So I get that their doing this whole Justice League thing with the DC Universe, but Man of Steel specifically followed a really similar tone to the Nolan films, and it was even produced by Nolan. The two universes would fit perfectly together, and whether you liked Man of Steel or not, you have to agree that it would work perfectly in the same universe as The Dark Knight.

I get that Nolan and Bale left, but think of all the supporting cast in TDK trilogy. I can't imagine anyone else playing Jim Gordon now as Gary Oldman was so well cast, and Michael Caine as Alfred IS Alfred to me. I also don't think there is another black guy more well known and fitting into the role as Lucius Fox as Morgan Freeman.

Why don't they just get another director, and an actor that looks like Bale, to come and continue the Nolan films. I personally HATED The Dark Knight Rises, but I still think that this continuity has a lot of room to grow, and it's bad we're leaving that series on a bad note.

The Dark Knight Rises is meh movie, lol.

I personally want to see more of the Batman. Unfortunately, Christian Bale won't be reprising his role as Bruce Wayne/Batman...unless things change. Well...it really doesn't matter much to me if they produce moar Batman films now, or later...  :P

I don't like the whole reboot thing in itself, but DarkSwap did make a few good points. As for the 'why'? ... Exploring a different avenue might bring in even more money. Which it probably will if the setup's there.  :P

They kinda came to an end point on that last trilogy.  Bat Man retires and goes to Hawaii or something.  And the "something happens which draws the old fogy to fight crime" had been done once in the series and is rarely done well.  (see the third of the last Batman series)

I suppose they could do a currentquel but then you would know who wouldn't die.

[Wait, so and so is in the third movie, therefore they can't die in this one]

The Dark Knight Rises was awful. Why it got good reviews is beyond me. I loved Batman Begins and The Dark Knight, but that one was just crap.

I guess a fresh slate could work, but my concerns are: 1. Man of Steel has a very similar tone to the Nolan films, so it would make sense for them to cross, and 2: a lot of the supporting cast are so well cast that I think it will be very difficult to find replacements for them, especially Jim Gordon.

In order to make this reboot good they would need to do something new to the franchise. Maybe go back towards the tone of the Burton films and The Animated Series. As Man of Steel was so similar to The Dark Knight in terms of tone, they couldn't do this without it being out of place and the opposite of how it should be.

So they've got 2 options. Reinvent the franchise and do something new with it, but it won't fit or work with Man of Steel and Superman will come across as the darker character which is NOT how it should be. Or follow the same tone as the Nolan films, but make it an absolute bore fest which we've already seen before.

Like Batman Begins improved on the original quadrilogy by miles.

Totally agree with Batman Begins improving Batman.  Totally agree Dreck Night Rises was terrible.

I was just saying getting away from where the Dreck was may be the reason behind the reboot.

I didn't see the Dark Knight, but from what I hear it was no Batman Begins.  If you chart the series and extend that chart to the next one you kinda get this

You haven't seen The Dark Night? That's the best one.

Heath Ledger's portrayal of the Joker was one of the most memorable and best performances in cinema.

Yeah, I agree with you in getting away from the horror which was The Dark Knight Rises. However, read my last post and you'll see the concerns I have.

Also, I just can't see anyone else playing Jim Gordon anymore.

Every clip of him as the Joker makes me wonder what's wrong with me or all the people who like his performance.  Give me Mark Hamil anytime.  Perfect mix of crazy, campy, and creepy; in my opinion.

Maybe they should start making movies of Batman Beyond. Ya know, have a great grandson or something find out about his crime-fighting-bat-loving great grandfather's legacy and he starts to take up the Batman suit because Gotham is being overrun with freaks again.

Inject it with witty humor and an actor that splits both DC and Batman fans down the seam due to some liking the new guy and others liking the gutter voiced classic Batman.

We can call it Ultimate Batman Beyond. :P

That's actually a very good idea.

Everyone's titled to their opinion, but for me, Heath Ledger was the best. It was a modern reincarnation of the Joker for sure, but he took everything that made the character great, and re imagined him into one of the best on screen villains in all of cinema. I like Mark Hamill as well, but like Danny Elfman's score, it wouldn't have worked in the context of that film, because they both belong in a certain style of comic book movie.

I think you should watch the whole film though, just so you can say whether you like it or not. For me, it's the best of the three, but you might think differently.
