Are the Equestria Girl Really All That Human?

~Flash Brush~

Recommended Posts

Just a simple question. Can the Equestria Girls really be that human compared to our standards? Just to 100% human melanin does not turn purple or pink. All "regular humans" are brown or just really really really pale (or albino???) They may have the human structure, but I don't really think they could really be classified as a human by our standards. They use phones computers and other electronics, and they (the mane six) still have their powers when Twilight is around and even when she is not around and back in Equestria. Strange don't you think. If one of them where to come to my house I would love to invite them in, but it would still be odd to have a purple skinned person inside of my house and my mother wouldn't really like to that that either. She'd freak out to be 100% like Applejack.....

Just tell me what you think down in the comment section down below. Now time for the epic signature that I have been using since the very very very first day kinda!

It's open for interpretation, but it's my opinion that the universe portrayed in Equestria Girls is our universe.

Much like I'd say Family Guy is set in our universe. Sure the dog talks, and the characters all only have four fingers. But these are just artistic and narrative devices. They're not intended to suggest that Peter Griffin inhabits an alternative universe. Family Guy ain't Sci-Fi.

So the slightly inhuman appearance of the humans in Equestria Girls is, for me, just an artistic device intended to emphasise the characters' connection to the ponies in Equestria.

It's quite obvious that they are human.  Applejack has a New Jersey tan, Rainbow Dash has cyanosis, Twilight has even worse cyanosis, Pinkie Pie is perpetually sunburned, Rarity is an albino, and Fluttershy has jaundice from some kind of kidney problem, apparently.  It's awfully insensitive of you to say they're not human for all having skin conditions.  From the looks of it, Canterlot High and the surrounding community is for people with rare skin disorders.

I've always considered the EQG universe to be a 'bridge' between our universe and Equestria, combining elements of both worlds. I'm one of those people who goes way too far in thinking of this stuff.

Yep, I believe they're all human, their main difference to us, are their skin color, which, as stated previously, only empathize their connection to their pony counterparts. In fact, in comparison to many cartoon humans, they're proportionally closer to us in shape, sure, their legs are longer, their torso is smaller, heads and eyes bigger, but at at least they have five fingers :P

Well, they look a whole lot more like humans than the inhabitants of Equestria look like ponies if you ask me, so make of that what you will

Lets be fair, even with todays BEST video mocap, and computer graphics, we are not even close to the physical apperance of a real human.

That being said, I honestly believe the films would be made that much worse if the girls didnt have skin tone of there pony forms. But I do see your point.

I still go back to my original complaint is they are all the same size, even in pony form some of the Mares look differnt in height and girth (Mrs Cakes and Miss Harshwhinney)

Can the Equestria Girls really be that human compared to our standards?

Due to the fact that our reality and their fictional one are inherently different there is no real basis for comparison to measure how 'human' they are. Although one might argue that their origination from human conception does imbue them with anthropomorphic traits, not just visually but just as imaginations in general.

ust to 100% human melanin does not turn purple or pink.

Have you ever seen someone with light skin on a cold winter day? How about hypothermia or jaundice? And how do you account for sunburns and tattoos? Human skin can actually change its appearance to a wide degree under certain conditions. Moreover, melanin is not the only measure of biological humanity.

If a person in our world had every trait of being human with the one exception of having an unusual skin tone then it's probable that most biologists would conclude they were in fact a human being. To say otherwise is effectively prejudice.

They may have the human structure, but I don't really think they could really be classified as a human by our standards. They use phones computers and other electronics, and they (the mane six) still have their powers when Twilight is around and even when she is not around and back in Equestria.

So they have basic human structure as well as comparable technological progress(affirming intelligence) and social habits but they can't be classified as humans by 'our standards'? What standards are you talking about? Do you expect some kind of DNA test to be conducted on fictional inter-dimensional magical beings?

The humans of Equestria Girls are human by their own standards, which is to say our standards.

I think that even though they are in the 'human world', the creators of the movies want to keep the distinctive pony colors and cutie marks. In fact, the human world may just be something to add a bit of spice to the original mlp series, since there's not much difference between the two worlds other than there are no horns, wings, and they're definitely not ponies.

I see them as a different species in a different world.

Family Guy I don't really think of as a universe at all. It's just a comedy with no rules of physics. Sure MLP plays fast and loose with physics but there are some rules. Nopony gets their head cut off and then is fine in the next scene.

Honestly... Their like HUGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Also regular humans would not take giant flying rainbows and magic that easily... Theyd probably call the police or NA 0.o

They're humanoid, but they're not exactly the way we are. I'm not entirely sure what the artists intended, but the impression I got from the EQG series is that the alternative universe is similar to ours and populated by humanoids on that planet, but not actually our earth.

To me it wasn't meant to be a carbon copy of our real world. They're human; but not exactly like humans as we truly know them to be. Of course it will share similarities; but it's not the same.
