MLP:FiM disappearing from Netflix - Ongoing discussion

While January 1st didn't mark the end of Friendship is Magic on Netflix, it appears that February 2nd may be the date when it officially does leave the streaming service.  The image above lists the "availability" date, and multiple calls and chats to Netflix has confirmed that it is legit.

There may be a way to save it though.  A few moments ago I spoke to one of their representatives on the live chat service to double confirm. They basically confirmed it, but also noted that my account would be marked letting the higher ups know that there is demand for it to remain. Here's to hoping we can get a renegotiation going on the contract with Hasbro

I feel bad for people that rely on Netflix to get their daily pony.

I agree with Chikorita, Dailymotion has almost every episode on the site in great quality.

I hope to purchase all of the physical copies of the seasons in the future. I would rather have them as a CD than any type of digital form. Save room on my PC and my external HDD.

I have Netflix but I don't use it that much anyway because my internet sucks. I only watch it my phone sometimes. I usually watch it on TV anyways but I feel bad for the people who watch it on Netflix. At least all the episodes are on Dailymotion.

Daily Motion is always available and the show on Netflix will probably end up like Mean Girls; that is going on streaming, then taken off, then put back on, then taken off again, and finally back on. It might be added back later though, you never know.

Anyway, this doesn't really bother me because we don't have Netflix here in Australia. But I feel sorry for the people who watch MLP on Netflix.

People post episodes on Dailymotion all the time since Hasbro is a big copyright hog on Youtube. So, there's where you can find them. Heck, I watched my first episode surfing the web.

Unless you have internet the quality of dial-up. Dailymotion would just kill whatever you're watching if you have slow internet, causing it to have bad frames at unwatchable 240p.

Like my internet, which I can never be able to watch anything on DM. Yet Netflix works perfectly fine.

You should've fit this with your picture:

Even though I don't have Netflix, I feel sorry for the people who are dependent on it to watch the show. I usually just tune in to the Hub or watch it on Dailymotion/Youtube.

MysteriousBrony or AstrumSpark upload top-notch quality on Dailymotion when the episodes come out.

I'm set, so Netflix can go do what it wants. I have every single episode to date and both Equestria Girls movies burned to DVDs that play on my stand alone DVD player, on my desktop computer's "C" drive, on two external hard drives, on my tablet, and on my laptop. I used to have them in my phone, but they didn't play right and the screen is to little for my poor eyesight.

Yo ho, the pirate life for me!

Actually, a friend hooked me up! She's not much of a bronie, but she grabbed every single episode, converted them, and put them up as torrents. I didn't illegally download though, I swear! She gave me copies on a thumb drive as she completed each batch. She's the pirate!

LOL!

I don't have a Netflix account, but if I did, I would be concerned by this. I currently watch the show though Dailymotion, but I would watch Netflix if I had a steady income to pay for it. It would concern me to see Hasbro allow a streaming deal to expire as it would cut off the most readily available legal method to watch the show, at least in the US and any other countries that may be part of it. This would have a negative impact on everyone involved, as it would encourage piracy and hurt Hasbro's image, making them appear uncooperative with their consumers.

Hasbro is in no place to be screwing around. Discovery Family is a dying channel that virtually no one will watch for anything but MLP and LPS, thus Netflix has potential as one of MLP:FiM's lifelines should things get even more sour around there. They need to be more cooperative and see the potential long-term gain here, which is something media companies today are known for skipping out on doing.

'Pony Munchies steps forward.'

Why Netflix? Why? Did I not rewatch it 10 times? 'Sobing comeing from the corner' All I wanted to do was watch rainbow ponies school me in Friendship.

I have Netflix, the best package. Looks like I'll have to get watching again soon. Still have only seen the first five episodes.

I wonder if it will appear on Hulu.

Whoa, whoa, whoa. Let's pause for a second and calm down a bit. Netflix has been made aware of peoples interest on keeping the show available and they just stated that their license is just due to expire for it. Licensing for shows expire and are renewed all the time so there's no need to start bashing on them for this. They've been made aware of the fans interest in keeping the series available and I'm sure there's enough push behind it for them to renew it
