I'll have to go w Dulset Tarn  The part in Canterlot Wedding where it is revealed Twilight was right & Cadence was evil.  That episode was possibly the worst shock for Twilight as well -the part where not only would her friends not believe her, but Celestia wouldn't either.  In fact, IIRC, Celestia wouldn't even listen to her & just basically blew her off.  That had to hurt.

I was verbally freaking out watching that. Like omg, "YOU KNOW FOR KIDS" and all that jazz. I'm a very passive observer of media, so anything that can get a legitimate physical reaction out of me asides from the occasional chuckle has my respect.

My most recent was yesterday when I finally figured out how Big Macintosh actually got his "injury" in "The Ticketmaster" and "Applebuck Season." XD. Applejack is SO mean.

 

Also how far Fluttershy went when telling Pinkie and Rarity off in "Putting Your Hoof Down" I was like...... ......... LOL REALLY!?!?! HAHAHAH!!!!!

 

I also had a similar reaction to the Fluttershy vs. Bear scene in "Lesson Zero" and the Tirek vs Twilight scene in the season 4 finale. It's just stuff you wouldn't expect to see in a show like this.

 

 

Oh and Sweetie Belle's line, "that must be what Rarity uses on her emergency edible boots."  I immediately thought of the old James Bond movie. I was like Okayyy thennnn...   Looks like Sweetie Belle found something and Rarity quickly came up with a quick BS excuse (Think of how Rarity was acting when switching between the two parties in "Sweet and Elite")

I mean yeah, Chrysalis' reveal was dramatic and somewhat creepy, Tirek's magic-sucking power seemed quite dark.

Personally I found what happened just before that more shocking. The Elements flare up, all blast right at Twilight, and then... she's a smoldering crater. They never even show what her friends were thinking, even though Twilight was gone for HOURS.

Celestia attempting to defeat Chrysalis, then failing. Up to that point, I was under the impression that she was a nigh unstoppable goddess. During her incredibly long rule, I could have easily seen her overthrowing many threats (as well as assassination attempts) without too much effort. But this was definitely the moment where all of that shattered to pieces. 

 

Unfortunately, this was only the beginning of her downward spiral, and it would only get worse from there...

Most let-down moment is right when you've finished watching The Crystal Empire and realize that Sombra didn't actually do anything besides look scary, hiss slaves in a way that's really hard to understand, and tried to eat Spike and the Crystal Heart.

Most shocking moment is the fact that they'd put something as dark as somepony trying to steal someother pony's love by tricking them into marrying them in a kids show and have them sing about it. Actually reminded me a bit of The Little Mermaid. Also, Pinkie's hair deflating for the first time. Scary.

Babs is a better villain than Sombra, just saying.

Oh absolutely, she probably knows like, all the spells. But in terms of raw power, she could be as low as... I dunno, three average unicorns?

That's hard to say though if we go by the "Journal of the Two Sisters." IIRC, it took a team of more than three unicorns INCLUDING Starswirl to raise and lower the sun & moon, and it essentially drained their power. In contrast, when Celestia took over the sun duties, she not only did it with little effort, but managed to gain power from it AND gave back the power that the unicorns had lost.

 

So...hard to tell.
