gaming Online gaming always leaves me feeling bummed out...(venting)

Despite how many years I've been in to gaming, I'm absolutely terrible.

One one hand, it's just a game and I should have fun. On the other hand, if the other team is so far beyond your skill level that there is no difference between giving it everything you've got and giving up completely then is there still room to say, "oh, well I did my best, that's all that matters"? At least in single player experiences when you put in effort to get something, you are more likely guaranteed an actual result. That's just how I see it personally.

It would be nice to just win one for once, ya know?

If game is good it should have good matchmaking.
And if you talk like ,,if the other team is so far beyond your skill level that there is no difference between giving it everything you've got,,  you know you are gona lose.In online games litle bit of planing and litle bit of luck.Think it like you play chess,in evry moment  you need to know what your enemy can and cant do.(lets say you play moba)You should track when your enemi trow his stronges skill out on creps,in that moment you should take offensive and crush him.Or if enemy is much, much, much more stronger than you must try to out smart him.

And if you whant to be good never surrender, never give up.Go for victory or death.

You could try finding someone to play the game with and Skype during the match. It really helps a lot! Unless you're playing against a pro team, then usually a Skype-coordinated team will always win. In my experience.

What do you play ?

Honestly, if you can't beat them, you didn't give everything you've got. It's hard though. However, in team games it's a bit different.

Did you try to play games like Starcraft 2 ?

Online games does not necessarily means team games, and it's much easier to create a good and fair matchmaking in a 1v1 game. Besides, Sc2 is perfect about that, considering that you have huge differences of skill between the players, and that you will always find, after 5-10 games, your exact skill level and play only against players as good as you at this game. Also, from times to times, you will play better/lower players so the game can decide whether or not you improved and if you should play against better players or not, making it easier to know your true level and to guide you to fairer games :D

Or, people could be a bit nicer to one another.

Why I only play SP games.

The sad fact of the matter is that random pick up games online tend to lead to a one way stomp, as you are often matched up against players who have played the game day in day out for years.  This is why I ended up hating the Battlefield series despite all the excellent work that went into it. If you want to play a multiplayer game, you need to do one of four things:

1.) Play co-op

2.) Play with friends

3.) Play games with good matchmaking systems, see Hearthstone, Starcraft 2, League of Legends

4.) Check the play stats of your opponents before starting the game to make sure the other guys doesn't have 2000 games logged to your two (this works best for lobby based games).  If it is a team based PvP, avoid games with team stacking.  This is the rather unsportsman like practice where all the experienced players will group up into one team and just stomp the other team rather than evenly distributing veteran players amongst different teams.

Play any game released prior to the advent of viable online gaming. x3  Play score attack games (that lack online leaderboards) that encourage you to compete with yourself.  Sometimes online gaming is absolute balls; I genuinely miss the days of playing local multiplayer with a family member or friend.

We can always form Brony based gaming groups.  I have a rather large library of mutliplayer games and it would be great to find players to play games like C&C Generals, Civilization V, Magicka and the like with.

1.) Play co-op 2.) Play with friends 3.) Play games with good matchmaking systems, see Hearthstone, Starcraft 2, League of Legends 4.)[...]

5) Actually try to improve and get even better games after games.

Of course, you can't play like that if you don't play regularly and only focus on having fun.

And also, even if Sc2, LoL, and HS have really good matchmaking systems, let's not forget that these games also have HUGE skill difference between players. A good matchmaking is necessary.

But in games like Battlefield,... You don't need such a matchmaking system. The difference between a good and a 'bad' player is not that important.

If you think the games have really bad matchmaking, you should start not underestimating yourself and you should try to focus on winning.

Well, if any of you would be interested in playing tf2, or Tribes with me I'd be very interested. I could really use some people to play with.

(just don't make me use voice chat...that makes me nervous...lol)

Cheaters perhaps? I been to so many servers with rule breaking players who use hacks when something doesn't go their way.

Possibly, but more likely than not you are simply being outmatched by your opponents.

Oddly enough I find that Planetside 2 tends to play pretty well to all skill levels, but I found Battlefield to be merciless.  I spent far too much time in respawning screens or traveling only to die nearly instantly as soon as actual combat broke out.  The term "hurry up and wait" almost comes to mind, although I suppose in this context its actually "wait then die".  And don't even get me started on aircraft.  Ultimately I spent way to much time staring at respawn screens and decided the Battefield series was a complete waste of my time.  Switched to Planetside 2, never looked back.

I know how you feel, OP. I've played League of Legends sporadically since 2009 and I still suck at it. Probably because I don't play it consistently. I don't think I've ever played it regularly/consistently for more than a month or two at a time.

Still, though, the point of games is to have fun, and I have fun with games even when I horrendously suck at them. Just try to focus on having fun.

Company with friends enhances it by about 150% I'd always say. Win or loss, doesn't really matter. In the end, if you play enough you begin to improve in skill level. I can attest to this for the few online games I play. Then again, I prefer the co-operative games rather than pitting you against pros all the time. The attitudes of people really vary from game-to-game.

I guess that covers the "Gaming experience may change online" label you see all of the time. Mostly these days I play Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate. A whole different bunch of people. It's hard to have a bad experience when you're constantly working as a team and celebrating your victory. There's probably a whole lot of psychology and reinforcement that goes into it, regardless. Depends really what audience you're expecting to play with.

Play countersrike global offensive. I don't need friends to play that. It is usually funanyway. And whether you win or lose it is fun too. On casual anyway.

How many hours of game time do you have? How often do you think of tactics? Hows your gaming setup?

Practice makes perfect. going semi-pro takes about three years, so go gaming!

Try DayZ.

You either get better there or you simply end as food...for other players...literally.

Or you break your leg for falling a few feet.

Or get tied up and die.

Or you can die from stepping in a puddle and getting soaked.

DayZ is fun, I can tie people up and rejoice whenever I see a can o' beans.

I play shooters more often, cause i feel it brings out the fun. But you see people abusing the glitches to their advantage; that's considered cheating and does mean you have skill.

I feel you. Games are meant to be fun, and people usually take them way too seriously. That's the worst part about online multiplayer games. Trolls and jerks are far too common in the gaming community. I personally just play for enjoyment, and I can't understand why people freak out so much.

About the winning thing, yes it is nice to win every now and again. What's worse than losing however, is dealing with poor sportsmanship. Trying your best, and having fun is important. People need to just have a good time playing, and need to stop getting so aggressive over vidya games, I tell ya what. Focus on having a good time, and stop spamming the chat with interwebz slang. (Get rekt scrub, m8)

I'm okay with most of trolls. Actually, it depends on what you call trolling. There's a difference between trolling and being an asshole. Even if nowadays people are more used to the harsh version of trolling when they refer to it.

Jerks are everywhere anyway, it's up to the player to ignore them.

But I'm not really sure that they are bad for your gaming experience. I mean, if you're playing Call of Duty, it's utterly obvious that such things will happen. But it's also up to you to choose your games wisely. :)

Trying your best, and having fun is important.

It is !
