Chrono Cross is, to this day, my favorite video game.

Chrono Cross was my first RPG growing up, I was about 8-9 years old when I got it. This was the game that hooked me on the RPG genre and led me to play the greats like Final Fantasy, Legend of Dragoon and others.

I still own the game but lost the strategy guide, sad days, that book was wonderful! I haven't beaten the game in about a decade, so I'm going through it again and it's very strange! Memories are flooding back like crazy, it feels great.

Does anyone else have a love for this classic game like I do? I've never talked to anyone else about it because no one else I've ever known has ever played it. I don't know what anyone else thinks of this game, the boss battles or the characters.  :(

Chrono Cross fans, I'm trying to reel you in here.  :)

Chrono Cross was my first RPG game as well and i played in elementary school. I liked it pretty well but couldn't play it until my mother finally told me to fight my own battles. I used to ask her to fight for me if there was any battles because i somehow was scared. Although i still have it, i'm still stuck at the swamp where you have to find the mother or something and the girl with the knife is sick so you have to find a cure. Still fun play though.

Chrono Trigger is one of my favorite games of all time, but I could never get into Cross.  Honestly, it put me to sleep.  I'm sorry.  I don't mean to rag on your favorite game.  It's a fine game, but games are like that.  Sometimes a game just doesn't click with you, even when it's a great game and a genre you love.

To each their own you know! One of the aspects of Cross that I adore has been the soundtrack. Though I've never played Trigger, I've listened to its score and it is good for the era of older games, the sort of music you can create on the older computers as they did in those days. It's that Cross is instrumental and to me, that opens many doors in the heart and the mind that older scores cannot do for myself. Older "bit" scores like Triggers can evoke memories for sure, but for me it does not carry as much weight as any instrumental score can.

I love Chrono Cross. I find it hard to pick it up and play it a second time but the first run was ten kinds of wonderful. Every twist and turn, all of the beautiful landscapes...amazing. This was only a couple years ago too. I had wanted to play the game since it came out but never managed to find it. Wasn't until about two or three years ago that I bought it off of PSN to finally play it.

Admittedly part of why I love it so much is the connections it makes with Chrono Trigger but I like CC more overall. I've played CT waaaaaay more though cuz it's easier to get into. It has a much faster pace. Probably the only thing CT has over CC for me.

The music is absolutely one of the high points. The world map theme in the Other World still sends a horrifyingly sweet sensation to the pit of my stomach. I know that doesn't make a lot of sense but that's the best I can describe it. I can't tell if I like or hate that feeling. The only other video game song to give me that feeling was Terra from Final Fantasy IX. It's a feeling of dread, of familiarity and of wonder. No other songs on the planet have been able to make me feel this.
