What's With this thing with The Steven Universe Fandom vs. The Brony Fandom?

It's because the SU fans are scared that the MLP fans are gonna make a bunch of porn about it. Not saying they don't have their own, but it's just that we don't really tag our stuff as well as they do. Search RD on Google Images and in a couple scrolls you'll find something that's not kid-appropriate. The SU fans, seeing as most of them are fans with younger siblings/family members, don't want to risk their siblings being exposed to that so early, which is understandable.

Also they really hate the idea of "Gembros" or whatever the MLP fans are coming up with. They think we should just keep it as fans like they've been doing since day one and not divide the sexes like we did in ours.

Personally I think we're all being hypocrites. I just Googled "Garnet Steven Universe" and I didn't even have to scroll before seeing her in a non kid-appropriate fashion. :/

TL:DR It's a Tumblr thing.

You know, there is an Internet search website for kids called KidzSearch. I'm sure there won't be any explicit content when the kids are using it. Still, I say children should stay away from using the Internet on their own until they are at a certain age.

So I've been hearing about The Steven Universe fandom and the Brony fandom having a rivalry or something? Is it on some place I don't look. What exactly triggered this? Why are fandom wars even a thing?

THE ANSWER TOO ALL T.V. SUM{? IS (Story +old media - lesser plot = new) X network

I enjoy both shows........................Heck.....................I enjoy a ton of shows........but you know what to me that's exactly what they are..........shows...............just like a books a book................and a games a game.............they're forms of entertainment..............when they become more than that to people..................that's how these situations come to fruition.............all I'm really going to say is this........\/

I've only just started watching Steven Universe, and I've found it to actually be a fairly good show.

The fear of bronies is just silly though; what's wrong with liking both and interacting with both sets of fans?

But that's the minority fandom mindset for you. R34 has existed WAY long before FiM...

Agreed there. I watch Gravity Falls and interact with the fandom from time to time (but not as much as with you guys.) It's not so bad there, but they also have this sort of fear that bronies take over the show and i ask to myself all the time, why can't we like more animated shows then one?

It's mind-boggling to me.

It's like they want us to watch cartoons they seen as "Good" yet don't want us watching them fear of what they claim is "ruining."

It's a weird kind of a superiority complex. They see there show as superior, but at the same time, we're not worthy to witness such greatness.

That's some backwards thinking there.

It's a form of tribalism and it's something that has existed for a LONG time. The console wars are one example of this that has continually existed. Think SNES vs. Genesis; both systems had great games, but the minority fandoms were loud and proud in defending their favorite and bashing the others.

It is what it is. At least most fans of both series have no issue with interaction.

My big brother (who is 10 years older then me) had both consoles, so he really couldn't give a shit about the 16-Bit Wars.

I know about it's existance for a long time and i still don't understand it.

That is the crux of the issue right there; there's no need for such attitudes when in the end we all love a common things, but pick sides in illogical defense.

It happens in sports, any media, jobs, schools, etc., it's mentality I don't understand. Yeah, rivalries can be fun in a sense, but there comes a point where it feels pointless and more harmful.

Steven universe looks kinda shit anyway. They'd be lucky if we graced them with our r34 artists :P

But that's an opinion from the advert for it, which makes it look as shocking as uncle grandad or whatever.

Really if a fandom is like that they should just be feking internet barred xD

Or they could just ban sjw or whatever they are. Tumblrs only good for r34 anyway.

I find it hilarious that tumblr sjws yell and scream about bronies making r34, yet the amount of hentai and r34 that they is astounding, Like I was called disgusting for being a clopper then I went on her blog and it was nothing but under-aged anime boys...

Plus the SU fandom is concened about bronis tainting them? Let me tell you in my journeys across the dark filth ridden caves of the internet, I have seen SU stuff and that was way before bronies "stole" it.

Well, I'm a fan of MLP, Steven Universe, AND Gravity Falls, so I'm sorta neutral to this. A bit of rivalry can be fun, in my opinion. Although, when it comes to genuinely hating one another, thats a bit ridiculous...I mean, its immature and causes headaches. I know a some MLP haters on a GF forum, yet the the Admin of the site hid Derpy in the banner, so its not all this guy vs that guy.

I understand what they're talking about, but completely disagree with the thought we'll make it impure. There is always the branch of fans that are sexualizing the show, it's life. Deal with it.

I just found out about Steven universe recently and ive gobbled it up. It makes me sad that this kind of thing is happening. It just seems that from the middle of the 2000's people have started getting a lot more attached to tv shows. I think it might have something to do with the decline in our social interaction as a society in general.

The internet has given everyone a voice. 30 years ago, when you where done watching He-Man and the masters of the universe, you couldn't go on the internet and give out your thoughts on the episode. You where mostly stuck with your own thoughts, or at best, you could speak with your friend about it, who also is a fan of the show.

The internet is a blessing and a curse at the same time.

Ok. It's safe to assume that when posts in a thread make negative blanket statements when discussing larger groups, be it Bronies, SU fans, and yes even SJW - things have a tendency to go off the rails.

Before I lock this topic - I leave you once again with this plea going forward

"Imagine people complexly."
