Planning on getting a tattoo on my right shoulder, like my father.. and his father, and my father's father's father.  :D

I'm sadly untattooed but I've always admired body art. Unfortunately, I can't think of anything important enough to me to get permanently emblazoned on my body, that I can't remove without a great deal of pain and difficulty. I change my laptop wallpaper every other week or so, I can't imagine how quickly I'd become bored of a tattoo.

Although, being the huge geek that I am, the only thing I can think of right now that's special enough to me right now is the quadratic formula. And I would be "that person" who has the quadratic formula tattooed on their arm or their shoulder or back or something.

I do not at all understand people who want to get body modifications. Just because you think it's cool and edgy now doesn't mean you'll necessarily think the same way 10, 20 years from now, yet the modification could potentially alter your body permanently.

I feel the same way about people who get stupid and/or excessive tattoos, but I have more respect for minimal, intelligent tattoos. They can have genuine meaning and substance to them, such as people getting a tattoo representing a military unit they were in, and I have a lot of respect for that. But tattooing the devil screaming on your back or something just because you think it's cool is just dumb.

I'll agree that those who do it over excessively are hard to look at and have some of the dumbest tattoos. There is another side to this though. There are many still who get a tattoo or two because they have a personal meaning. Not everyone gets a tattoo because it's cool, but I'll respect your perception on this.

As for me, I'm without ink on my skin, but I do have a few planned. One is of a symbol that closely relates to my blood as a wiccan. Another will be a large one on my back which will hold spirits and beings that I hold close to in my personal life. Still thinking on other additional ones.

Yeah I definitely understand and respect this, I don't have a problem with people getting tattoos that have a personal meaning. Not sure if I was clear in my original post, sorry about that.

I just really want people to be careful about this sort of stuff because it can affect them negatively for a long time if they make a bad decision. It doesn't mean it's the end of the world or even a huge deal, and it's not hard to cover up common tattoos anyway. But it's still there on your body whether or not you want it to be.

I appreciate the clear up on that. Yeah, tattoos are something that you'll have till death. Unless it's something that has meaning, it's honestly a waste of time and money because if you end up getting something you didn't want later, it can make things awkward. This is partly why I never drink myself under the table when I have alcohol or beer of any kind.

Both my parents have tattoos, so I see no harm in getting one.

If I'm gonna get a tattoo, it'll either be something special to me or a period in my life I don't want forgotten. And the first tattoo I want would be something along these lines:

queen_chrysalis_by_celebi_yoshi-d68zx30.
Cause she's the character that got me into MLP and convinced me that it was more than a show for toddlers. And I don't want to forget this part of my life. I wanna be a brony forever!

After That I'll get a tattoo representing my straight edge lifestyle

straight_edge_by_kleptocorpse-d5kpw1d.jp

and while I'm at it, maybe something for my interest in anthro art too:

The issue is money, and after that, deciding on the right artists. They're gonna be there forever and I want them to be perfect.

Hopefully I'm tough enough. I don't wanna be one of those folks who taps out or even passes out during a tattoo. How can you tell if you're tough enough to withstand getting tattooed?

Some of my favorite j-rockers have them. Takeru has one his chest of a butterfly. I think he said something somewhere, i can't find the source of it but... he has arrhythmia, so the butterfly reminds him of that or something. I love that tattoo because it looks hot on him. >/////<

Just so you know... he's wearing a sleeve thing on his arm. So, that's not a tattoo. He only has the one on his chest.

Piercings are the same. I really like them on others. In fact, if you notice, Takeru has one on his chin. My other favorite j-rockers have them as well. Kazuki from SCREW has some really awesome ones as well.

As far as I know, not sure if he does anymore but... he also has his belly button pierced. It's pretty common for them to have that pierced. Hiro from Nocturnal Bloodlust also has his pierced as well.

I would never get a tattoo because I just don't want to permanently alter my body.  No piercings either.  And I just know, with my luck, that I'd be allergic to the ink or end up with scar tissue or something.  But if we had super amazing Star Trek technology where you could just wave a little triquarter type thing over your skin and instantly have a 100% safe tattoo, and then just wave it again and it's magically gone, then I'd definitely get a little L'Cie brand on my upper left arm.  I'd like to wear earrings, too, but there's no way I'd actually want to put a hole through myself.  And clip-ons would hurt.  Nope, nothing for me until Star Trek times.

Tattoos can look really cool depending on what it is and where it is. I think they usually look better on buff people though.

I think ear piercings normally look fine as long as they're not gauges. Belly button rings are pretty hot. Other than that, not really a fan of them.

I personally would never get either. It's just not my thing.
