Possible spoilers, so tread lightly!

Ok, so S5 is coming out this year....what do you guys think that they'll start it off with?

We know that they find a small village where girls & guys have all the same basic hairstyle, plus they all have the '=' Cutie Mark and very creepy smiles to go along with it. We also know that in one of the trailers, at least Rainbow gets her Mark changed to the same thing. Plus, there's some other stuff in the trailers that eludes to the Mane 6 being captured before Twi blasts some Magic at them.

My theory is that the village is a representation of where everyone's exactly the same, like in many horror movies or novels. But it's not where they'll eat you alive or they're murderers, they just want everyone to be like them and live in the same li'l paradise of boring same-ness. Of course, this leads them to becoming very controlling and one-sided as they'll do anything to remain in their paradise.

So, the Mane 6 (except Twi) must have their Marks changed at some point and Twi has to learn that even though we are the same we should accept our differences for what they are. This allows the other 5 to return to normal, and then they try to fix the village....but who knows, maybe they will change or not.

Again, this reminds me of movies like the 'Stepford Wives' or even the MLP fan game 'Story of the Blanks'. I do like it that they're doing this though, and I wonder what will unfold in S5.

Here's a brohoof to S5 everypony!  B)

Not a bad theory, but i see it a bit differently.

I don't think that the ponies with the equality cutie marks and creepy smiles, actually act on their own. I think that these ponies are actually under some sort of mind control that was caused by the staff.

Now i know what you're thinking. "We saw Rainbow Dash and Rarity have the same marks in the trailer, why don't they smile creepily?" I actually think that the magic dosen't effect them immediatly and that it actually takes a few minutes to get into effect.

We have to consider that Cutie Marks make you who you are, so they probably change their personalities.

But that's just a theory.

Also, if you look closely at the scene where Twilight stands on this mountain, looking at those lights, you can see that her Cutie Mark was also changed. I am pretty sure they all get changed.

A city full of perfectly equal ponies so that no one is  better or worse than any other, the villainess has a way to steal cutiemarks (or rather just remove them and 'store' them on that thingie in the cave) so that no pony is anything but equal with one another; the moral will be about how differences are good and it's good that not everyone's the same etc etc.

It's actually a pretty good idea for an episode though.  Only problem is how normal and uninteresting the villainess looks when season opener/closer villains in FiM tend to look ludicrously awesome and unique.  Hopefully she'll have another "form" that fits that bill.

Well the recent trailer showed that Twilight was going to be equalized as well (you have to look very closely) so I think it's safe to say all the Mane 6 will be affected by whatever's going down in the town.

My thoughts are that this "Mayor Marx/Pony Amon" (or whatever her real name will be) as found some sort of ancient artificial (the twin rod thingy) that allows her to equalized others.  At first she did this because she thought things would be better but soon had a whole "Power corrupts absolutely"  sort of thing and now she's only in it for the power and needs to fill up the grid we saw to achieve the next level in her power.

She and her followers (who are more or less being blackmailed or brainwashed into following her) will act friendly towards the Mane 6 when they arrive.  The Mane 6 will be suspicious and ask questions nopony will answer before being lured into the trap at which point, the Mayor takes away their cutie marks, ending part 1.

Part 2 then follows up with the Mane 6 now equalized trying to cope with there lack of specialty and uniqueness while the Mayor now plans on how to spread her ways across Equestria.  Twilight will figure out that they define what makes them speical, not their cutie marks, spread this message with the rest of the Mane 6 and get their new "Cutie Mark Magic" power, defeat the Mayor and free the town but not before the Mayor makes an emergency teleport  where she meets up with her boss, the true big bad of the season.

At least that's what I think might happen  ;)

I think this episode is going to martyr off the rest of the mane 6 in order to make Twilight shine. I also think this episode is going to have a lot of unnecessary action themes and dark tones and will overall be a giant disappointment after I've waited so long for a new season.

Then things will get better after the premiere and it gets more into the SoL stuff :P

From what I understand, several fans wanted a villain that was a normal, regular pony.

Monesters! Explosions! Excitment! =p

I think its a town where everybody is 'the same'... so no special talents etc... probably caused by a villain or somethin.... and the M6 have to solve stuff

To be completely honest, I know this sounds quite ludicrous, but the first thing that came to my mind when I saw it was... Communism.  LOL.  I know, right?

But seriously, think not of the corrupt styles of the political systems of some socialistic/communistic countries... but rather think of the basis of the ideology.

See, "common ownership...", "absence of social classes, money and the state"...

In essence, it's a system without hierarchy of ranks.

Now, let's not take the label of the name "communism" and say that Habro made these ponies' city "communistic" ... that's not what I'm meaning.

What I do mean, is that it was just a way to think about seeing the equals signs plastered on the ponies' rumps, as they all share the commonality, and seemingly lack any kind of rank.

My idea does still fall in line with the possibility of the ponies having been brainwashed, but not necessarily brain-washed... rather, washed of their cutie marks.  We all saw what happened to the Mane 6 (well, Mane 5) when they had each others' cutie marks.  They forgot who they were, and saw themselves as doing what they have to, because it was what their cutie marks were telling them.

I definitely agree with you there.  :)

I don't think hip was implying that the villain would be a "normal/regular" pony, if that's what you were thinking.

Either way, it sounds like you're implying that this villain would be regular, which, I don't think so.  Hypothetically speaking under the assumption that the reason the ponies have "=" cutie marks is because the villain stole them...  Let's compare something here...

Tirek stole the ponies' magic, which basically means he stole their livelihood/energy/ability.  But they knew what happened, and were still themselves.

This villain would be stealing the ponies knowledge/memory/sense of self, via stealing their cutie marks.

In the end, if we were to think about purely those acts of theft upon the ponies (and thus, disregarding the big ol' fight between Twilight and Tirek)...  This is one-upping what Tirek did, in my eyes.  I'd rather have my energy sucked from me, and keeping my mind wholesome, and memories intact... than to have my knowledge, skill, and memory wiped from me.  So.  Just sayin'.

Since the Rainbow Power was shown to be exceptionally powerful, beating Tirek who had the magic of essentially all of Equestria and the princesses, and since a Rainbow is made up of a lot of colors, but actually consisting of broken white light (pieces of a whole) I'm thinking the moral will be that everypony is part of the whole and together they are one, but that doesn't necessarily mean everypony has to be the same like these equalized types.

I'm assuming the villain will either learn this lesson (if it's a well-intentioned extremist like a pony who happened to gain this power) or simply destroyed/banished if they're a truly evil entity.
