OK then,

5. Covenant Grunts from Halo, they just are so hopeless and utterly funny.

4. Genome Soldiers from Metal Gear Solid, because they get very curious and are extremely vulnerable.

3. The Witch in Left 4 Dead, because of the music when she's around and her deceptive sobbing.

2. Everyone in Five Nights at Freddy's, they each have their own sad story to tell.

1. Creepers from Minecraft, because they destroy your beautiful creation when your done with it or your house and now you have to recollect everything or risk losing them. Plus they're cute.

My favourite bosses on the other hand.

5. Z-Gradt from Virtual On, this massive hulking machine is extremely scary and it's primary weakness is when it turns gold and uses it's laser, you have to dash behind the laser and shoot at it. It took me 5 years to realize it.

4. Dural from Virtua Fighter, she copies everyone's moves, and will own you.

3. The Fear from Metal Gear Solid 3, he's generally unnerving and is hard if you don't fake your death or use thermal goggles.

2. Giygas from Earthbound, he's extremely disturbing and if you look at him another way. He looks like a fetus.

Time for Honorable Mentions.

Willard Spider Mutant from Tomb Raider 3: he's immortal and pretty much omnipotent, that is until you remove the artifacts from their places, my sister is afraid of spiders so he's very disturbing.

Minion from Twisted Metal Black: He drives a massive vehicle armed with a flamethrower and electricity and will relentlessly try to kill you, his speed makes him extremely scary.

Z.O.E from Ace Combat 2: The abbreviation, Zone of Endless, may sound like Zone of the Enders, but this boss is one of the trickiest, as it's an AI and knows advanced Aerial Moves.

Joe Fang from Virtua Cop 2: This Boss Battle is so epic, as dramatic music plays, you and Joe fight on a rooftop with Joe wearing a jetpack, as you see an airship explode in the background. You can assume nervous onlookers watching the fight from below.

Devil 13 from Ridge Racer: Like Minion, speed is the reason why this is boss is scary, but it's not just that, it has a very evil looking appearance, and it will stop on lap 2, then if you overtake it, you have to make sure it doesn't overtake you as you won't have a chance of overtaking it again, the other wierd thing is because it's an arcade game, in-universe, it has infinite fuel, infinite durability and a top speed of 200+ MPH.

OK, Time for Number 1.

1. Wild Dog from Time Crisis, because the boss battles with him get consistently more epic and he always blows himself up after each fight, only to return in the next game. The equally epic music helps. Including the memorable fountain scene from Time Crisis 1.

So you may criticize my choices, but I think it's pretty straightforward to be honest.

1. Norts (Rogue Trooper)

All hail Nortland! Tough as nails and dedicated to their fascist cause.

2. Strogg (Quake 4)

A Strogg should never be pushed around. Hardcore alien warriors and willing to see humanity's end.

3. Hunters (Manhunt)

Their sole purpose is to find you and cut you up. Whenever you encounter them, prepare yourself for a fight to the death.

4. Enclave (Fallout 3)

Remnants of the U.S government, their mission is to restore the once great and powerful nation of the United States of America, no matter the costs.

5. Replicas (F.E.A.R)

Intelligent and heavily armed clone soldiers, answering to a psychic commander. Better take them out, before they do you.

Honorable Mentions for normal enemies.

Draugr from Skyrim: They look like Eddie from Iron Maiden or any other Heavy Metal Power God.

Poochyena from Pokemon: OMG it's so cute!!!

The Guards from Assassin's Creed IV: Because some of them are actually Incompetent, getting drunk on duty and missing their sword hits.

Any Helicopter or vehicle: It just feels so satisfying destroying a helicopter with your bare hands(Ahem, Liquid).

The Panau Armed Forces in Just Cause 2: They are so incompetent that they actually scream when you do wierd stuff with them. Also, they risk having everything owned by them blown up.

That's it for now.

So, we're talking about normal enemies, not bosses, right ? So, my top five would be, in no particular order :

1) Caliban (Silent Hill Origins ):

Very creepy, especially the way they stand, they walk on four legs, but their back legs are bent in front of their body, if that makes sense. Can you picture it ? They are first introduced as bosses, but they return afterwards as normal enemies with slightly less health. Really tough opponents, fighting them is unwise. If you see one, just run.

2) Samurai Wasp (Alice Madness Returns)

They offer a decent challenge, and I always found them cute with their samurai armors.

3) Protectors (Bioshock/Bioshock 2).

I don't like their English names. They are called Big Daddies in the English version (although they are referred to as Protectors in some audio logs) and the little sisters call them Dad ( I think). In the French version, they are called Protectors and the Little Sisters call them Mr.P.

4) Stage 3 Mutant (Obscure/ Obscure 2 )

Not expecting anyone to know this as this is an obscure game (LOL) and not very well known outside of France. Since it is a French game by a French studio. Introduced via a cutscene in the late game, they are really tough and just plain scary with their one-hit kill.

5) Assassin (Wolfenstein)

The Nazi Assassin, one of the most powerful soldiers in the Wehrmacht. Has the ability to  become invisible for a period of time and even to teleport behind you. Is armed with two knives and loves to kill people (civilians and enemy soldiers alike). Oh, and the substance that allows him to become invisible also alters his mental abilities, turns him crazy. That's why he is such a cold blooded killing machine.

  • 1 year later...

(Re-do of my old one ^^)

In no particular order:

5th: (Not really an enemy but hey what the hell) Any opponent in World of Tanks in a tank a higher tier then my own, I like the challenge of fighting a tank I should have issues with in my own.

4th: The Borderlands Psychos, I have always had a special place in one of my older games Borderlands 1 for the Psycho, then in 2 and the Pre Sequel I still enjoyed fighting them (Or playing as one  )

3rd: Timesplitters in Timesplitters 1, 2 and Future Perfect, these terrifying creatures as a child on TS1 were fucking horrible to run from when the objective was grabbed... Urrrgh...

2nd: Enclave Fallout Franchise, I love the Enclave as enemies, they are intimidating, more advanced, and better equipped them the player most of the time on the first encounter, and they always are better outfitted then the Brotherhood of Steel so if they are allies they are not a HUGE decider in the victory of the main character (I especially loved their appearance in Fallout NV during Hoover Dam, that was fun)

1st: Locust, Gears of War / Necromorphs, Dead Space, both of these creatures in both games they feature in are formidable in groups, terrifying in their own right, especially Necromorphs yeesh they are nasty as hell... And both are huge reminders that the player isn't always as invincible as they think, the larger Locust troops and more dangerous Necromorphs constantly remind the player of this

If you mean generic enemies, I've got these in no particular order:

-Koopas in Mario series. And by koopas, I mean the species as a whole, including subspecies like spinies, lakiti, magikoopas, hammer bros, ect

-Metroid's space pirates. I love slaughtering these cruel and evil enemies without remorse

-Crack dealers in GTA San Andreas. 2000$ per kill? Hell yeah

-Demon family in the metroidvanias

-Succubi in metroidanias and in the Prinny games

Respect to all those examples -- even if they do make my blood boil actual-gameplay-wise.

You know, I'd love if in the afterlife we could do all the crap we've fantasied about, so these mothafuckas exist, and kick their asses SMB2/DDP, and WWF  :D . You imagine doing an epic suplex to these motherfuckers? I do  :please:
