It's unrelentingly 80s, but the strength in this song is what it means, not what it sounds like. Message, not the music.

 

This song is a very upbeat and happy song, but the lyrics are undoubtedly dark as they describe life under a totalitarianist regime. While this sort of clash isn't uncommon in music, it's the tools they use in the lyrical structure that make it beautiful.

Even when everything is surrounded by darkness, there's always light somewhere to be found in the fold. From the storytelling element of having your freedoms stripped away from you despite sounding happy and the lyrical structure that includes that one bit of light and happy lyrics that describe always being there for someone and vice versa in spite of everything else being dark and bleak, the lyrics of this song are nothing short of pure art with a powerful message: Even when everything seems dark, there's always light to be found somewhere.

For that reason, I can say this is the most powerful song I've ever heard and one of my all time favorites.

As much as I want to say a song from SuG, I have to go with Kizuna by Matenrou Opera. The reason is because the english lyrics of this song are soooo beautiful. Like... omg. I just can't can't over it. It's one of their most beautiful songs ever.

One of the hardest questions you could possibly ask me. I love so much music from all kinds of genres. If I had to choose it would be "Simple Man" originally by Lynard Skynard but I love the Shinedown cover much better. It's just a song that's easy to relate to for me plus I love singing along with it (something you never wanna hear lol)
