronies) who have attempted, or succeeded in taking there own lives due to bullying, which, even just one is just heinous and wrong on all levels. I myself have been a victim of bullying in the past (when I was much too small to do much about it), and know it makes you feel so bad, and trapped, and unwanted.

What im suggesting, is our forums go on an anti-bullying campaign, to try and make our internet a much better place to roam. We could make petitions, utilize social media to send mass messages, and the like. Our community is great and can do anything if we put our minds to it, so whatcha say MLP forums?

Yes.

This needs to stop now.

And, I think I'll be able to help a bit.

Like, a lot a bit.

Most anti-bullying campaigns are far too pacifist.

And no, I'm not going to be forceful; I'm just going to show these people the consequences of their actions.

If we show them some of the stuff, they'll be horrified/schocked. I hope.

How are you going to go about doing that? I agree that this phenomenon of bullying has to be stopped, but how?

Yes, this.

Raising awareness could be one way, but what would that do?

It wouldn't even make a dent, not in the slightest.

It might help some, sure, but I highly doubt bullies will just stop because bronies disagree with it.

(Also, most of them could be considered trolls.

How many trolls do you know that will stop because you asked them to?)

I don't know about that.

A lot of bullies, if not most, bully because they want the result, not just because they feel like doing so.

I was thinking more along the lines of petitioning sites to ban members that bully on those sites... Especially youtube.

That would send a very solid message that their behavior is unwanted, and even dangerous.

Honestly if I was in charge of a any kind of social network where someone committed suicide because of bullying I would com down as hard as I could on the people responsible. I would think that the right for Google to have done with the Adam Smith situation would have been to look at the records for the posts deleted by the people who pushed him over the edge and hand them over to the police. I would have a very hard time believing that deleting a YT comment actually deletes it in the database.

I think signing a petition for getting forums are social network to ban or otherwise punish bullies is a great idea, that is something that is really needed. I don't see many ways that could be abused either, though there is a potential there, but that's a different issue.

I support this, but about the YouTube thing. YouTube has a report button, and when said button is clicked, you choose "hate or violence". Either that or (if it's on your video) delete the comment or ban the person.

ALSO:

The people we need to stop are not the bullies, we need to get some sense into YouTube. They clearly know that someone committed suicide due to bullying, to WHY WOULD THEY STILL ALLOW IT?! We need to get YouTube to pay attention to this, one way or another.

I don't see why not, perhaps a campaign would at least make an attempt in others to respect each other for who they are. I find bullying goes without disciplinary action in most places I see, mainly on the internet from anonymous users. I believe it's gotten worse over the years, like total strangers in public decide to poke fun at me from what I wear or how I act, as if I'm supposed to act a certain way or fit some kind of standard. Everyone is different as cliche that may sound, it's just a matter of acceptance that would possibly eliminate most occurrences of bullying. I usually wonder if it's this bad only in my country, or if other countries have lower possibility rates. Social media maybe? I'm not sure, just throwing it out there. Perhaps those countries in a certain depth of poverty are more kind to others? I would give up all my belongings just to be around those who share that kindness.

Hey guys, I gotta say I fully support any effort to attempt to try and stamp out some bullying! But as much as I hate to say this it's unlikely we could do much, I'm not saying we shouldn't try because that's a super great idea!!!

The only thing I can think of is like a Bronie video explaining what bullying has done to many people in our community and other communities and hope it gets somewhere and people pay attention. But besides that there isn't much we can do, bullying sucks but besides giving support its hard to make much of a dent, espically online where everyone mocks everyone... But hey, I support this idea of trying! If you need me to do anything send me a message and P.S good idea!!!

(I hope this all made sense)

hate to say it guys, but bashing the bullies wont do anything. they will always be there. we focus on helping those who need it learn how to deal with these people.

so true. there were 2 bullies in middle schoolo who followed me to high school and aproached my friend and i. my friend walked away to avoid the argument, but i stood my ground. after much arguing and something about me tellling them to dig some food out of the trash can like their kind was meant to, they finally left. and they were PISSED xD

this community has such a positive atmosphere what better place to start!

I was saying it to my friend last night that a huge part of bronies I like is that on this forum I haven't seen any bullying, rudeness, or put downs, and that's amazing for the internet. If any website were to attempt to make a dent into bullying it should be us.

Just wanna point out bullying won't stop no matter what we threaten to do. What we need to do is teach people to be noble and to help and protect others. If someone stood up to my grade-school bully and told me he was wrong and I was worth something I'd believe em'. This world need is filled with a lot of viscous and terrible people who tend to frighten and hurt people to the point where they become silent and too afraid to do anything. We need to get people to stand up. Not just for their sake, but for others as well.

Although I have to admit bullying caused me to become who I am today, and without it I might actually be dead. My depression is intense and I may have taken my own life. These years of bullying, as painful it is to look back into the past, have made me who I am. This proves yet again there's a positive side to everything. Bullying potentially saved my life; not ended it.

Something that touched me and affected me very deeply was the suicide death of Adam Smith last spring. The great tragedy of that death was that it didn't make it into the media until months later.

I've been disturbed by that event ever since I first heard about it and I decided that I'd try to do something to help.

What I've been doing is that, whenever I come across the Youtube site of a fellow brony or pegasister who's obviously under attack from internet trolls (that's usually who the bullies are) I'll do what I can to leave posts that lift them up, encourage them, to let them know that they're not alone, that there is someone who does care about them and how they're feeling.

Sure, there could be petitions and all kinds of campaigns to end internet bullying and that's great but there are times when it's obvious we're needed right at that moment so let's all do what we can to help those under attack by leaving honest, sincere and caring words to help them through it.
